About Louisa

My husband I live in England with our daughters Sofia-Clara and Katie. We love Italy and enjoy spending time there. It isn't always easy because of work commitments but when we can our first stop is Villa Sofia. Being in Italy allows us time to spend as a family. Laughing, playing with our daughters and just having fun together. We have many friends in Faicchio and spending time with them is important to us. We love to entertain and are just as happy to sit and relax in the beautiful surroundings of our home. Italy has a special place in all our hearts and we couldn't imagine being without it.

We love the sound of the birds, hearing the wind through the trees and generally relaxing at Casa Sofia. Our only complaint is that we cant spend more time there. We genuinely love it.

Louisa purchased this villa in 2010

Why Louisa chose Benevento

We have always wanted to buy a property in Faicchio. It is close to our family and friends. When we drove up the private drive towards Villa Sofia we were just taken with its location. The house itself needed a major overhaul but we had imagination.

It is just so peaceful staying at the house. It is quite, private and a wonderful place to stay. Faicchio has everything we could want. Supermarkets, bars, restaurants and the knowledge of knowing that Sofia-Clara and Katie are safe to play outside and enjoy nature.

We can also pop into Naples, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast to enjoy the most beautiful tourist sites Italy has to offer. 2.5 hours away is Rome. So easy to get to and visit. For us it is an ideal location because it has everything. Authentic Italy and famous sites to visit.

What makes this villa unique

What we lovely so much about Villa Sofia is its location. It is so private and peaceful we cant really put it into words. It has to be experienced. Waking up in the morning to the sound of birds is just so special. We love the fact that whilst it is off the beaten track we can still visit tourist sites easily. On top of that faicchio offers so much. Shops, bars, restaurants all selling local produce. When we say local produce we mean it. It is a very good price and excellent quality.

When we want to go out and eat we have a lovely choice of two restaurants close by. Il Sauro restaurant with the most fantastic views of the monastery and Faicchio. It is set in vineyards and the food is wonderful. We recently had a meal there, two starters, four pizzas and wine for 37 euros. So cheap but wonderful. Such a relaxing place to enjoy a meal. La Luccila is lovely. The food is good and again resonably priced. If you are travelling with children you will find a small park area there for them to play.

The villa itself is well equipped. Because when we visit I like to have everything around me especially in the kitchen. I have equipped Villa Sofia as if I was staying there all year round. It is our home and we offer the convenience of that to our guests. I want to make sure our guests enjoy their stay at our villa and I am more than happy to answer any questions and be as accommodating as I can. Please enjoy your time at Villa Sofia and all comments are welcomed.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As we ask all our guests to independently review our property we have decided to use this section to say thank you to all our guests for their lovely comments. In the villa we have a comments book and we are always touched by the lovely things people say about our villa. We are so pleased that the majority of people feel that it is a home from home and so well equipped. They always say they feel privledged to be allowed to stay but it is us, the owners, who are privledged. We are lucky to have guests that enjoy and take care of our villa as we would. So thank you very much for looking after our home and enjoying its wonderful personality and surroundings. We hope to see you all again soon.

Villa Sofia is thoughtfully and well equipped with everything you might need in a home from home - and more. It's clean and comfortable in a delightful and peaceful rural setting with Nightingales singing their hearts out, Hoopoes passing through the garden and many other birds to enjoy. Thank you Louisa, we loved it

Little gem!! Amazing tranquil family holiday

  • 5 of 5

Clean, tidy, spacious, well equipped villa for an amazing family holiday. All the mod con's and deluxe family bathrooms. Wifi and TV was an added bonus but just enjoying a swim in the pool, relax in the hammock and breakfast on the patio. My husband enjoyed cooking on the BBQ while the children were playing on the swings. Lovely local walks to the restaurant and the village had everything you needed. Helpful and polite too. We loved seeing all the sights around which weren't too far away. Thank you Louisa for all your guided help and tips!!

Lovely villa in beautiful Italian countryside

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely holiday we had. Really well equipped villa - had everything we needed including their own olive oil! It was really clean and the pool was great to have. It was so nice to be in "real Italy" - we rarely saw other tourists except attractions such as Pompeii. The owner Louisa could not have been more helpful and was genuinely happy that we enjoyed our holiday. Nearby places we visited include Pompeii, the Palace at Caserta which was beautiful and the town of Benevento. Il Sauropod restaurant is a five minute walk up the road and was so good we went there twice. All in all a lovely holiday and I would love to go back!

A home from home!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this property several times and were really looking forward to seeing the changes that have been made. Didn't think you could improve on perfect!! This house has now had an extra en-suite bedroom added to it in addition to some improvements to the outside space (an over-ground pool and some swings). We have always enjoyed the 'homely' feel to this accommodation and this has been further enhanced by the recent changes. Would be perfect for a family with young children or 2 couples. Can't wait to return!

Very Helpful Owners

  • 4 of 5

We got a lot of help and advice from Louisa, the owner, and the availability of the sat nav and other items in the villa made our holiday so much more relaxing.

The villa was very clean, towels and toilet roll included, some basic food items and detergents were available to use on the understanding any used up items are replaced.

The villa is a little off the road and not overlooked by neighboring properties giving a it a peaceful and relaxing feel.

There are two restaurants within a 5 minute walk, we went to Il Sauro, and found the food and service great, particularly as we required a gluten free meal, in Italy this is no problem at all, gluten free food is widely available in shops and restaurants.

We would highly recommend this property, although it is some distance from major attractions, but the countryside and nearby mountains are beautiful.

The downside, beware of midges and Italian drivers!
