River Views House in Kingswear Devon - Several Coastal Walks, Wonderful Restaurants, Pubs And Shops And Heritage Sites On The Door Step
About Claire Jones
My husband is from Kingswear and we love this part of Devon as do our two children. We spend two weeks every summer here and visit as often as we can. I did the house up myself and it is our only holiday house. We are very proud of this house and we just want anyone staying to have a wonderful holiday and want to come back again and again. If you decide to stay with us we very much hope you enjoy your stay.
Claire Jones purchased this House in 2008
Why Claire Jones chose Dartmouth
We bought this house because we love Kingswear and Dartmouth and visit as often as we can. There is so much to do and see. We love walking and we love the coast and views of the water not to mention good food and not having to drive from place to place. We love the fact that from this house you can walk to everything and do not actually need your car at all once you are there. The views are just stunning from the house I remember lying in bed one morning and thinking that is a gorgeous yacht and it looks as though it is coming in to the house! There really is so much to see and do with coastal walks, heritage sites the castle and Agatha Christies house, the steam train and an endless choice of places to eat and shop. You won't be disappointed if you stay here.

Great Devon break
Great location for walking the coastal path.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would certainly return.
Brilliant location. Toddler loved slipway, boats, ferry and train. Lots of interest. Easy to travel along and across the river.
Very spacious with lovely sunny terrace.
Obviously there are the sounds of the sea lapping, seagulls calling and the working of the ferry but we didn’t find it a problem.
Lovely property, everything you need. The ferry and steam train is just on your doorstep too.
Great location lovely property and lovely outside area with seating. The car ferry is a little noisy but got used to it. The property is on three floors so glad I didn’t take my parents as they would of struggled with the stairs specially as main bedrooms are on the top floor and main shower room on the bottom floor.
As a family everything you needed was on your doorstep. Ferry and steam train was a minute away so we parked the car on arrival and there it stayed. Had some lovely evenings relaxing on the balcony.
Kingswear is a lovely place but very hilly. There is a Post Office next door and the people there are very helpful. A little corner shop is further up the hill for basics and their are a couple of places to eat other than that you have to go into Dartmouth for any food shopping, restaurants and shops.
Ferry service is running all day till about 10:30pm and the Steam Train to Paignton is lovely it’s like going back in time.
We all love Dartmouth :)
A lovely, well presented house and great communication, advice and help from Claire, will definitely be booking again.
Thank you Nina for your review, much appreciated and we really look forward to having you to stay again. Thank you for choosing Slipway House. Enjoy the rest of the summer. Kind regards Claire
Wonderful property, great location
We found the owner to be tremendously helpful and accommodating. The house was lovely with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. Once we arrived we didn’t need our car. Everything is easily accessible with lots to do. We travelled with 2 adults, grandparents and children aged 7,12 & 15, plus dog! The ferry outside is noisy in that it bangs when it arrives, but that was part of the character of staying in the house. We enjoyed just watching the goings on from the window. If it’s not the noisy ferry, then it would be the noisy seagulls! But what’s a holiday without a seagul?
All in all I would highly recommend this property and we would love to return.
Beaches available along the coast in both directions. You can drive or take the steam train which goes to Paignton and Goodrington Sands. There are magnificent coastal path walks from the house to sandy coves like Sugary Cove and famous beaches like Blackpool Sands 4 miles away.
Nearest Airport is Exeter or Bristol. Best train station to use from London is Totnes (20 mins drive away).
You are in Kingswear a small village with good pubs and restaurants. You are next door to the Post Office and the village shop is a 3 min walk. The Marina is a 2 min walk away. Dartmouth is a short ferry ride (the ferry is on your doorstep) and is packed with wonderful shops and restaurants.
In Kingswear the local shop provides all the essentials plus fresh bread and other local produce. The Ship is a great pub with good food and welcomes children. Dartmouth has endless wonderful shops and places to eat. Some highlights are Alfresco's for brunch and a great atmosphere, Rockfish for fab fish and chips. The Seahorse if you want a very special night out. Try and also take the little red ferry to the Anchor Stone Cafe in Dittisham. There is a great day trip from the doorstep; steam train to Paignton followed by double decker bus to Totnes followed by ferry back to Dartmouth. Dartmouth Castle is fascinating and a great place to have a picnic you can walk of get the small ferry from Dartmouth. Paignton Zoo is amazing fantastic Penguins. The owner is happy to give you lots of helpful ideas.
