Detached Stone House On The Edge Of Grosmont With Superb Views Of The Esk Valley

Bedrooms 4
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

House in Grosmont, Nr Whitby, North Yorkshire Moors - Excellent Walking Country With Direct Access To The Moors, The Coast To Coast Walk Passes The House

Our usual changeover day is Friday, especially at peak times. At other times we try to be flexible. The house will be available after 4pm on the day of your arrival and must be vacated by 10am on your day of departure

Hillside enjoys an elevated position overlooking the Esk Valley. There is easy access to the village with its historic steam train station and workshops which are open to visit. A short drive across the beautiful moors leads to the bustling port of Whitby and many other quaint villages await discovery each with their own delightful charms. From the doorstep walks lead in all directions and with a little planning you can even come home by train! The house has a new oil fired central heating system with a cosy woodburner in the lounge. The location is very peaceful only disturbed by the gentle puff of the steam trains down in the valley and the call of the woodpeckers and the pheasants.

Beautiful stunning character cottage

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is amazing! It was my mums 80th birthday weekend.

It sleeps eight people comfortably and very luxuriously! the attention to detail and the quality of the fixtures and fittings are great. If we needed anything the neighbour was very helpful and informative about the area lovely man. The weather was very kind to us in April and the garden has a lovely little sun trap. The views from the front of the cottage are breathtaking and it is great for dogs. Grosmont village is lovely especially the little tea room and the railway station, you can get into Whitby easily by train or driving. Plenty of walks for your dog and a great wood(doctors wood) the hill up and down from the cottage is very steep we drove down mostly but did walk a few times! Highly recommend this cottage

Thanks for a very enjoyable stay

Wonderful house and views are superb!

  • 5 of 5

Family weekend to celebrate 2 birthdays! We have been to this area many times before, but not stayed in Hillside. House was very comfortable and we could all have stayed much longer if we hadn't had 'jobs' to return to. Definitely a place to visit again.

peaceful location, stunning views, very well and tastefully equipped property

  • 5 of 5

This property is tastefully and very well equipped, with plenty of space for 8 people. There is a very large downstairs toilet with separate bathroom which is very useful. There is a living room with a cosy log burning stove.

The location is fabulous- uninterrupted views over the valley, and the only sounds you can hear are the occasional toot of the steam train. There are very well placed benches on the front garden where you can sit enjoying the views. Whitby is only 10 minutes away, so you can enjoy its amenities, but the local villages on the Esk valley are lovely and behind the house stretches the wonderful heather moorland. Robin Hoods Bay is also only a short drive away as well.

Beautiful house in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

There were 8 of us that stayed in the house ranging from the age of 50 years old to 8 weeks old! It was a lovely house which was very spacious yet still felt cosy. Everything we needed was there.

The views from this house really were stunning and it was situated in a great location, just a few miles from Goathland and Whitby and only a 5 minute work to the train station where you can catch the steam train.

I would definitely recommend it.
