Penthouse Apartment in Hacienda Del Sol, Benamara, Nr. Estepona, Costa Del Sol, Spain - Peaceful Location, 5 Minutes Walk To The Beach And Amenities, Secure Gated Luxury Complex In The Sun
About Kellie Sharp
Hello! We are Tony & Kellie Sharp. We have a son who is 5 years old and a real entertaining little man! We also have 2 Papillon toy dogs, Alfie & Barnie, who now enjoy living in Spain. We decided to make the move to Spain in August 2014 and we have never looked back.
Kellie Sharp purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why Kellie Sharp chose Estepona
We chose Hacienda Del Sol having holidayed in the area for over 10 years. Our parents have property nearby, there are superb golf courses to hand, the climate is the best in Europe. The Spanish way of life is very relaxing, their cuisine is superb, and this coastline has all the creature comforts we are accustomed to in the UK. This luxury development is totally secure, and allows complete peace of mind to switch off from the outside world....a stroll to the beach, a stroll to numerous restaurants, a short bus ride to manic Puerto Banus. We simply love being here to enjoy the rewards we put into our work in the UK.
What makes this Apartment unique
Location, location, location..... This development was highlighted by a famous UK TV programme as offering the very best combination of facilities. On the Costa Del Sol, we were advised to stay away from the large resorts, and head for the New Golden Mile, where we found tranquility, luxury, quality, and a beautiful climate. This Penthouse offers the best property of its type in the area, built by Realia to a very high standard (think solid marble floors, Roca ceramics and aircon, Hans Grohe bathroom furniture); we were amazed that the entire flat roof was a solarium, so installed a jacuzzi hot tub to complement the brick-built BBQ. It is not overlooked, so you are free to dress as you please. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach mean we do little driving over here.

Excellent apartment with all you need, hot tub day or night a bonus
Had a great relaxing holiday in Estepona and the apartment with its roof top terrace made it. The pool was amazing, large, deep and lots of fun. Considering it was August we were surprised at how quiet it was, no complaints though, we liked it this way. The lifeguard was not fussed about us jumping onto lilos, diving or similar so was a great area. Should you want total privacy then the rooftop was a great alternative and the sangria therefore only downstairs in the fridge below! We even used the gym and played table tennis on site although the gym could do with air conditioning and the paddle/short tennis was private and not for hire.
Had a minor air con problem on day one but Tony was great and had it sorted the same day whilst we were at the pool. The apartment was well stocked and they also provided 6 pool towels which was a bonus.
Several meals/BBQs were had upstairs on the terrace watching the sun go down which often followed by competitive games of cards and a nighttime hot tub with a glass of wine or gin!
We took our 17 year old daughter and friend and they were perfectly content with the good Wi-fi connection in all areas, the pool and roof top space.
We didn’t try too many local restaurants but went out further usually, driving or using Uber which surprisingly were pretty good and quick. Had a day trip to Gibraltar, only takes 45 mins to get there but possibly the same time to get actually across and on due to traffic unfortunately. You now can’t drive to the top which is unfortunate as we waited rather a long time for the cable car!! Well worth it though, loved the fun we had with the Barbary Apes!
All in all a great relaxing holiday, thank you Kelly and Tony.
As my son and his wife and young child were visiting us in the UK for a couple of weeks, we decided to fit in a family holiday and chose Kellie's lovely apartment. So glad we did It had everything we could wish for to make our stay so enjoyable - the only problem was we could not stay longer!
The apartment was very spacious and well equipped and the roof terrace very inviting. The underground car parking space was a must in very hot weather.. The complex and its facilities were also excellent and the proximity of 2 excellent beach bars and the Aldi supermarket was an added bonus.
Would definitely stay again and hopefully longer next time.
Great property, flexible landlord and good location
Quiet (May) and very well kept property. Has all you need for a family holiday. Five pools to choose from, beach on walking distance and huge terrace with jacuzzi.
Fantastic family holiday apartment
We had a great time in this apartment. The photo's on line don't do it justice. The facilities were great in the apartment ( with an Aldi close buy) and we took advantage of the BBQ and hot tub on many occasions watching the sun set. With 3 adults and two 16 year olds it was good to have the space inside the apartment as well as separate balcony areas in addition to the upper level penthouse area. The pool area was spacious with plenty of sun beds and a great setting. The lifeguards were vigilant and very friendly ( unlike a previous review). They made sure the sun beds weren't unfairly reserved and allowed ball games and inflatables in the pool.
The location was on a good bus route which served Puerto Banus and Marbella for just over 2 euros each way. We did however benefit from having a car as we ventured to Ronda and the local village of Benahavis which had live music and loads of great restaurants.
We would recommend this apartment.
Fabulous! It was beyond our expectations.
A great place to relax and unwind. Great location for beaches, bars and local restaurants. The roof terrace is fantastic and the pools are lovely.
Very usefully, there's a new Aldi next door
The apartment is very good: spacious, well equipped and generally clean.
The grounds of the complex are immaculate: the downside of this was that there was an almost constant noise of mowers, hedge trimmers and leaf-blowers. While we were staying, for 3 consecutive days, an angle-grinder was in use for many hours each day just below the apartment. Not too relaxing!
The main road along the coast (directly behind the complex) really does cut the resort (and many others along the Costa del Sol) in half. Some information about travelling to local resorts would have been useful. In some cases you had to get on the dual carriage-way and go a junction or two in the opposite direction and then turn around to go where you wanted to. There were no road signs indicating this and it must be a problem that everyone staying here would encounter if they are driving.
The many swimming pools look absolutely beautiful. However, be aware that there are some very 'fierce' lifeguards ‘protecting’ them. The pool areas were extremely quiet with plenty of loungers and parasols available but you were not allowed to float quietly on a lilo, rubber ring or woggle - even if the pool was completely empty. Two adults gently throwing a small inflatable ball to each other were very loudly told-off. We saw several families literally shouted at for inadvertently breaking the rules. I think this is quite an important detail to be aware of before booking a holiday as for some holiday-makers this could be a big part of a Spanish ‘pool’ holiday.
(We were told by some people, who owned an apartment in the complex and who rent out their apartment, that some full-time residents are unhappy that there are holiday makers coming and going in the complex and therefore ensure the rules are rigorously enforced - much to the embarrassment of many quiet, well-behaved families.) It made for quite a tense atmosphere around the pool for a large part of the holiday.
Two extremely secure underground car-parking spaces come with the apartment but do not hire a large car – you will not get it in!
The two 5 star hotels very nearby mentioned in the details do not accept non-residents for drinks or dinner during the high season. You cannot get past the security gates. This might be different at quieter times of the year, though.
Taninos restaurant and bar is well worth a visit - even the teenagers in our group were impressed.
The local sandy beach (Atalaya) is less than 5 minutes away on foot via a level pathway. Two beach bars serve food and beverages during the day and evening. Sun loungers available to hire. You can walk for miles in each direction...
The beautiful beach of San Pedro with its promenade & cafes is 5 minutes by car. Estepona and Puerto Banus beaches are only 10 minutes by car or bus. All offer a lovely selection of restaurants and chiringuitos, water sports and free promenade gym equipment!
Our local airport is Malaga which is approx 45 kilometres away and will take approx 45 mins by car. A superb motorway avoids the traffic. Alternatively, take the bus from the airport to Marbella bus station, then hop on the Estepona bus (tell driver to stop at "Isdabe") direct to our Penthouse (100 metres). Of course, golfers may want a car in any case, so rent one at the airport.
For additional flight choices, Gibraltar airport is 50 minutes by car. Monarch and EasyJet offer UK flights.
There are many places to go and visit, please find below a small list of recommended places to go and see, in brackets you will find the approx drive time. These are just a few that we have been to see and enjoyed:
Selwo Animal Park (15 mins).
Puerto Banus (9 mins).
Marbella Town Centre (12 mins).
Aqualand (30 mins).
Laguna Village (8 mins).
Benahavis (15 mins).
Estepona Port (10 mins).
La Canada Shopping Centre (20 mins).
Ronda town (1 hour).
The local shops are within walking distance (200 yards) to Diana Park and include a supermarket, English butcher, cafe, hairdresser, newsagent, Irish pub, several restaurants, banks, vets and dog groomer. There are lots of places to visit along the coast and you are on the coastal bus route should you decide not to hire a car. Within walking distance (20 minutes) is San Pedro De Alcantara, which is a large Spanish town with a superb beach and promenade as well as a good selection of shops and restaurants. For a night out, Puerto Banus is 9 minutes away and is also on the bus route. It is considered by many to be "the millionaires playground" with excellent restaurants down by the port where luxury yachts, people and supercar watching is a must! There is also an excellent choice of designer boutiques including Jimmy Choo, Burberry and Louis Vuitton to name just a few.
The pretty town of Ronda is about 1 hours drive inland and well worth a visit. If you fancy a day trip to Morocco then you can get the ferry to Tangiers from Tarifa which is about 1.5 hours drive.
For a day out with the children try Torremolinos where you will find a water park, Tivoli World theme park and crocodile park. At Benalmadena there is a cable car and Sea Life centre;whilst Fuengirola has a zoo. All are within 30 minutes drive from the accommodation.
