About Miss Helen Ward

I bought this house 21 years ago because I loved the river with all the boating and kayaking on my doorstep , it is my main home , I am a well travelled designer and have lived and worked abroad over the years . I Run my own small business (have an office in the front garden which may need to be accessed now and then). The house is in a very pretty sunny spot in a safe gated community. Please be aware that Our little cat will stay with you during your visit ! It’s a home from home, and there is lots to do, tho the main attraction for me is the lovely River Thames!

Miss Helen Ward purchased this house in 1995

Why Miss Helen Ward chose England

Amazing location on the river, unique , stylish , eclectic and super comfortable with great facilities like the swimming pool and the kayaks . So near to lots of attractions and all transport networks . Very easy to get into london and Windsor .

What makes this house unique

The 1930 Art Deco house has the swimming pool in the courtyard garden to the front and the river Thames to the rear .

3 X 2 man touring kayaks are on the private jetty waiting for you to explore the great river Thames .

It's in a sunny spot with several decks and terraces plus a balcony .

The house is unique with loads of character and artefacts from around the world .

Comments from our guest book

A lovely warm welcome to a very comfortable home. Loved the garden, pool and kyaking on the river. An ideal place to relax - Loved it.

The house is really good and the environment is so quiet. You feel you are staying in your second home. My kids loved the swimming and boating

We had a lovely 10 nights at this beautiful home. from the warm welcome when we arrived we instantly felt at home and will take away lots in interesting memories from Windsor. Many Thanks for providing the perfect base for our family holiday

We stayed for 9 days and had an enjoyable time. In particular the dining area, kitchen and conservatory were lovely spaces to enjoy, I can imagine that in the summer with access to the river with its own rowing boat and a swimming pool at the front of the property its a great place to be with kids. There are also kayaks available!! Its very convenient for all the attractions Berkshire has to offer in particular Windsor

We arrived to a lovely warm cottage ( even nicer than it looks online ) for Christmas . Everything had been thought of , we were comfortable , happy and fell in love with the cat . Absolutely will stay again . Family of six we had tons of room . Great comfort and even a gorgeous Christmas tree ! Lovely lovely stay .

Thoroughly enjoyed our week here in such a beautiful house . Used the rowing boat and kayaks every day and even braved the pool ! Kitten was very cute !

All in all a great week , thank you .

We have had a lovely week in this gorgeous house . So much to do . George loved the kayaks but didn't like being hissed at by the swans looking after their young ! Would definitely recommend this house to anyone .

Notes on accommodation: The minimum rental term is strictly one week .The property is not really suitable for toddlers and very young children (surrounded by water). The garden to the river is fenced and gated , the front pool garden is walled in. Single sex groups are not accepted. We would ask guests to respect our neighbours in the creek, the residents enjoy a peaceful communal atmosphere, It is a residential area and we ask guests to be mindful of our neighbours and respect their privacy. NO PARTIES are allowed to be held at the house . The maximum no of guests is 8. There are no pets allowed . PLEASE NOTE ....we have friendly resident HOUSE CAT who " lives in " with the guests . This is absolutely a non smoking house. Outside: The front garden is walled in with a swimming pool ( open june july august weather permitting)l and two deck areas with slate patios and a lawned area. This area is secured and private. Both gardens are beautifully lit in the evenings, perfect for barbecues. We have new rattan garden furniture with cushions in both gardens and a large gas barbecue. The riverside garden has a large wooden deck overhanging the creek and overlooking the boats, slate terraces and a lawned area. It really is a picturesque setting and a gorgeous sun trap. At the bottom of the garden, on the river mooring there are 3 x 2 man touring kayaks available for guests to use .Childrens lifes jackets are available. A disclaimer will need to be signed. There are parking spaces for 2 to 3 cars on the drive , parking in the creek is limited , it is a private road , we ask that there are no more than 3 cars to be parked at any one time at the house ( need to keep the neighbours happy ! ) Utility Room: Washing machine. Tumble drier. Sink with worktop and cupboards, Storage for coats/shoes. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: 1 set of Linen per bed and 1 bath towel per person is provided . There are hand towels in the bathrooms and tea towels in the kitchen . No pool towels are provided. Spare linen and towels are not provided (maid service at the end of your stay). A cozy, charming home away from home for our family's summer vacation!

  • 5 of 5

The moment our family walked in the door, we felt as if this house was hugging us with its warmth and charm and beauty and eclectic style. Everything we needed for our two-week stay was right there – comfortable beds, three toilets, bathtub, showers, well-equipped kitchen (with ovens, fridge, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, dishwasher, plenty of cutlery and crockery and cooking tools, cleaning supplies), wonderful dining room with huge family table, laundry with washer & dryer, sink, additional drying rack, front and back yards, a wonderful little swimming pool, lots of outdoor furniture, a new grill to barbecue on, great views overlooking the water, several kayaks, and even a sweet house kitty! The bus stops and train stations are a walk-able distance from the house, as well as a comfy Pub and a min-market for grocery runs. We enjoyed meeting Helen, who was super-responsive to our questions and any issues we had. She even brought in a new grill to replace the older model when she found out we planned to cook out on the weekend. The six of us also enjoyed a relaxing kayak expedition on the river in the three kayaks. We made many visits to London using the local trains to the Waterloo Station, as well as a couple of visits to the charming nearby town of Windsor. This house was perfect for us, and we really enjoyed our stay here!

Excellent property

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at this charming and well appointed property, which is a short drive from both Windsor and West London. The house has a spacious living room and kitchen and yet still has a cosy feel and although. Much thought has clearly gone into the interior decoration with influences from Asia and Europe and it feels very loved and lived in without being tatty. There is a friendly house cat which the children loved. There are kyaks to take out from the private mooring and a fantastic decking area and Swimming pool which we would have loved to use had we been staying in the summer! Overall I would not hesitate to recommmend this property and in particular to families.

The perfect location for a memorable and very happy visit to Windsor

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely lovely! This is a really attractive and individual family home on a creek inlet to the Thames. From the warm welcome given us by its owner on arrival, we were always at home. We were also quite captivated by the decor: the artefacts of many travels assembled with an artist's harmonious eye. With four adult couples from one family sharing, the very spacious living spaces were much appreciated. In total there are four as the wooden patio by the river is just as appealing as the conservatory, dining room and lounge. All have real character and suit different times of day. The kitchen was very well supplied and cooking was a good experience with huge, leisurely family meals well suited to the comfy (and large) dining table. All four bedrooms were comfy.

The proximity of Heathrow did not particularly bother us but the roar from low flying planes could be intrusive when we sat in the garden. We just made it part of the experience. They shut down at night so we also heard ducks on the river and birdsong. The river is a great pleasure and younger members of our group had fun on the kayaks while all of us enjoyed exploring the area. We had a relaxing and very happy week and take away the best of memories.

Beautiful, homely, spacious property

  • 4 of 5

On first arrival we were very excited about the location as it's in a prime spot with beautiful views. Walking into the house we were thrilled with the space, design and layout which was extremely comfortable and homely. The house was equipped with everything we needed. The pool was great fun although we had to cope with cold temperatures as we chose a Bad week for weather but we decided not to let it ruin our stay and went in the pool daily and ate outdoors when possible in the lovely front garden. Going out on the boats was another highlight and bonus to staying at this property. My children didn't want to leave. My only negative was the fact that the house is under the flight path . The first couple of nights we didn't sleep well at all but then we must have got a bit lucky as the flight path seemed to move over a little (just enough for us to sleep through the noise). Other than that, we had most enjoyable time and would recommend staying in the property to others. Thanks, Kelly.
