We have continued to improve the property and cottages for over 8 years. 2015 achieving the gold award for Butterfly cottage from visit England. The cottages have improved from comfortable 4 star to high 4 star with most aspects considered 5 star.
The property has a special energy which has been enjoyed by many people over the years.
The river, bridges and loved garden create a special place to relax, replenish and recharge. Sitting by the river, enjoying the sunshine and a glass of wine has been a much enjoyed pleasure.
Our Guest comment books are filled with lovely comments, and hundreds of "looking forward to returning" comments. Many of our bookings are from returning clients and recommendations.

The fall in love factor, felt by many about this special place.
Low Jock Scar has a very special atmosphere of it's own, feeling well away from the usual hustle and bustle of everyday life, but within 8 minutes easy drive of the useful pleasant town of Kendal.
Thank you for providing superb accommodation in Tulip Cottage and for your friendliness and hospitality. We both enjoyed the peace and tranquility.

My husband and I had a lovely stay in Butterfly cottage. There was only the two of us but there would be ample room even if all bedrooms were in use. The cottage is cosy and has all the amenities needed for a self sufficient stay. The location is beautiful. Thoroughly recommend!
I booked this holiday last October (2015), for a holiday with my Mum and a friend, for a holiday for my 70th birthday, which is in August. We had a wonderful holiday, and had my daughter and family (who live in Kendal) for lunch on the the Sunday (Fathers Day) as well as Brian's 75th birthday(on the 18th June), and my early 70th birthday(August) and had hoped to have had a BBQ in the wonderful grounds of Butterfly Cottage, but this was not to be, but a good day was enjoyed by all.
The scenery was spectacular and the weather was very kind to us (except the Sunday when we were celebrating). We could find no fault with the cottage, my Mother who is 93 had the ground-floor en-suite bedroom, Brian used the double room upstairs and I used the 3rd bedroom (also upstairs). We had several walks nearby, and I personally would love to return to Butterfly Cottage next year for a return holiday. Sadly, my Mum has decided that the journey from Gloucester to the holiday cottage is a journey too far at her age, so even though I would love to return, I'm not sure we will be able to.
I would highly recommend Butterfly Cottage to anyone who asked me; the cottage, the grounds and the walks etc., were absolutely wonderful.

The Butterfly cottage was excellent. Modern well furnished, great kitchen. Views out of the windows in all directions were really great.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. Great location for exploring the lake district. Would certainly consider returning.
The cottage was even better than we thought it would be having looked at the pictures etc.
an idyllic , quiet location with a lovely stream flowing through the grounds . The property itself (Butterfly cottage) was immaculate in every detail.
Everything seemed to be new , or nearly new , from the bedding to the furniture and kitchen utensils , and everything was superbly clean .
Its impossible to fault the attention to detail and care that has gone into making this an amazing place to stay.
The nearest supermarket is about 10 mins away by car in Kendal , and there is no local shop or pub within walking distance. There are some lovely walks straight out of the front door of the cottage , and there is a lovely big garden .
I highly recommend this beautiful holiday cottage .
We had a wonderful stay at Butterfly cottage to celebrate my 40th birthday. There are walks directly from the cottage and its a short drive to many more. The best things about the cottage itself are the wood-burning stove in the evening, the open-plan communal living space, and the modern amenities - everything works, which is not always the case in some rental cottages. I would definitely recommend this one.
We recently spent a weekend at Butterfly Cottage. Our party consisted of grandparents, parents and 2 young grandchildren. All 6 of us loved the cottage as it had everything one would need for an enjoyable stay. It was lovely and warm on arrival with the added option of lighting the log burning fire. Lots of logs and firelighters were provided. The cottage was spotlessly clean. It was nicely decorated and furnished to a high standard throughout and was exceptionally comfortable and spacious. The kitchen was particularly well-equipped with quality crockery, cutlery, glassware, pans etc.
Our visit was in winter but at other times of the year there is a lovely barbecue area in the garden. We loved the snowdrops lining the driveway and watching the birds feeding. Another plus is its location as there are so many attractions and nice places to visit nearby. The owner of the cottage was extremely helpful and friendly both throughout the booking process and during our visit. We wold have no hesitation in returning or recommending it to others.
