Cornwall House Rental Photos and Description

House near Truro, Cornwall, England - Peaceful Location From Small Vibrant Cathedral City Of Truro

Lovely house in the extensive grounds of Bodrean Manor, yet quite private in itself. The property was built in 1870 and modernised by ourselves. There is full central heating,WIFI and Sky + tv (film & sport)-you can sip your morning coffee on the cobbles and later in the day relax on a large lawn and have a barbecue. The location is excellent for both coasts (approx 16 mins) and very near the extremely attractive small cathedral city of Truro, which has many restaurants, theatre, cinema and strong retailing centre.

About Dr Anthony Hambly

Retired Cornish doctor who has brought up his family in lovely manor house near Truro as well as making a lovely garden and modernising the Coach House nearby. I come from an old Cornish family and also own a unique house in Port Isaac (14th generation to do so!) as well as a beach holiday house at Daymer Bay.

Dr Anthony Hambly purchased this house in 1980

Why Dr Anthony Hambly chose Cornwall

Because it was rural yet near Truro - it happens to be one of the nicest houses in the area with beautiful bluebell woods and enviable location yet near both coasts!

What makes this house unique

Space and privacy with all mod cons.

I looked at a lot of properties, wanting a rental for 6 of us attending a family wedding in Truro, we were all very glad we chose The Coach House it is wonderful. The location is ideal, close to Truro but with easy access to the A30 without going through the city. The setting is absolutely beautiful and peaceful down a tree lined drive with extensive lovely gardens. We enjoyed seeing the pheasants and bats and foxes, a great place for wildlife lovers. The teenagers enjoyed the tennis court and the little ones loved the huge games room.Even the older folks enjoyed a game of table tennis! It is a really spacious country house, full of and was warm and cosy even in November. It is also very well equipped, nicely decorated and comfortable. It would be an ideal place for a holiday with a young family or for groups of friends/family of any age.It proved an ideal place for a wedding party, and we were able to entertain family and friends, the bride and her entourage even used the games room to get ready for the wedding as it was so spacious and it was lovely for some photographs. I would recommend it to anyone and hope we can return one day soon.

fantastic place to stay with young children. they loved to go and play amongst the gardens while we, the parents were able to sit in the garden and have a coffee!. the use of the tennis court was brilliant, we used it all the time. lovely and quiet and very safe. the kids loved watching the bats fly out of the roof top ledges at night. A definate place to recommend.

Activity & Outdoors Family Holiday Base

  • 4 of 5

The Coach House was a great base for a week in and about Truro and is also well located for a quick run up to the beaches on the North Coast. It is a terrific property in an idyllic secluded setting, with the look and quirkiness of a French gîte. The extensive grounds were fabulous for the kids, for whom it was the stuff of childhood adventures and nocturnal bat spotting. The farmer next door offered us fresh eggs when we bumped into him and the tennis court is excellent. Table tennis was also popular (if we came again we’d bring our own bats and balls) but scrabble resulted in arguments. Better fun and better value than staying in Padstow.
