About Claire Fage

My name is Claire, myself and my mother have owned and lived in this beautiful Cave House since 2001. We have restored and transformed a basic cave house, had electric and plumbing fitted and brought together modern day living with the charm and beauty of this very old property. We now rent so others may sample life living in a cave house.

Claire Fage purchased this chateau / country house in 2001

Why Claire Fage chose Orihuela

It is a quiet and stunning location, with beautiful views. But with easy access to larger towns and airports.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

No need for air conditioning.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Cave House ticked all the boxes for my holiday. Cool enough to dip in and out of on some seriously hot days, +40C most of the days I was there. All the amenities you need are available and the house is nice and spacious. The outside area is more than adequate and I've never known a pool as warm in all the times I have been to Spain. La Murada has more than enough bars and restaurants and the market on the Sundays was extremely busy. The house is on the outskirts of the town so if you want to be out and about a car really is essential, but the owners had no qualms about running us into town the night we wanted to be able to have a drink, negating anyone having to worry about driving. There's a new Carrefour on the edge on Orihuela (about 15/20 minutes drive) which provides more choice than the local supermarkets, and Orihuela itself is a nice little town. Find the Tranvia Cafe in the square, the food is exquisite. At night the house comes into its own as you are able to sit under glorious skys away from civilisation in total peace and tranquility. The owners were brilliant all the time we were there with nothing being too much and it was a pleasure for us to spend two evenings with them over drinks up on their terrace at the back. We couldn't have been happier. Oliver.

Beautiful property in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Me and my family have really enjoyed staying here...really didn't want to leave! The views are amazing and the house was perfect for us...made only better by Claire and Martin's hospitality. Lovely people who were more than happy to stop and share local knowledge and recommend places to go/eat. Kids loved the pool area and the different seating areas all had lovely views. Garden is extremely well kept and thriving and anywhere you sit you are surrounded by it. Wish we booked longer! I would recommend hiring a car, although the local village isn't far away its worth getting a car for shopping and day trips

We stayed for my mum 60th and we loved it.

  • 4 of 5

Clean and well presented.

Claire was helpful and kindly picked up some food stuff for us in advance of our arrival. We arrived exceptionally late due to flight delays but she took the time to show us were everything was. Kids really enjoyed the pool and the bbq. The rooms were very clean and having sweets and drinks in the cave was a nice touch. The big supermarket nearby was discreet but very handy.

I loved the cave, loved the area,

the Sunday market was brilliant - Fresh churros were a revelation!

and have recommended the villa to so many people.

We can't wait to come back .....

Well laid out house and garden. Incredibly cool inside despite the heat outside. Very quiet area but within walking distance to shops etc in nearby town. Comfortable beds. Owner very friendly and helpful.

Great place to stay in lovely countryside

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a great week at the Cave House, a mixed group of 6 cyclists who all enjoyed the area and coming home to a welcoming house with a great pool. Claire made us very welcome and removed all the transfer hassle - even for our bikes!

The bedrooms stayed cool at night and the grounds hot by day.

Excellent bars and restaurants in the nearby town.

Highly recommended.

Location idéale pour l'été

  • 3 of 5

Owner's Response: It is sad the weather was very unkind to this family and it rained heavily the whole week, which made it difficult to find things to do having 2 young children. Now where looks as good in the rain as it does with the sun shinning. This family had an added problem with their carwhich had a fault this resulted in taking them much longer to drive to anywhere. Hopefully we made their stay better by providing heaters and advice.
