Sun, sea and mountains in all their beauty
We, a family of 5, had a fantastic holiday at Killara Villa in Montenegro. The villa itself is first class with excellent facilities, effective air con and wi-fi. The grounds around the house are lovely and the small pool was a life saver on the hot cloudless days. We adored the Montenegran coastline and Kotor Bay is truly magical. We also loved heading into the mountains which were stunning. The town of Kotor itself is a must-see and historic Dubrovnik is not far away either. Our activities included biking, white water rafting, kayaking, boat trips and hill walks. Great fun. Jan, Nick and Raiko are incredibly helpful and attentive to all your needs!
Wow, It sounds your holiday was a great success and Villa Killara lived up to your expectations. Maybe we can shaw you some more of Montenegro next year?! We'll look forward to that.
Peaceful, secluded haven
The white villa set among the pine trees has provided a secluded and peaceful haven for our group of 4. The spacious, well equipped, clean and versatile accommodation has worked particularly well for us, as we have our 17 and 21 year old daughters with us.
The location of Villa Killara has enabled us to visit and explore much of the Bay of Kotor.. We would recommend a day's boat trip that takes in the Blue Grotto, Mamula, lunch at Rose and swimming in the warm, clear sea. We also fell in love with Perast. Our highlight was perhaps the weekend visit to the Durmitor National Park, organised for us by the extremely helpful owner, Jan. We went rafting along the Tara river, did a jeep safari up to the top of the mountaind and the girls took on the challenge of Europe's biggest zip wire over the canyon. It also provided an opportunity to eat typical montenegrin food- delicious!
We would like to thank Rajko, the 'house manager' for being quietly 'there' for us, and to Jan, who although was not in the country at the time of our stay, was still able to make recommendations and 'manage' our visit so well.
Thank you, Julia, for the Review. Also, thank you for the post holiday coffee in the UK- it was a real pleasure meeting you.
We are so glad your holiday was a success and if we (our team) contributed towards it, all the better. Villa Killara awaits your next holiday!
Beautiful and peaceful week at Villa Killara, which is up in the hills above Herceg Nova. Killara is a clean, private, and spacious villa within it's own grounds with all the facilities we needed. The jacuzzi and pool were a treat, as was the star-gazing at night. Jan and Rajko were on-hand if we needed anything. As a family of four, we all just loved our stay. Montenegro is a beautiful country, if you can make it to the Tara Canyon we'd recommend it - stunning scenery and pristine river for kayaking and rafting. Thanks Jan!
Thank you for coming to stay at Villa Killara. We are really happy you took our advice and visited the Durmitor National Park, where you also enjoyed the white water rafting on river Tara. There is much more to see, so please, do come again.
Lovely peaceful stay
Wonderful villa with pool. Very peaceful great place to relax. Swim, sunbathe , sightseeing, swim then sunbathe what a way to spend a holiday 😎😎 Very clean and lots of areas to sit outside. Jan and Rajko were so helpful nothing was too much trouble 😀 Will hopefully visit again.
Thank you for choosing Villa Killara for you 2017 holiday. I am glad you enjoyed the facilities the villa offered. Please do come again, you would be very welcome. It was great meeting you!
Great & relaxing holiday
We had an amazing holiday! Apartment was comfortable, "personal" and clean containing all necessary equipment. Most time was spent at the large terrace where we had our breakfast & bbq dinners with wine and where kids played. Close to the sea, short bus ride to Herceg Novi or alternatively a long beautiful walk on a sea bank. Fantastic and inexpensive food in restaurants. Cheap tours as there is so much to see in Montenegro and Kotor Bay. Absolutely fell in love with it all! Lovely, friendly and helpful host who was always available to give us advice or offer help. Would love to go back!
Thank you for your Review. Unfortunately, you have reviewed the wrong property. You stayed in Josephine apartment, not Villa Killara.
Villa Killara was a dream home for our stay.
Definitely need a car, a gorgeous 5km drive upwards into the mountains with fruit-stall at bottom of hill where we stocked up on figs, delicious peaches and fountain-watered melons every time we drove by.
The house is reached through a lovely pathway lined with Italian cypresses. The grounds are gorgeous and surrounded by tall mountain peaks, bright blue skies and the oasis of turquoise blue 5m pool is inviting us to cool down every time we arrive from one of our daily journeys. There is a star-gazing rooftop terrace and on the terrace below there is a lovely big dining table where we ate our meals. The house itself if very modernly set up with all comforts thought of, even enough basics to start us off like coffee, condiments etc. All technicalities like Wifi and air-conditioning etc in full working order. Plenty of space and room. Were able to follow some of the Olympics with the telly. Comfortable beds, super clean, I can't think of a single thing to complain about in the house.
The owner as well as the manager provided great customer service and I would definitely recommend this place to family or friends.
I thought I would not like lack of sandy beaches but instead we developed a love of the Montenegro and Croatian coast with its super clean soft stoned beaches. We discovered a magical secret beach near Popovici half an hour drive away worth the search... Pasjacha. For crossing the border we had to queue a bit so we discovered and preferred the border via the smaller road that follows the coastal road from Igalo via Njivice to Popovic. We were also so close to Dubrovnik from our villa. We had lots of choices of beach clubs with all kinds of watersports: waterskiing, jet skis, scuba diving (Adriatic Blue in People's Beach Bar in Herceg Novi - only 15 minutes from the villa), great service, friendly people everywhere etc.
We also did a 3 hour quad bike safari just over the Croatian border, at Kojan Koral (they do horse riding too). And a must in Montenegro, which after all, is a country of mountains, is the rafting excursion down the rapids through the Tara Canyon, second biggest after Colorado! We drove through the amazing nature of lake-filled valleys to the Waterfall Centre and stayed the night in a cabin in the woods with great food prepared around a campfire followed by a day of most magnificent rafting journey including swims in the river and waterfalls etc.
What can I say: one of best holidays ever. Thanks Jan!
Wow, that was some holiday! Thank you for sharing your experiences and do come again for more.
