About Mary Bentley
My husband, children and I moved to this area from London 14 years ago. Herrieff's Cottage is an old coach house which was part of Herrieff's Farm. The farm is no longer a working farm but we live at the farmhouse which is located on the other side of the gate. We pride ourselves on offering personal service to all our guests and are always nearby to offer help or assistance, if needed! We look forward to welcoming you to Herrieff's Cottage and please contact us if you have any queries.
Mary Bentley purchased this Cottage in 2001
Why Mary Bentley chose Cherwell
We moved here from London primarily because our eldest child was due to start school and the time to move would never be easy after that. This is a great location with ease of access to the M40 which gets us to London in an hour and connects us with friends and family all over the country. We enjoy the peace and quiet of village life. We are surrounded by public footpaths and can walk for miles with the children and the dogs!

Comfy cottage - great location!!
Loved our 6 night stay in the cute village of North Newington. Mary & Justin were super hosts - very welcoming and friendly. We saw everything we had planned- woburn abbey - althorp - seizencote - snowshill manor - broughton castle - and walks in the Cotswolds and along the canal path. If we ever pass this way again would definitely stay again.
Charm in the Countryside, Close to Many Attractions
This is a 3 level converted barn that oozes charm and accommodation. In our 3 days there we easily visited Stratford-upon -Avon (by car), Oxford by frequent train, and Blenheim Palace with a good taste of the Cotswolds. Well equipped with great internet connections despite its country setting. The only difficulty was finding it initially. The Vrbo only said “Main Street” and a picture. For reference, it is labeled “Harrieffs Cottage”, and is directly across the road from the only commercial establishment, The Blinking Owl pub.
Very nice and spacious cottage located in quiet village.
We had a three night stay with our dog Jess and found the cottage very comfortable and much more spacious than we anticipated. We found some nice walks from the door so did not need to use the car during our stay.
We found the village pub,'The Blinking Owl' was very convenient and friendly, and we had a nice meal there one evening.
Excellent cottage in a delightful village
This is an excellent cottage with three large well equiped rooms in a small village. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Access to the Cotswolds and Blenheim Palace. An excellent friendly pub in the lovely nearby village of Shutford - it's worth a walk around Shutford. We loved it.
