About Iain; Judith
We live in beautiful Perthshire in Scotland. We fell for this part of Italy many years ago and purchased this lovely house as a family holiday home 6 years ago before embarking on a restoration programme with a local geometra known to us through a mutual friend. We have had many great times in Casa Wales with our 3 children, family and friends. We love it very much.
Iain; Judith purchased this Farmhouse in 2008
Why Iain; Judith chose Gualdo
The area is very beautiful, peaceful and populated by great people. It is endlessly interesting, but never overrun by tourists, even in high summer. There are many restaurants to choose from, and an abundance of beautifully preserved hill top villages and small towns. The area is great for walkers and we particularly love the gorge walks in high summer, though there are many high peak options too. There is information in the house on these walks and on many local attractions.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
The house benefits from being very accessible, whilst is secluded without being remote. There are likely to be memorable wildlife encounters during a stay at the house with deer, boar, porcupines, buzzards, lizards, fire flies and many other animals in the vicinity. The village, which benefits from a very good value restaurant, two bars and a good range of shops, is about 2 kms away, and is walkable along tarmac (uphill on the way there) or via the 'white' road that cuts through the fields.

How to relax
Our stay was blissful. If wanting to get away & chill, then this is the place to stay. Beautiful scenery, dips in the pool, twilight meals outdoors watching the fire flies dart about. The area has numerous quaint hill towns to visit. It was a wrench to leave.
Fantastic holiday in a wonderful part of the world
Driving towards the property you start to get a better idea of the type of area that La Marche is, beautiful countryside, Idyllic little towns & a laid back feel to the place.
I stayed at Casa Wales with my wife & child along with other members of my wider family, we had a truly wonderful week, the Villa first and foremost is beautiful, very traditional and very well looked after with some lovely extras and little touches, set on lovely grounds overlooking the stunning valleys, you could quite easily spend your whole week at the property and get everything you need from a relaxed holiday, the pool is perfectly situated and also has great views. The Villa is very spacious, great size rooms, at no time do you feel like you are on top of each other and we were sharing with 8 adults and a very mobile 15 month old :-)
There is lots to do in the surrounding area, lovely traditional towns to visit at a stones throw, Gualdo & Sarnano to name but a few. The locals are all extremely friendly and absolutely love children. going up into the mountains and heading to Lake Fiastra was a fantastic experience, heading past the Ski resort of Sassetto & Bolognola provided wonderful views, heading through the mountains to the lake was spectacular, views that need to be seen to be believed!!
Overall I found the Villa, the area & the people fantastic, I will definitely be back, I am eager to show family and friends this beautiful part of the world.
Stunning villa in the beautiful Sibillini. Perfect for families
Casa Wales is the most outstanding property. A quiet setting yet accessible to the surrounding hill top towns. The villa is equipped to the highest standard, but maintains a lovely relaxed air that allows everyone to enjoy the space. The pool is located in a gorgeous position and is perfect for family games or quiet enjoyment. The portico dining area is a joy for large family meals.
We have stayed in lots of villas in this area and Casa Wales is by far the best. This is our second stay, we'll be back again.
A property that provides everything anyone could need for a wonderful family holiday.
Three generations of our family spent a perfect half-term week in this idyllic property. The accommodation is spacious, comfortable and furnished to a very high standard. The grounds are lovely with the pool providing a perfect focus for fun and relaxation in the long sunny days. The surrounding area is beautiful with sandy beaches and pretty hilltop towns just a short drive away. The final magic was provided by the nightly firefly display.
Wonderful tranquil and spacious!
Judith and Iain's beautiful house and gardens are a glorious place to vacation! We were two families who found plenty of light-filled space in the house (and guesthouse!) and lots of fun on the terrace, in the pool, and on the grounds. The setting could not be more peaceful and charming. A short drive (or a hearty walk) up the hill takes you to beautiful Gualdo, and in just about any direction you will find yet another fabulous hill town with friendly inhabitants and go-to cafes and restaurants. Plus, for the kids, there's Fussball!
We loved being in Casa Wales, and recommend it most heartily!
Many thanks for this lovely review.
Amazing property in a stunning location
A superb property in a tranquil location. We enjoyed the most wonderful family holiday with family and friends. I know the area well and have stayed in a number of properties over the years. This is by far the best.
The casa is maintained to the highest standards and provides all the facilities you can wish for. The pool is perfect for all ages and the footy table and wi kept the younger members of the family very happy. The property is situated in a quiet location, but has convenient access to local hill towns and the Conero coast is 45 mins away. Five stars simply isn't enough. Thank you, we'll be back.
