Belvèze Barn Rental Photos and Description

Gite in Tarn et Garonne, Midi-Pyrenees, France - Terre Negre in Belveze ,Peaceful Rural Location, Situated Near The Medieval Village Of Lauzerte

This beautiful Gite is in a converted stone barn with high beamed ceilings and has it's own private terrace for dining, whilst you gaze at the views of the surrounding countryside and listen to the birds. The Gite is near the owner's house, but completely independent and private and not overlooked. The property is set in over 4 acres of land, including woods, dingly dell paths and a meadow full of rare wild flowers and orchids in the Spring. In the summer you can help yourself to the cherries, apples, pears, plums , damsons, figs and peaches that grow in the orchard - a perfect place to have your picnic. Or just merely sit and gaze at the wildlife around. See if you can spot the wild deer who visit the meadow or the large brave hare not to mention numerous birds which include buzzards, larks, woodpeckers, blue tits , owls, golden orioles, doves. Or just spend the day lazing in the hammock with a good book or sitting by the solar heated, salt water pool.

About Mimi

Having both lived in London, and enjoyed the fast paced life there for over 20 years we decided that a new chapter was needed. This is the chapter of peace, fresh air, birdsong, wildlife, bunnies and time for good friends, laughter and wine.

Why Mimi chose Tarn-et-Garonne

This area is well known for it's outstanding natural beauty. The summer is spectacular with it's fields of sunflowers that seem to be nodding 'bonjour' to you as you drive by leisurely. Birds celebrate the arrival of spring with their heart lifting songs and the land is awash with blossom, purple irises, buds, flowers and warmth. With the unspoilt rolling hills, fields and woods to gaze upon it is easy to let go and breathe deeply.

Heaven .

What makes this barn unique

There are myriad little hill top villages with nooks and crannies to explore. Roquecor, Tournon, Penne d'Agennais with it's winding little alleys and cafes, restaurants and a spectacular vista. Nearby Lauzerte is a delightful medieval village steeped in history. Sunday mornings can be lazily enjoyed with a pre lunch preamble around the market in Montcuq . Moissac with it's abbey and cloisters is definitely worth a visit. Less than an hour away is Cahors famous for it's delicious inky wines. Toulouse the pink city just over an hour away. Chateaux, vineyards, farms, lakes all a short drive away. Nearer to home is Montaigu du Quercy's lake with swimming, beaches, diving, children's play areas, cafe and parking. All at 5 mins drive away.

Fantastic Family Holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week at Terre Negre with our 16 month old daughter. The gite is beautiful with lots of original features and fantastic views across unspoiled rural countryside. The swimming pool was brilliant and enjoyed by all with the entire property letting you escape from it all with chickens, dogs, table-tennis, fresh fruit and a trampoline. Mimi and Simon were great and they have promised that everyone who stays gets at least one portion of home-made trifle each visit! Fully recommended and brilliant for children!

A great little find

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mimi and Simon's gite. The gite is immaculately clean and has everything you need for your holiday. The grounds are beautiful and the swimming pool was very welcome on the hot summer days (and it is much bigger in real life than it looks in the photos!) The area is very pretty and there are lots of scenic drives or walks that you can take. We recommend going cray fishing with Mimi and the dogs, but wear old clothes! Mimi and Simon went out of their way to make sure our holiday was everything we wanted it to be, but without being too intrusive. They will leave you to it if you just want to chill out on your own, or will go into town with you for the local fete and they can recommend loads of decent restaurants and places to go and things to do. We feel like we have made 3 new friends and they also convinced us to get a puppy when we got back to the UK! We left there very reluctantly and with tears in our eyes but we really hope to get back there in summer 2014. They are excellent hosts and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending their property to anyone.
