About Justin and Kate

Kate and Justin bought this property 20 years ago in a very dilapidated state and have been making improvements ever since culminating in the recent conversion of our barn. During the summer we live in the farmhouse and are on hand to offer any assistance you may need. We are very discreet and you don't have to see us if you don't want to!

Our neighbours (all French) have always been interested in our renovations. They are very aware of the beauty of their surroundings and are supportive of our efforts to preserve this while carrying out improvements.

Justin and Kate purchased this barn in 1991

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Captivated by the scenery and tranquillity around us – a difficult place to leave, seriously considered becoming squatters. Wonderful weather.” Liz and David

“I’m an 'expert' on scenery and great views – you’ve got ‘em a’plenty. The local bastides are breathtaking….. .Take lots of photos ‘cos your friends won’t believe you when you try and tell them what it looked like. Go for the Gaillac Rose – it’s great!!” Robin and Pippa

“A perfect way to unwind and relax. Wonderful scenery, friendly people, unexpected treasures in every village. Try conoeing in St Antonin followed by lunch at Carre des Gourmets and the market on Sunday.”

Absolutely Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with a friend in early September. The weather was wonderful every day but one, when we stayed in the barn playing silly games and watching the clouds hover over the valley - very beautiful.

The owners, Kate and Justin, were staying in the 'big house' while we were there, though we were hardly aware of them, and had to search them out to invite them over for a drink when they answered all our questions with patience and humour - they are really nice! We spent a lot of time by the pool which has fantastic views. Local walks are lovely and we ate out a few times in some fabulous restaurants, though mostly we made use of the very well equipped kitchen. There is a great market on Sunday mornings in St Antonin - about 20 mins away by car, and the castles at Bruniquel, which is also nearby, make an easy, enjoyable excursion. A very relaxing holiday and I'm definitely going back again!

Breathtaking

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing holiday and wished we could have stayed longer. A beautiful house with everything you could possibly need and views to die for over the Aveyron Gorge. The property is surrounded by amazing scenery, historic medieval villages and towns, daily markets, kayaking, river swimming and beautiful walks. The owners are lovely and bent over backwards to help us. Would definitely go back.....,,

Relaxing holiday

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place if you want to get away from it all and find some peace and quiet. We loved the beautiful pool area, with spectacular views across the valley; it is perfect for relaxing during the day and eventually watching the sunset in the evening.

When feeling more energetic, we enjoyed a family day out canoeing on the river Aveyron. In addition, to the local villages and places of historical interest, the city of Albi is well worth a visit, with its magnificent cathedral, museums, shops and restaurants.

The accommodation is light and airy, comfortable, clean and well equipped; also with wonderful views.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week at the Barn. The views were wondeful, the swimming pool got sun all day and was well-maintained, and there was more than enough to do in the surrounding area, despite being a bit "off the beaten path." The kitchen was the best we've had in all our years of renting houses. We love to cook, so this was of particular importance for us! The furniture was comfortable and everything was clean and well-taken care of.

We were fortunate enough to have Justin & Kate there while we were staying there, and we couldn't have asked for better hosts. They are simply a lovely couple.

Highly recommended!
