About Morris Paton
I worked as an actor for many years and as a radio broadcaster on the BBC, presenting arts programmes. I'm also very interested in cultural tourism projects and in 1996 created The Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour, an award winning tour performed by professional actors. It runs throughout the year and Rick Steves, presenter of travel programmes USA wide, is quoted as saying in a recent review, "for an entertaining insight into the greats of Scottish literature, served up with new friends, good beer, and lots of laughs, The Edinburgh Literary Pub Tour is my vote for the best way to spend an Edinburgh Evening!" so can't be bad!! Let me know if your interested in going on the tour at check-in and I can reserve you a slot.
Morris Paton purchased this Apartment in 2003
Why Morris Paton chose New Town
I'm interested in all things literary and so when this apartment came on the market in 2001, I was excited by the fact that it sits just across the road from Sir Walter Scot's Edinburgh townhouse and on the other side of the street from the birth place of "Wind in the Willow's" author, Kenneth Grahame. of course, that's not forgetting that the apartment has unprecedented, stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and is in an excellent, central location for shopping, restaurants and culture - especially during The International Edinburgh Festival!
What makes this Apartment unique
Very central location in Edinburgh's New Town and highly fashionable George Street. Surrounded by great shops, Harvey Nicks etc and superb restaurants. Stone's through from major cultural and festival attractions such as The Assembly Rooms, the site of The Edinburgh Book Festival, Princes Street Gardens. Extremely well appointed for amazing views of the annual fireworks display from the castle at both the end of the festival and at new year.

We absolutely loved this property. It is dead center near everything. Everything is within walking distance.
The whole facility was beautifully maintained with all the amenities. There is a large sitting area that made socializing very easy and comfortable. The kitchen was well appointed and large, as was the single bathroom.
The only two drawbacks we experiences was the very small second bedroom (barely big enough for two adults with absolutely no space other than for the two single beds pushed together), and the noise. Since the weather was very warm whilst we were there it required that the windows be open at night. There is a lot of after hours street life that happens near here. But if you're not participating in the street life it will be loud with windows open. (When windows are closed there is very little noise at all).
Overall, we greatly enjoyed our stay and would recommend highly to the right sized group.
Thanks Lonnie, alas the sounds of city centre living! The bedrooms both have acoustic glazing to shut out the noise, as you rightly noted. Open windows in any city centre apartment will obviously come with the requisite amount of street noise, but the incredibly central location, convenient for all major visitor attractions, hopefully more than compensates for this.
The second bedroom is very much a single room with a full sized, new comfortable bed, it also has a matching "trundle bed", which is very convenient for families with kids or adult couples who don't mind bunking down. Fortunately the shared living spaces; lounge, bathroom and kitchen are generously proportioned and so this room is very much only for sleeping.
We hope to welcome you back in the future and thank you for being such a flexible guest, willing to change apartment at the last minute.
Went for Hogmany and had a fabulous holiday.
Large flat, cozy and comfortable, well equipped kitchen, washer AND dryer, heated bathroom floor, steam shower, incredible location and terrific castle views. It was a perfect flat if you want to be in the city center and a short walk to everything. Easy to find the flat and access the keys upon arrival. All around a terrific holiday flat for a short weekend or the 8 days we stayed.
The apartment is the perfect location for anyone seeking a comfortable home base from which to explore Edinburgh. The holiday markets, wonderful restaurants, and major sights were at our doorstep. The kitchen is great, and the water pressure is the BEST I've experienced anywhere in Scotland. The apartment is also extremely quiet - the double glazing in the bedrooms blocked all street noise.
I can't express how amazing this flat is. It is in the perfect location and has all of the local charm. It enhanced our trip immensely! I was so sad to leave, but will definitely be back and will stay here! It is incredible an located near so many local restaurants and shops! I will always cherish the memories made here and waking up with views of the castle! :)
Gorgeous apartment in the perfect location.
