About Mrs Margaret Roche

Having visited the Lake District for many years we feel that the cottage is in the perfect location to enjoy all that the area has to offer - we love walking ourselves but also the cottage is a great place to escape the rat race and just relax. It really is the best place to unwind - it's so quiet! Having stayed in many places ourselves I think we try to provide the home comforts that we ourselves appreciate. To start your holiday off we always leave a welcome bottle of wine and some biscuits. Emailing me is the best way to reach me as I work full time and can't always get to the phone. I always check my email and always get back within 24 hours, usually sooner.

Why Mrs Margaret Roche chose England

The location - a really peaceful, tranquil location with magnificent views combined with ease of access to the Lake District.

What makes this cottage unique

Enjoying a day on the fells or the beach and then returning to enjoy the fabulous views from the patio.

Alternatively just enjoying the views and the sun from the south-facing patio.

Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week at Little Byre. There were three of us so it was ideal. The cottage is in a lovely spot overlooking the fells and fields and is easy to find. Inside it was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated with really comfortable beds!

The location is hard to beat too. Just ten minutes to the lakes, mountains and forests and in the other direction ten minutes to the coast. Wonderful!

Peaceful haven

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful cottage in a very peaceful location. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well maintained with lovely oak furniture and leather suite. Margaret was very prompt when answering our emails. The shortbread and wine were a lovely welcome gift. The cottage is well situated to enjoy the towns and villages of the Lakes and the beautiful coastal town. There is a lovely outside area to enjoy a glass of wine or just enjoy the views over Skiddaw. We are hoping to return next year and would certainly recommend.

Perfect holiday home

  • 4 of 5

Little Byre exceeded our expectations - the cottage was spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming after a long journey, and very well equipped. The limited parking was not an issue. Local shopping was easily done in the next village. Lovely views from the patio, which was great for breakfast on sunny mornings, although in the shade by evening. We thoroughly appreciated the quiet location, and enjoyed evening drinks at The Grey Goat Inn where we found a friendly welcome. . A great base for walking and exploring this beautiful area. Highlights were Osprey Watch,Hilltop (Beatrix Potter's cottage), and the view from Catbells across Derwenwater towards Keswick. The Pencil Museum,Keswick is well worth a visit too. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful location, and hope to return one day.

Little Byre was a little gem, lots of lovely touches made for a thoroughly enjoyable stay. I would wholeheartedly recommend Little Byre as a home away from home in the Lake District.

We (three adults) stayed in this property for 3 nights. It is very well equipped for a comfortable stay (even for longer stays) and a short drive away from all the attractions.
