About Rachel Halley

The cottage owner is Rachel Halley, I grew up in Sheffield and spent a lot of my childhood exploring this beautiful part of the UK. I am passionate about the area, the village and I take great pride in being very hands on with the management of the cottage. I have an ongoing programme of improvements which the regular visitors love as there are always new touches whenever they return.

I look forward to welcoming you to Tweedledee Cottage.

Rachel Halley purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Rachel Halley chose Derbyshire Dales

We just love the area, the countryside is so beautiful, the people are so friendly and there is so much to see and do or our guests just relax and unwind. We use the cottage as an escape from the hustle and bustle of London life. Having spent many years renting other peoples cottages we have learnt that home comforts are essential for a relaxing holiday. We have filled the cottage with many luxury items that we think you will love and we look forward to sharing our cottage with you.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is conveniently located in the heart of the village within easy strolling distance of the 3 pubs. We encourage our guests to shop locally as much as possible; there is a Post Office in the village which doubles up as a village store and sells all the essentials including alcohol. There is also an excellent cake / pie shop.

Fabulous Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Tweedle Dum cottage a couple of months ago and wanted to return but it was already booked so we chose Tweedle Dee Cottage next door which we loved just as much as Tweedle Dum.

Although the weather was warm we lit the woodburner in the evenings which made the sitting room extra cosy. The 4 poster bed is amazing and so comfortable.

We would recommend Chatsworth which is beautiful and we also took a trip to Castleton to visit Speedwell Cavern which was such fun - we legged a boat through an underground river tunnel. Amazing.

We have 2 of your lovely cottages still to try out, Thimble and Dawson's. We took a peak through the window at Thimble and it looks lovely. Maybe next time.

Thank you Rachel for another lovely weekend break. We will be telling all our friends about your cottages.

Fabulous Cottage in a Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We've been staying at Tweedle Dee Cottage for over 10 years now and have got to know the owners very well.

The reason we keep returning ? Where do I start ........... well, there's the fabulous 4 poster bed which not only looks amazing but is very comfortable as well and the woodburner which Rachel recently installed (we had been nagging her for years as it was the only thing that we felt was missing).

We also love the location of the cottage which is within walking distance of the 3 pubs, our favourite is the Farmyard Inn. The walks around the area are amazing and we always do the long walk to The Bulls Head at Monyash.

Our only criticism now that the woodburner is in is that Rachel won't sell the cottage to us, we'll keep asking though !!.

Thanks Rachel for your ongoing hard work, it really shows and we'll be in touch again soon to book our next stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Rob, Thank you for taking the time to write your review. It was great to see you again last month. Ha ha you did nag me but you were right about the woodburner, it's proving to be very popular with our guests. Don't worry, you're top of my list if we do ever decide to sell the cottage. Looking forward to seeing you again soon and thank you very much for your continued support of Tweedle Dee Cottage which we greatly appreciate. Best wishes, Rachel

Highly Recommended

  • 5 of 5

We've been staying at Rachel's cottages in Debyshire for over 10 years now and have just returned from another relaxing stay atTweedle Dee. Cottage. Every time we visit there a new surprise(s) and we've loved everything that Rachel has done so far to improve the cottages. The removal of the render to the front of Tweedledee and Tweedledum cottages has really improved the front of the cottages. We also love the addition of the woodburner at Tweedledee which is great for cozy evenings in.

The cottages are conveniently located within walking distance of the 3 village pubs - our favourite is The Farmyard Inn. We are looking forward to the reopening of one of the local village stores which looks like it will be soon.

We'd also recommend visiting Chatsworth and Haddon Hall which are nearby.

Thank you for another lovely break we are only worried that by writing this review the cottages might become too popular for us to stay.

Owner's Response: Hi Jonathan, Thank you very much for firstly taking the time to write the review and secondly for your continued support of our cottages which we greatly appreciate especially as you have been coming for so long. Being an architect we thought that you would notice and appreciate the removal of the render to the front of Dee and Dum. I remember discussing this with you some time back. We're so pleased that we bit the bullet and did the works. We look forward to welcoming you back to our cottages and thank you one again for choosing to return to our cottages. Kind Regards, Rachel

Beautiful cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for a long weekend and it was perfect. Lovely village and the cottage was amazing, small but perfectly formed and full of character. The four-poster bed creaks a bit but was comfy and the bathroom is great. Brilliant location for nice walks in the hills and only a short drive to Bakewell. We'll be back :)
