About Judith Rutherford

My name is Judith and I live near Winchester with my Husband and 2 young children.

Why Judith Rutherford chose Wales

I had my first holiday in Marloes at the age of 6 months and have so many happy memories of wonderful family hoildays there ever since.

We are now enjoying creating those same experiences for our young family.

Owning Kilhay is our dream and we hope to one day be able to be there permanently. In the meanwhile, we spend as much time there as we can and hope that others will also enjoy the magic the Pembrokeshire coast can offer.

Guestbook comments from the owner

'Thank you so much for letting us enjoy your lovely holiday home. We had a wonderful few days and packed a lot of sightseeing into a short time. The real bonus was seeing the seals and pups! Many thanks.'

'Thought Kilhay was fantastic for children and was very pleased to see all the toys and books left there. Also liked the fact that the back garden was very secure with the side gates.'

Notes on accommodation: The property layout gives flexible accommodation. It works very well with 2 families or a family of 4 travelling with grandparents (how we often use it ourselves!). Bedroom 4 is also ideal for younger children as is the secluded, gated garden area. Bedroom 1 is very spacious and works well as a family room with cot available. The property is no smoking and, sorry, but no pets. Outside: There is ample parking at the front of the property for 3 cars. At the rear there is an enclosed, south facing garden backing onto open farmland and retaining the traditional Pembrokeshire banked hedge. There is also a patio area with table and chairs. Utility Room: Utility - second fridge with small freezer compartment, washing machine, sink area. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and bedlinen are included (not beach towels). Linen changed weekly.

Peace and quiet in a spacious retreat

  • 5 of 5

Kilhay is a wonderful cottage, comfortable, clean and very well equipped. My husband and I like our space and we certainly were not disappointed!

The highlight for me was being able to sit at the kitchen table with the patio doors open, watching loads of birds squabble at the bird feeders while completing one of the excellent puzzles provided. We also saw bats and a fox in the garden almost every day at dusk.

We visited various places locally and slightly further afield - Skomer island was definitely the highlight, but Marloes Sands, Musslewick Sands and Broad Haven were all lovely too. The one downside of Marloes village is that the pub doesn't have a great atmosphere so was not somewhere to settle down for an evening - having said that we did eat there once and the food was fine.

I will definitely be booking another stay at Kilhay as soon as I can and recommend it to all.

Pleasant cottage in quiet community well located near the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights here while walking stretches of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path which is just .5 mile from Marloes. The house is comfortable, quiet, and has all of the amenities to make this a good landing point for walkers. There is a very small store in Marloes but to do any significant shopping is a 20 minute drive. So for most visitors a car is essential. We enjoyed the pub down the street but most everything we did involved driving to get there (Dale, Solva, etc.).

Beautiful spot, and a very comfortable and welcoming house to return to for relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

Flexible sleeping arrangements suited our extended family group perfectly. Very well equipped and generous, with lots of personal touches, which helped us to relax thoroughly. Clifftop walks, seal spotting, swimming and star gazing from the pitch black night garden. Thank you Judith for a warm welcome and responding promptly to our enquiries. Complete satisfaction!

Nice Family Holiday

  • 4 of 5

Had a really nice week Holiday at Kilhay in Marloes. This is the perfect place to go if you want a quiet, relaxed holiday close

to a fantastic beach. As a family with 2 young children, the house had everything we needed. When the sun was shining, the garden was

a great place for the kids to run around, but when the weather turned, there was plenty of games provided to keep the kids entertained.

The house was clean and tidy with plenty of house hold equipment provided for all domestic needs. My only constructive criticism is that maybe

at some point the bathrooms could be updated as they're a bit tired looking, but that is very minor.

Marloes itself is a lovely, quite little place. The local pub has a great enclosed back garden, plus the food there is really good. Marloe sands is a superb beach to go to, plus there are plenty of other really nice beaches all around the area.

Overall, we had a great week staying in Marloes and this was made easier due to the prompt and easy contact with the owner Judith. We'd all

definitely go back again.....

Perfect late summer break.

  • 5 of 5

Very comfortable spacious and well equipped house in a quiet village in a beautiful part of the country. Convenient shop and pub serving good meals, with everyone being most welcoming. Stunning scenery and walking all close at hand, plenty to see and do with a lovely garden and patio area to come back to at base. We all enjoyed a relaxing and rejuvenating weeks stay. Highly recommended.

Musslewick and Marloes Sands are less than a mile away and, Dale and West Dale just a few minutes in the car.

Our website (see link below) has more details of a selection of our favorite ones but there are many more to explore!
