About Paul Cattermole
Hi my name is Paul, my wife's name is Susan, we have been married for over 40 yrs and have 3 grown up children. Our UK residence is in the peak district and we have had 2 properties in Bolnuevo over the last 16 years, it is a lovely part of Spain. and we have lived there for a few years while 2 of our children lived in our UK house. Our eldest daughter has our two grandchildren our youngest daughter has now had our granddaughter in july 2016 , followed by a 2nd grandaughter in 2018 and we want to spend some time in the UK and do the grandparent thing, we both love the sun, eating out, golf. Entertaining and the outdoor life of Bolnuevo is great. Murcia has a lot of golf courses and is a great base for looking round the sights of Spain we are very proud of our Spanish property and we are sure you will love it. new for 2016 part air-con. bank transfers no additional charge
Paul Cattermole purchased this Villa in 2004
Why Paul Cattermole chose Mazarrón
The location of Bolnuevo is ideal for everybody the ease of access or its remoteness from the crowds. The villa is high enough for good views and to catch the breeze, but not too far uphill to walk. One of the things we like is the micro climate and the cooling breeze we tend to get during the night, within a minute of leaving the bungalow you can be climbing the mountain or be on your way to the beach, shops, restaurants, bars which are a mere 10 minutes away Great base for sightseeing areas such as Murcia or Cartagena which are about 40 minutes away by car or 1 hour by coach. Mazzarron is the local port and town which has a new marina where the rich tie up their million pound yachts, there is a new paseo to walk along with lots of shops every type of food you want and beach sports.
What makes this Villa unique
We enjoy the bungalow as a retreat as we can lock the gates and the walled garden gives lots of privacy. There is a large garden with fruit trees, large patio and a great sized pool. we are never bored and use it as a home not just a holiday home and we don't tend to go out every night but enjoy eating outside with friends over a drink, we do have TV with Sky, & spanish aerial. a DVD player and a CD player. Outside there is a pergola which provides shade and is a relaxing place to enjoy a meal, the built in BBQ is great for outdoor cooking, the porch is a great place for having breakfast or to relax and read a book, whilst the sunroof terrace which houses the Sky dish is a fine place to view the sea on one side and mountain on the other, there is space to sunbathe. There is parking under cover on the driveway, new for 2016 some air conditioning

A welcome family break
We had a lovely stay at Sue & Paul's home in Bolnuevo. Ideally situated a short distance away from the buzz of Bolnuevo and Puerto De Mazarrón, it was a great place to stay.
The pool is fantastic and is ideal for younger children and older adults which we had both of within our party. We felt safe and secure in the villa, and this allowed us to relax even further once we had realised this. The outdoor space is great with a terrific gazebo and BBQ that we made use of most nights.
The main villa is very traditionally Spanish. It has everything you require - washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, TV, DVD etc.
We did have a few issues with power and water in the first week, but as we had Sue & Paul available on WhatsApp these were dealt with speedily and efficiently. We would recommend aircon throughout the villa, at present it is only available in the main bedroom and living room. The other bedrooms were very hot and this made for an uncomfortable nights sleep at times during our stay. Although it mentioned Sky TV was available, this wasn't the case. There are Sky boxes, but they only offered minimal channels, fewer than UK Freeview.
Overall, this is an excellent villa and we would highly recommend it for a great family holiday. This was the first time we had stayed in a private villa and Sue & Paul have been fantastic throughout the whole process, you couldn't ask for better owners to deal with.
thankyou for the review, it was a pleasure to host this family.
just a point or two, the power issue was a general power cut and not in our control. the tv situation in spain means we cannot get all the channels available in uk.
we do provide UK tv and spanish tv, also dvd for films. we include internet in our bookings also.
where bedrooms do not have air con we provide ceiling fans.
Fantastic villa, ideally situated.
The property is ideally appointed, inside and out, for families or a group of friends alike, and is clean and well maintained. There were 6 of us, but it could comfortably accommodate 8 people. The villa has everything for a quiet, relaxing break, but is also a short walk to a spacious beach with great restaurants and bars. Only a 40 minute drive from Murcia airport also makes the travelling and transfer painless. Steve & Heather were extremely welcoming and helpful and, if needed, are on call for any issues. The owners, Paul and Sue, made the booking very straightforward and couldn't have been more helpful. We would highly recommend the villa and would like to visit again. Chris & Chris
Very impressive villa
The villa is huge! Loads of space inside and out. Although there were only four of us is was great. It was very hot when we stayed so we were grateful for the ceiling fans and the air con. The outside space was very nice and well equipped. Slight problem with lots of wasps, but that was the time of year and also a lot of mosquitos at night which wasn't great, but no fault of the owners! The villa was very well equipped, the kitchen etc. Lots of towels. Although there isn't much in the town, a few restaurants and a supermarket there were some very nice places to drive to. We had a car for the two weeks we stayed. There is room to park off road and under a sun shelter. Overall the villa was very nice and I would highly recommend. The owners were easy to communicate with and the people they used to hand over the keys was all very easy and hassle free, which is just what you want.
Thankyou for your kind review
We do our best and even thought we'd managed to clear the wasps! It's been that sort of summer this year.
A beautiful, little part of spain
Before we even arrived, we where told to make ourselves at home, which made us feel very comfortable in the property, Our favourite part of the property was the outside area and of course the pool, which was perfect for our party! The house had everything you needed and more, and Paul and sue where always on hand to should you need it.
The town down the hill was quiet, but just what we required, It had everything you might need, a Spa shop, many bars and restaurants all the ones we visited where very friendly and accommodating, if you wanted a little more life the next town Puerto Mazarron which was only €1.15 each on a short bus route, This had more facilities, including a weekly market which was massive and had a range of goods from fresh fruit veg, cheese to clothes bags jewellery etc, we also sampled so restaurants here and again no complaint! I would recommend this property ten times over and I hope to make arrangements to come again, thank you Paul and Sue 😀
Thank you for your lovely review.
We are so glad you enjoyed your holiday.
The villa was as described - well equipped. spacious, lots of outside room with tables and chairs on all four sides and loungers beside the lovely pool.
Bolnuevo was quiet but good selection of restaurants in nearby Puerto de Mazarron
Beautiful villa, helpful owners
I stayed at the villa earlier this month for one week. As a group of 7 (mixed ages including a 9 month old baby) I found the villa to be fully equipped and suitable for all ages.
The villa itself is very spacious - all of the rooms are good sizes and the owners kindly ensured that we had a cot, high chair and push chair at our disposal. The pool area was lovely and well maintained and we had a choice of loungers, BBQs and tables and chairs which were situated in different areas around the villa.
The villa had absolutely everything we required - even board games and DVDs and the owners left plenty of information for us regarding the local area and were easily contacted when we needed advice about the wifi.
The area itself is very nice and quiet and about a 10 minute walk to the beach and local shops, bars and restaurants.
I would recommend hiring a car as the uphill incline from the local shops to the villa proved quite difficult for my dad who suffers from angina and arthritis and the nearest large supermarket and local port were best reached by car, however there is a local bus.
We enjoyed the villa and area so much that we are hoping to return. I would definitely recommend the villa as it was a wonderful home away from home that had absolutely everything we needed for a peaceful family holiday.
10 mins walk to local beach.10 mins drive to Puerto Mazarron, also accessed by bus or the seasonal small train. All beaches are European Blue Flag and range from child friendly to rugged coasts. La Isla beach particularly popular with its sandy beach and shallow water with pedal boats. This area of Spain has the lowest rainfall, on average 29 days a year, featured as one the healthiest place in the world in the daily telegraph 2012
Fly to San Javier(Murcia) only 40 mins drive by either the scenic mountainous route or the new toll road. Fly to Alicante, just over an hour away by A7 motorway. There is a local bus service from Bolnuevo to Puerto Mazarron, Mazarron, Murcia or Alhama. A car is useful and can be hired from airports or locally.if you prefer not to drive from the airport we have a friend with a taxi who can pick you up ,another friend in bolnuevo has a car hire firm if you just want a car for a couple of days
10 mins walk to Bolnuevo seafront with shops, chemist, restaurants and bars.

Murcia has some beautiful scenery and interesting architecture and churches. Murcia city has lovely old town, with beautiful squares and a magnificent cathedral. if shopping is your thing there are 2 big areas, including C&A, Primark, Zara, Ikea and others. Lorca, with its castle on the hill. Cartagena, maritime centre and roman remains. Sierra Espuna, national park, fantastic views, small restaurants/bars, flora and fauna. Thermal baths at Archena in lovely wooded surroundings. Locally a visit to the "guns" is fascinating, large artillery on top of hill overlooking Mazarron bay.
