Guestbook comments from the owner

At the risk of repeating what everyone else has said ,this really is a fabulous place. You have obviously given a lot of time and thought to the conversion , decoration and furnishing of this lovely barn .We particularly appreciated your welcome ,the generous food and wine basket, the feather duvets and crisp clean bedding ,the provision of dishwasher tablets toilet rolls and absence of electric meter ....Pat Heather and Chris 23/4/12

As everyone seems to agree your barn really is delightful and set in such wonderful surrondings .When booking properties over the internet you are never sure if you have made right decision but as soon as we arrived at top of drive we knew we were onto a winner. The space offered both inside and out has been perfect for two families .Being able to walk from the barn has been so easy and the highlight was the waterfalls walks. The Newtons and Budds 12/5/12

Had a lovely time ,loved the cottage we all want to live here. Will come again.

Perfect Holiday Home

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I wanted a holiday cottage to celebrate Thanksgiving with a couple of friends from the US. The kitchen was more than sufficient for preparing a feast with modern appliances and all the accoutrements. The bedrooms were large with en suites. Very clean and well looked after. It was the perfect base for our treks around the Brecon Beacons. It is within short walking distance of excellent hiking trails that lead to the nearby waterfalls. The Penderyn Whiskey Distillery gives an excellent tour with tasting and is a 5 minute drive. The pub in Ystradfellte was very homely and full of friendly locals who made us feel very welcome. A perfect place to get away.

Simply Wonderful - Most relaxing Break Ever!

  • 5 of 5

This is definitely one of the best holidays we've ever had and the location is magical. Fantastic walking and gorgeous scenery for miles - its secluded but you have the benefit of Lucia and her partner being on the farm just down the lane should you need anything. Supermarkets such as Morrisons and Tesco are not far away at all but when you're back here you feel so away from it all. The facilities are fab too - loads of stuff already provided to ensure a comfortable stay. We visited with a our dog and 14 month daughter and my parents stayed for a few nights too and there was plenty of room. Great having 2 bathrooms and an extra shower room. We love it here and have already booked our 2017 summer holiday and simply cannot wait - a little slice of heaven without having to go abroad :)

Beautiful getaway

  • 5 of 5

A beautifully restored barn in a tranquil spot. Perfect location for walking and seeing the waterfall area.

We were welcomed by a lovely basket of wine and Welsh "goodies" which was greatly appreciated. There was also a lovely Christmas tree to add a special touch. There was a problem with the cooker but the owners were extremely helpful in providing an alternative. As we were expecting friends, Lucia even offered to cook a larger meal for us in her own cooker. Cannot ask for more from owners. Unfortunately due to illness, our holiday was cut short but I would not hesitate to return to this beautiful barn. Would recommend to anyone.

Perfect for dogs also - our little one had a great time.

5* accommodation in an amazing location

  • 5 of 5

Pen y porth barn is furnished to a very high standard and is a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The kitchen has everything that you need including a dishwasher. The welcome basket was a really nice touch and shows that the owner takes pride in their property. The place was spotlessly clean and there were toilet rolls and towels provided which not every holiday let provides.

It's great to have a tiled floor downstairs that can be kept clean especially if you have a dog with you. The living area is very comfortable and the large DVD library was very much appreciated.

The bedrooms were cosy with lovely huge fluffy duvets and comfortable beds. The twin room has trundle beds so that it can accommodate 4 if needed. Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom.

The barn has a large garden with lots of space for children and dogs to run around. We enjoyed a cup of tea and a slice of cake outside while looking at the stunning views. It is only 4 minutes walk to cwm porth where you can start the walk to see the 4 waterfalls or just go for a pleasant walk along the river, explore the caves etc.

My partner and I decided to make a change and rent a property for a week instead of staying in a hotel....this was the best thing we have ever done! The pictures do not do it justice, the barn was very clean , spacious and in such a secluded location, perfect for a romantic getaway, waterfall walks and cave entrance literally 2 mins away, which is the main reason for our visit to Wales, so were very pleased! Pen y Fan not far, we also ventured to Cardiff (about an hour away) to eat at restaurants and shop. The welsh cakes and flowers that were left for us were a nice touch, wanted to come back again this year but the barns already booked for when we want to visit, going to make sure we book for next!
