Low Jock Scar cottages are set in an idyllic riverside setting, surrounded by 6 acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands. There are 2 one bedroom cottages and a three bedroom cottage. We are situated north of Kendal near the A6, in the Lake District National Park, 5 miles from the market town of Kendal. Easy access from the M6. Plenty of secluded parking. No pets please. Lovely gardens to be enjoyed. The owners live on site and are happy to assist you with ideas to help you enjoy your stay with us in the Lake district.

Lily Cottage is a one bedroom cottage surrounded by 6 acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands It has been stylishly designed for romantic couples.

The decor and furnishings are contemporary with traditional comfort and quality. 4 star visit Britain rating.

The living room has a comfortable sofa, oak table and 2 dining chairs and TV, DVD player. WIFI usually available.

The kitchen area is well appointed . It has a hob and oven, microwave, fridge freezer.

The beautiful spacious bedroom has a king sized bed with soft bedding and oak furniture.

The bathroom has a thermostatically controlled Mira shower over the bath and heated towel rail. Towels may be rented at a cost of £5 per set per person. Bath mat and bed linen are provided.

There are stunning views from all of the windows.

The garden is shared with the cottages and owners. Unwind and relax by the river in this very special place.

Roslyn and John bought Low Jock Scar in 2007.

We have continued to improve the property and cottages for over 8 years. 2015 achieving the gold award for Butterfly cottage from visit England. The cottages have improved from comfortable 4 star to high 4 star with most aspects considered 5 star.

The property has a special energy which has been enjoyed by many people over the years.

The river, bridges and loved garden create a special place to relax, replenish and recharge. Sitting by the river, enjoying the sunshine and a glass of wine has been a much enjoyed pleasure.

Our Guest comment books are filled with lovely comments, and hundreds of "looking forward to returning" comments. Many of our bookings are from returning clients and recommendations.

A lovely relaxing break in stunning surroundings

We stayed in Lily cottage for 5 days. The cottage was cosy, warm and spotlessly clean. Lots of room and attention to detail such as fresh lilys in the lounge. We couldn't have wished for prettier surroundings, garden was a treat with a river and several bridges, would highly recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful break .

Fabulous location and beautifully presented cottage..

Set in its own well maintained grounds this is a beautifully presented, comfortable cottage with everything you could wish for! The owner's also live on site and were helpful and friendly. The owners had left maps and recommendations of local pubs and restaurants and, of course, the Lake District provided a fantastic back drop to a memorable holiday. Very happy to recommend the cottage and will definitely be visiting again.

Quiet, well equipped cottage in a fantastic location

We stayed at Lily Cottage for a week in the second week of August. Cottage ideally located for exploring the Lake District, and only 5 miles up the road from Kendal, where you can find everything you need to be self sufficient.

The cottage is well equipped, and clean and tidy. The owner Rosyln Flackett and her husband, made us feel really welcome when we arrived. The location is not far from the A6, but is still quiet enough to feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. A river runs past the property, and the gardens are very pretty and well maintained.

Everything is provided for you. There is little or no Mobile signal here, so its great that they offer free WiFi in the properties to enable you to stay in touch with the outside world. If there was one complaint, it would be that the WiFi signal appeared to drop on a regular basis, and eventually found that if you turned wifi off and then on again, it sometimes rectified the problem. Having said that, this place was perfect for our honeymoon retreat. I liked the location as we were away from the crowds, and only a 20/30 minute drive from Windermere and the entrance to the Lakes.

Would highly recommend this location, as it was a home from home, spacious clean and tidy. If and when we return to the lakes, we would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review and I am glad that you enjoyed your stay. Sorry that mobile reception is variable, unfortunately O2 is not good in the countryside here apparently better in the cities. EE, vodaphone, orange etc better. Luckily most modern mobile phones pick up the wifi. The wifi usually works, but I wish the capacity could be made higher, as during busy times especially when the school Children are using capacity the signal cuts and returns. We pay for business broadband, much more expensive than resendential broadband and should have priority for speed etc hence much better than most in the area, usually over double the speed. Obviously we are longing for good high speed broadband to be installed. New infrastructure is being installed near to us. We do our best to continue making improvements wherever possible. Wow!!!

Well what can I say, never been here before but we will definitely be back. Phenomenal grounds, amazingly scenic and a lovely cottage with very welcoming owners. Me and my partner honestly could not fault it. It was perfect from start to finish. To anyone, definitely recommend it. The pictures don't even do it justice, it's fantastic!!

A great escape within stunning grounds.

Sunshine from early morning till late at night. Lily cottage is an amazing getaway set within beautiful grounds. The cottage was extremely well equipped, warm, abundance of natural light with a very spacious layout. The location was great and the facilities of nearby Kendal were a real convenience.

The friendly owners clearly take immense pride in their accommodation and rightfully so. You'll have no regrets about booking this gem.

Lilly cottage was an absolute delight just great !

Rosalyn was a perfect host nothing too much trouble everything was just like being in your own home . Although it was wet on a couple of days there was plenty to do and see in the area, which meant we went to places we might have missed had the weather been better. We will certainly visit again a great little location away from the masses and closer to nature with wildlife on the doorstep literally .

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: No Pets. There is a river running around the house, parents of children need to be aware and responsible. Outside: The cottages are set in 6 acres of private garden and woodland. The gardens are carefully planted with many ornamental shrubs, trees and an abundance of flowers. There is a decked BBQ area by the river with seating and a charcoal BBQ. It is situated for the sun from lunchtime to sunset. There is also wooden seating outside each of the cottages. The river runs through the grounds with many beautiful views including two listed stone bridges a wooden footbridge and picnic areas by the burbling Bannisdale beck. The grounds are much enjoyed by many Birdwatchers, nature enthusiasists and garden lovers. There are lovely walks from the door, with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. Many people find low Jock Scar's atmosphere very relaxing.
