Beach House in Porthtowan, Truro, Cornwall, England - 100m from Blue Flag National Trust Porthtowan surfing beach on World Heritage North Cornwall Coast
We are a family with Cornish roots who love Porthtowan. We bought the Beach Cottage for the stunning views over the beach and coastline beyond. We furnished the house to a high standard with 1 to 2 families in mind, so you can have a relaxing holiday in Cornwall.
Mark purchased this House in 2011
Why Mark chose Porthtowan
The North Cornwall Coast is simply stunning, crossing the River Tamar from England lifts the spirit and you know you are in a special place. Porthtowan is a hidden gem of a beach, though its place in the development of surfing in the UK has increased its popularity. With over a mile of sand you will always have plenty of space even in highest summer. We dreamed of a home with a sea view and Beach House has just that. No driving to the car park, just walk down and back at your leisure. Of course Cornwall has many other attractions and Porthtowan is centrally located for most of them.

A wonderful post-Easter week!
We had an amazing week with all our adult children and partners. The location was perfect, right on a wonderful beach, so great for surfing and sunbathing and swimming, even though the water was still cold in April! The house was very spacious and suited us all really well, we had three doubles and the rest were singles or bunks. All the doubles had an en-suite. The two upstairs doubles were lovely huge rooms, downstairs was a bit more pokey and no views at all but it didn’t affect our enjoyment of the week. Everywhere was well equipped with all we needed, we used the bbq, cooked huge meals for all 9 of us every night, including getting a chippy from the nearby St Agnes. The kitchen had a bit of a tired air to it, but the biggest fridge we had ever seen(!), there were plenty of bathrooms and showers throughout, some parts of the house were clearly recently renovated including a new dining extension built on to the side. The outdoor seated area was a beautiful place to watch the waves and read. Everywhere was beautifully clean and the house had a wonderful sitting room where we all had ample space to lounge in front of sky tv when the football was on! The only downside was the limited parking for 2 cars, and it being on a tight ramp one in fromt if the other, so you have to be a confident driver to get on and off each day!
We enjoyed surfing, coastal walks and runs each morning, visiting Falmouth, the Eden Project, St Ives. Our favourite visit was the sandy cove at Porthcurno where the telegraph museum is an absolute must -see. To walk down to the Cable Hut on the beach and see all the cables coming up through the floor from all quarters of the world and realise the communications that all centred here was mind-blowing.
An unforgettable holiday - thank you. And a special thank you on day one to the cleaner who texted us to say we could arrive a little early as she had finished!
Fabulous holiday at the Beach House
Thank you for letting us use your amazing house. We loved the layout, the different spaces and enjoyed how well equipped the house was. It was an ideal place to take our children and their children away with us for our first three generations holiday. We were even blessed with wonderful sunshine.
Brilliant family holiday
Had a wonderful family holiday, 7 to 87 years, kids surfed, swam, walked, rode horses, they were never ever bored. There were heaps of board games, television with full Sky package and we had a 12 year technocrat to get the best out it. All in all a great time. Fortunately we are all fit and active to negotiate the steps ( even the 87yr old) but without the steps you don’t get the view.
We have made some beautiful memories for my mums 80th. The house is lovely & had everything we needed. My only niggle was the hot water ran cold before all 8 of us could shower but it wouldn’t stop me staying there again. We all loved it
