Tiwi House is tucked into a gentle curve of the beach at the north end of Tiwi beach. The property consists of a fully furnished and equipped four-bedroom house, with a swimming pool between verandah and beach. The house has an amazing ocean landscape. We have our own private steps down coral cliffs to a quiet beach. Tiwi House sleeps 9 in 4 bedrooms that have their own individual bathrooms with ceiling fans, some air conditioning and a full staff. Holiday letting is all the year round including Easter, Christmas and the New Year. Relax, swim in sea or pool, sunbathe, go sightseeing and shopping in Diani; snorkelling, diving, bird-watching, sailing, water sports and deep sea fishing are all available; a 40 minute drive takes you to the Shimba Hills Game Park and lodge; an hour and a half to Shimoni and the Maritime Park.

About Vivi and John Marshall
We live in England but spend a great deal of our time in Kenya, where we have made friends and enjoy the country. We love Tiwi for the private nature of its beach; the Kisite Marine Park boasts some of the best snorkelling and fun scuba diving there is. Nearby Diani has some very good restaurants. There really is something for everyone here. The area is easily accessible with Ukunda airport less than 35 minutes drive away and 90 minutes to Moi International at Mombasa. The property is absolute barefoot luxury!
Vivi and John Marshall purchased this House in 2008

Idyllic view of the beach. Crystal pool and lovely living area. I do think the house staff could do with some training to be a bit more professional and in keeping with other similar beach house staff. And air co ditioning would be great! Thanks for a lovely stay.
Many thanks for your generous review of Tiwi House. Your observation about the professionalism of the staff is a little surprising since guests staying previously have remarked on the good service they have experienced. So that we can improve in this respect, it would be useful to know which aspects let down a high standard please.
The current high cost of running air conditioning plant would make the rental fees unsustainable; perhaps, we should consider these to be an optional extra since we find the steady sea breezes make for reasonable comfort.
With kind regards,
For myself and 2 children safety and privacy were my top requirements in a friendly, relaxed environment offering private pool and views with access to the beach for which Tiwi House provided all and over and above our expectations in cleanliness and comfort. The House Staff in particular Joseph were simply fabulous, quietly in the background if required. Fresh fish and fruits and a fabulous Chef who shopped for us was the icing on the cake. My only request having struggled with the humidity and heat at night would have been the option to pay for air conditioning as the fans were for myself insufficient but that is a preference not a complaint and for many probably not an issue. Many thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this most wonderful holiday home which I would highly recommend to my family, friends and business associates - thank you
Our family had a great few days at Tiwi House. John was easy to communicate with, Joseph and the rest of the staff made us feel welcome and catered to our comfort. The house was beautiful and spacious, the beach and pool provided lots of fun. We made lasting memories to treasure.
Thank you so much for this generous review. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed yourselves; we gather that you had quite a lot of rain initially so, trust your spirits were not dampened!
With kind regards,
Vivi and John
Just loved it!
Thank you very much for letting us stay at Villa Tiwi this xmas season 2015. The villa is just amazing! The owners very always responsive and kind to all questions I had before during and after our stay.
The villa is very well kept and clean. Villa manager Joseph is very kind and helpful and handles all issues with great care. All other staff members very equally great hosts. Bedrooms, bathrooms, living room, all just perfect. The kitchen is very well equiped. We hired at little extra costs a professional cook (George) who was worth every penny. The swimming pool is the center of this place. Very well done! The place is huge so upto nine persons can easily stay at the place (we were six).
The remote location is a great advantage yet a disadvantage at the same time. Very peaceful and quiet. Should you however want to do some shopping or visit a restaurant, you need a car (25 minutes to Diani Beach).
Some other remarks:
- the villa has no A/C (which I would have liked in the bedroom) and no internet/wifi (which I did not miss after all).
- the beach can be easily accessed. The beach is amazingly beautiful. Or rather it could be. Natural and especially man-made debris spoil a great place. Co-operative efforts would greatly upgrade the beach. I would have also liked some possibilities for watersports activities in Tiwi.
- the listing description accurately reflects the place: you get what you see!
This is definitely a place I would return!!
We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay a Tiwi House and that you have reflected on your experiences in such a complimentary way. The criticisms are fair and we will be looking into these during our forthcoming stay at Tiwi House. We are very sorry about the state of the beach which does vary, particularly after a spell of high winds when more seaweed seems to get torn out of the depths - plastic etc. is a worldwide phenomemom and we will do our best in future to see that Tiwi House frontage, at least, is kept as clear as practicable by asking Mfaki, the gardener in charge of our overall beach area, to keep it clear - especially when guests are in residence.
Wifi has become a problem recently with the ISP not responding but, one solution is the "Orange" network.
It would be nice to think that you might return one day - Tiwi peace v Diani life; a conundrum!
Special interest holidays:
The beach is on your doorstep under one minute away down stone steps cut into the coral cliff. The sand is beautifully white; the sea recedes over the reef at low tide and swimming is gentle.
Mombasa's Moi International Airport is one and a half hour's drive away across the Likoni ferry. The Ukunda airstrip for local flights and private charters is a 30 minutes drive. Car hire is not essential but recommended.
A ten minute drive takes you to Tiwi village for very local small shops and stalls. Diani, a popular European tourist destination is 12 kilometres (25 minutes) drive away to the south. There you will find banks, restaurants, supermarkets, boutiques, bars, discos, casinos, car rental, hospitals, dentists and any number of roadside stalls.
Shimba Hills Game Park and Lodge is 45 minutes drive up into some slightly cooler and less humid hills. The Shimoni/Kisite Marine Park is one and a half hours away to the south. A huge variety of safaris to all the game parks can be arranged at the Diani Safari agents. Almost all will start by collecting you from your door.
