About Iain and Judith
We live in Perthshire in Scotland. We fell for this part of Italy many years ago and purchased this lovely house as a family holiday home 12 years ago before embarking on a restoration programme with a local geometra known to us through a mutual friend. We have had many great times in Casa Wales with our 3 children, family and friends. We love it very much.
Iain and Judith purchased this House in 2008
Why Iain and Judith chose Gualdo
The area is very beautiful, peaceful and populated by lovely people. It is endlessly interesting, but never overrun by tourists, even in high summer. There are many restaurants to choose from, and an abundance of beautifully preserved hill top villages and small towns. The area is great for walkers and we particularly love the gorge walks in high summer, though there are many high peak options too. There is information in the house on walks and on many local attractions.
What makes this House unique
The house benefits from being very accessible, whilst is secluded without being remote. There are quite likely to be memorable wildlife encounters during a stay at the house with deer, boar, porcupines, buzzards, lizards, fire flies and many other animals in the vicinity. The village, which benefits from an excellent restaurant/pizzaria, two bars and a good range of shops, is about 2 kms away, and is walkable along tarmac (uphill on the way there) or via the 'white' road that cuts through the fields.

Classic Italian Villa in Marche
Had a lovely 3 week stay at Casa Wales! Well equipped, recent construction, 4 ensuite bedroom villa with an additional ensuite guest house. Despite the wettest, coolest May in 50 years, 4 couples had a marvelous time. Thank you Iain and Judith!
Hope to come back next year.
Lovely house in a favourite part of the world. Owners are very helpful and great communication. Highly recommended.
A lovely spacious house, perfect for two families sharing
Beautiful location and views, fabulous pool and outdoor spaces, huge kitchen, living and bedroom spaces, lots of bathrooms. 👍
Many thanks! We're pleased you liked our home and its location so much.
Beautiful house quiet rural position
Down a long winding lane in stunning rural landscape lies Casa Wales . Absolute peace and quiet except for birds and bees , lovely pool. Well equipped, spotless house.
How to relax
Our stay was blissful. If wanting to get away & chill, then this is the place to stay. Beautiful scenery, dips in the pool, twilight meals outdoors watching the fire flies dart about. The area has numerous quaint hill towns to visit. It was a wrench to leave.
Many thanks for this great review. We are very pleased that you had a lovely relaxing holiday.
Fantastic holiday in a wonderful part of the world
Driving towards the property you start to get a better idea of the type of area that La Marche is, beautiful countryside, Idyllic little towns & a laid back feel to the place.
I stayed at Casa Wales with my wife & child along with other members of my wider family, we had a truly wonderful week, the Villa first and foremost is beautiful, very traditional and very well looked after with some lovely extras and little touches, set on lovely grounds overlooking the stunning valleys, you could quite easily spend your whole week at the property and get everything you need from a relaxed holiday, the pool is perfectly situated and also has great views. The Villa is very spacious, great size rooms, at no time do you feel like you are on top of each other and we were sharing with 8 adults and a very mobile 15 month old :-)
There is lots to do in the surrounding area, lovely traditional towns to visit at a stones throw, Gualdo & Sarnano to name but a few. The locals are all extremely friendly and absolutely love children. going up into the mountains and heading to Lake Fiastra was a fantastic experience, heading past the Ski resort of Sassetto & Bolognola provided wonderful views, heading through the mountains to the lake was spectacular, views that need to be seen to be believed!!
Overall I found the Villa, the area & the people fantastic, I will definitely be back, I am eager to show family and friends this beautiful part of the world.
