Surrounded by over 20 acres of sunbaked olive groves and fruit orchards, Trullove is a magnificent trullo complex that has recently been restored using ancient stone masonry techniques. Ideal for families and larger groups of friends, the property sleeps up to 16 people, as it consists of tastefully furnished 6 cone trulli, 2 lamie with barrel-vaulted ceilings and a separate villetta, giving all members of the family or group their own space. A unique 18 x 7 metre infinity edge private swimming pool incorporates a 4 metre children’s dipping pool. Lovely shaded drystone walled travertine terraces and patios with padded stone seats, sun loungers and umbrellas transform the garden and pool area into splendid open-air lounges, creating an enchanting place to relax. The house is located in a quiet country lane that leads up to Monte Trazzonara, so the area benefits from a gentle breeze year round, making it a pleasant place to unwind, even in the hottest summer months.
My name is Lu and together with my husband Eric, we have been successfully running a ten-strong multilingual communication agency based in an old railway station in Mechelen - Belgium for more than 25 years now. We have four children and three grandchildren, aged between 2 and 11.
My husband wrote a book on Puglia ("Welcome to Unspoilt Puglia"). We are glad to offer this enthusiastically reviewed travel guide free of charge to whoever spend their holiday on our property. It is also for sale on amazon.co.uk.
If your heart is set on discovering Puglia, this richly illustrated travel guide invites you on a hauntingly beautiful journey through this unspoilt part of Italy. It provides oodles of historical and sightseeing information and an unrivalled wealth of photographs that lovingly capture Puglia's enigmatic soul, while taking the reader beyond the imposing walls of cathedrals and castles, through labyrinthine streets of art-drenched Baroque towns to ancient Greek and Roman ruins, seemingly goblin-built villages, fairy-tale trullo houses, empty beaches, unspoilt views, a mouth-wateringly good cuisine and genuinely warm people.
We love Puglia for its nonchalant simplicity, its beautiful countryside, its wonderful sandy coastlines, the fabulous food, the amazing wines and olive oils, the weather and above all the laid-back, open-hearted and friendly locals. And we particularly love the Itria valley part of Puglia because of the intriguing trulli that are so unique for this area and the proximity of fascinating old towns like Martina Franca, Ceglie Messapica, Ostuni, Locorotondo, Cisternino and Grottaglie.
While it is a beautifully restored old trullo house which oozes character it’s also unusually spacious. The set-up of the accommodation offers great flexibility and opportunity for families and larger groups of people to holiday together but at the same time with a great deal of independence, peace and privacy. The location is spectacular and especially from the roof terrace you feel surrounded by what seems like thousands of olive trees and fruit trees as far as the eye can see. What our guests enjoy most is lazing the day away around the enormous swimming pool, reputed to be the biggest in the Martina Franca area, soaking up the sunshine and picking ripe figs straight from our trees.
It was amazing to stay in a trulli villa after seeing many trulli on the way there. It was very comfortable and well kept. The large infinity pool was amazing with a very safe shallow end for children. All our meals were at the huge outdoor stone table provided with shade at lunch time and outdoor lights for the evenings.
The villa is a distance from other properties so the only noise was our own. The main trulli town of Alberobello is not far and the closer Martina Franca has a good supermarket for restocking once the generous amount of food and drink provided was all gone. We managed a day by the seaside to the north too.
This is a lovely villa with charm and character and a stunning pool and lovely surrounding countryside. It's very quiet and relaxed.
The villa is perfectly located - in the countryside, with no distraction, but only 15-20 mins drive away from two picturesque towns in the heart of Puglia. The rooms were spotless, well furnished, and spacious and the whole place could comfortably accommodate 14 people. From the moment we arrived, you could tell the owners had put a lot of thought into making the villa as comfortable as possible - complimentary wine and bread, bottles of water to save us going to the supermarket on our first night, and lots of books (including their own on Puglia). The swimming pool was exceptional - a beautifully-lit, large infinity pool that couldn't have been any better,
My family (15 persons from 3 to 83), and I stayed in Trullove for one week in October.
As soon as we arrived, we felt like at home thanks to Zora.
Enough space and privacy for everyone. An amazing swimming pool, a full equiped kitchen, surrounded of olive trees ... space, nature, freedom, nothing was missing ...
A definitly recommended address for big group/family
We stayed for a week with 4 adults and 6 kids and had an amazing time. There was lots of exploring on foot for the kids - even go to see the grapes being harvested next door. The pool is absolutely beautiful - in pristine shape. Another highlight (for the kids especially) is the rooftop where they spent hours climbing and playing.
Very comfortable interior design and a highly functional kitchen. Fast wifi. The house manager arranged for a chef to cook our anniversary dinner which was lovely. Also a nice vegetable and spice garden we availed ourselves of. Otherwise we had fantastic meals everywhere we went. Martina Franca is both a destination in itself and a nice nearby town to enjoy restaurants/cafes/walks and take care of errands.
We will definitely be back to Puglia.
I planned a three week holiday with my friends and the last week was at this magnificant villa in Puglia. The swimming pool provided fantastic entertainment for all, both young and old. The heat provided the perfect excuse to stay in the pool untill midnight on one or two occasions. We were a party of 13 with 6 kids and had more than enough space to have some privacy when needed. The villa is located very close to Martina Franca and perfectly situated close to many of the most amazing towns. August was the perfect time to go as there were festivals in Lecce, Ostuni and Alberobella. The vibe in each of these towns with lights and live music was amazing and only a short drive from the villa. For the keen beach goers it was an easy drive to spend some days on the beach before we headed out to the towns at night. The large pool and big table under the shade provided a perfect setting for those days we decided to linger at the villa.
I celebrated my 40th birthday just before arriving and having mentioned this to Lu (owner) who promptly surprised me with proseco and birthday cake. What an amazing special thing to do.
We will definitly go back!!
