|Minimum Stay||7 - 14 nights|
The perfect holiday location in the midst of olive groves and vineyards, only 30 minutes from the beaches of frejus, St Maxime and close to the famous St. Tropez. The medieval village Lorgues is 10 minutes away with its weekly Provencal market, bars and fabulous restaurants, or you could visit the Gorge du Verdon (the French grand canyon). Le Thoronet has all the necessary shops, bars or restaurants also activities such as kyaking, cycling, horse riding, tennis, wine tasting or for the more serious minded there is the abbey Le Thoronet with its concerts or visiting the beautiful surrounding villages. The airports of nice (1hr) and Marseille (1hr 20) have cheap and regular flights. The villa is perfect for 2 families or couples who want the space and peace as there are many areas to sit and relax, or just sit round the pool.
This is our family holiday home which the children all adore, and the grandchildren spend most of their time in the pool, or we all wander down to the village for a drink or meal at one of the very friendly restaurants.
We have a large extended family so the villa has been perfect for us with its large rooms and various outside area's to relax and escape for some peace or you can join in sunbathing on the decking by the pool under the shade of the olive trees. You can also play boules to while away the evenings after having a bbq. It is heaven to us.
Kevin and Cherry Rickard purchased this villa in 2010
The scenery is stunning with mountains, olive trees and excellent vineyards all around. The house is situated on a hill above the village and there are lovely views across the valley and down to the village which has all the necessary shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.
What has impressed us is the friendliness of the people and how they have accepted us and helped us whenever we have had a problem.
We are also only 10 minutes from a typical Provencal village of Lorgues which has an amazing weekly market. You have to get there early to avoid the crowds and then go off and have a drink at one of the many bars to recover. It is a must.
The village has kyaking, quad biking and cycling or you can just go for long walks through the olive groves. The famous Abbey of Le Thoronet holds a variety of concerts before which you can have a picnic nearby. There are also plenty of stables offering horseriding through the vineyards or into the mountains.
10 world class golf courses including St. Enderol and Barbaroux Golf courses are all within easy driving distance.
There are many beautiful villages to visit and the spectacular Gorges du Verdon with its canoeing and swimming which is described as the french Grand Canyon is about 1 hr away and well worth a visit.
The property is set on the edge of a very friendly and pretty village with a good selection of places to eat plus a Creperie which the children loved. The Village was within walking distance but at the bottom of a very steep hill, not a problem as needed the exercise after long leisurely lunches!! We spent a lovely 2 weeks with our extended family in this very spacious villa. The accommodation both upstairs and downstairs was much bigger than expected so plenty of room for 10 people, with everything we needed for a villa holiday which felt like home. Lots of space outside, a lovely pool area with plenty of room for sun loungers both in and out of the shade. Also a large BBQ which we frequently used and a large eating area under a gazebo which could be lit up at night. There was also a very nice upper terrace to get some peace and quiet if needed! Unfortunately we didn't venture too far during our time there as I it was extremely hot so spent most of our time in the pool. Within easy reach of St Tropez and other beaches but extremely busy even in late August so only went twice. A must visit is to the Gorges du Verdon which is less than an hours drive and quite breathtaking and the children loved swimming in the lake and jumping off the pedalos, they preferred it to the beach. Well worth a visit.
The owners were very helpful with any questions we had and we would highly recommend a visit to this villa which is set in a lovely part of France.
This is a wonderfully spacious villa if you have a large family and very well equipped to entertain little ones as well as the teens! Darts, pool table, boules, pool etc. It is also lovely and quiet/private which is a huge plus for us. Being so close to the village led us to lovely short walks to pick up bread/croissants etc and there were several other shops catering for most needs. We also enjoyed being able to walk out to restaurants thus avoiding the 'designated driver' issue😃! Another huge plus in our book.
We loved the way the kitchen opened out onto areas for eating/sunning and that the pool was close enough to keep en eye on the kids at all times.
The area is fab too. We had several day trips to activity places for the kids but also visited some lovely towns nearby.
We need to put in a word for Justin too. When he came to clean the pool he sat with us and gave us some great tips on local visits which proved absolutely invaluable eg taking the ferry from St Maxine to St Tropez to avoid the traffic. Fabulous day out thanks Justin. He also took the time to explain how to clean a pool to our very curious 7 year old.
Thanks to Kevin and Cherry for making our stay/booking an easy process. If we could have added one thing (and I feel terrible saying this😳) we would have valued television stations even French ones. We are big sports fans and would have liked to catch the olympics as a way of cooling down from the wall to wall sunshine! Ah yes the climate! Gorgeous sun all day!
Fabulous holiday thanks from all of us.
Beautiful and very spacious property, much bigger than we imagined, with everything you need for a self-catering holiday and more. More than enough space and facilities inside and out, even at full capacity. Beautiful pool and garden with amazing views. Short walk into local village where there is a highly recommended restaurant and everything else you need to enjoy your stay. Lots of local attractions including a chateau complex with activities and a restaurant. Had a wonderful stay and will definitely book again.
Fantastic villa in wonderful location. From start to finish we had excellent communication with Kevin and Cherrie. They went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect for us.
We holidayed with friends, my husband and I and our 18 and 21 year old daughters and friends with daughters of the same age and Grandson aged 3. The villa was extremely spacious, we were able to be together but plenty of space for peace and quiet - the gin terrace was ideal at 6pm, glorious views. Easily accommodates 10 adults comfortably and is very well maintained with lots of extra finishing touches.
The village has choice of restaurants ranging from the creperie to typical French menu at Le Tournesol which was beautiful. The bakery was a lovely walk each morning to buy the bread for breakfast. The wine from the cave was very good.
We had a couple of train excursions to Monaco and Nice. Our favourite was to Monaco which took a couple of hours from the station at Les Arcs, about a 20 minute drive away- free parking at the station!! Monaco was simply stunning. We found paninis and ice creams to suit our budget easily, even on the harbour itself. We took the boat from St Maxim to St Tropez which was also idyllic, beautiful port full of some very large yachts to look at and dream! Other days out to the local markets and towns were typically French. A few of our party went on a horse ride through the forest. The stables were recommended by the tourist office in the village.
The pool was a necessity on the very hot days, plenty of room to relax, swim and cool down.
We can't praise the villa enough, we had a fantastic holiday it certainly exceeded our expectations. Would definitely recommend for large families or groups of friends. It is everything the description suggests and more. Thanks Kevin, Cherrie and Justin for being wonderful hosts.
We have just returned from 2 weeks staying at Villa Belle Barbe and had a brilliant time.
Firstly communication with Kevin and Cherrie has been fantastic which is always reassuring.
The villa itself is very spacious and well equipped. Everything has been thought of to ensure a great holiday. The pool was wonderful, very refreshing as the temperatures reached late 30's and early 40's. The outside area has plenty of areas in sun and shade, suitable for adults and children. Great dining area undercover and the top area for drinks overlooking the valley. The kitchen and living room are great for preparing food and socialising. All the bedrooms are spacious and have well equipped modern bathrooms with powerful showers. The complimentary toiletries were a lovely touch.
The local village has everything you need. Would recommend the beef from the butchers and the rose wine from the cave. Further afield nearby the kayaking was excellent fun and the surrounding area great for cycling - glad we took the bikes! The Lac de Croix and Gorge du Verdon are well worth a visit - amazing clear blue water and renting pedals and canoes were great fun. We visited the beach in Frejus and also friends in Port Grimaud, about an hour away. Finally Justin who provides the meet and greet service was very helpful and provided excellent advice.
Thank you for a great holiday! We will be sure to return! The Carter and Battson families.
Our first villa holiday, Kevin and Cherry could not have been more helpful and reassuring as we had come across internet fraudsters trying to empty our wallets! Delighted to find the villa just as described, in fact bigger and better than the description and photos had shown. We are a family group, three 5-6 year olds, five mid twenties and my husband and myself, the old fogies. This villa not only sleeps ten but has a wonderful lounge area with comfortable seating for all, a kitchen with seating for all ten around a wonderful large table and the same in the outside eating area. A lovely peaceful location with a lovely bakery just down the road, highly recommended! Plenty of outside space to be together or room to be apart. If we didn't have our daughters wedding in 2015 we would have booked again this year. We have had holidays down on the coast and hated how busy it gets, here you can visit the coast but get away from the queues and endless sirens of the coast road. So easy to get to Monacco, or up into hills and lakes. The most relaxing holiday I have ever had.
30 mins drive to beaches at St. Raphael, Frejus with its water parks and St. Maxime. 45 minutes drive to the famous port and beaches of St Tropez either via Garde de Freinet or you can park at St. Maxime and catch the boat, or just drive along the coast.
