'Le Domaine de Gavaudun' is a splendid **** resort with 35ha (87 acres) of undulating fields and woods. A calm green oasis perfectly situated in the south of historic Perigord (Dordogne), the region of a thousand Châteaux, near Quercy, Gascony and Guyenne. Its old charming renovated buildings and its modern accommodations in the middle of nature, together with the many activities available, will make for a memorable stay. Gavaudun is a small typical medieval village, dominated by its 11th century castle with a remarkable tower. It is nestled between the valleys of the Lot and the Dordogne rivers and is close to the majestic chateaux of Biron and Bonaguil as well as the bastides of Monflanquin and Monpazier. Sarlat, Rocamadour, Saint Emilion, Les Eyzies, Cahors, Moissac, Nerac and many exceptional prehistoric sites are awaiting your visit. Perigord is also very renowned for its fine cuisine: duck, truffles, crepe mushrooms, foie gras, with wine from Bergerac, Monbazillac, Cahors.
The owners Eric and Michèle will be most happy to welcome you personally and give you detailed information over their beautiful area.
Eric Schlosser purchased this house in 1995
We are Belgians. We came on vacation for 10 years in the area and fell in love with it. It is truly one of the most beautiful and interesting areas in France. When we add the mild weather and good food, this is one of the best places where to live. We were lucky to find this exceptional property for sale and jumped on the opportunity. Since then, we have been improving and developing it every year.
Our property is very well located to visit the surrounding area: Perigord (Dordogne), Quercy (Lot), Guyenne (Lot et Garonne). You could easily spend 3 weeks visiting interesting spots within a 50 miles radius, from prehistoric caves to medieval villages and castles, or vineyards for instance. You do need a car of course, but you can fly Ryanair to Bergerac (45 min from our place) and rent a car there. We will be more than happy to give you a lot of explanations once you are here ...
