The villa is on the outskirts of Pézenas within a pleasant 15 min walk to the town which bustles with life; cafes, restaurants, many artists and craftsmen, a year round Saturday market and many memories of Molière. There are frequent attractions during the year including concerts, exhibitions, open air theatre, street parties, and late night shopping during the season when the streets are alive until midnight. About Graham Barnard

Gill and Graham Barnard are retired and we spend as much time as possible in Pézenas with our children and grandchildren - ranging from 4 years to 21 and friends. The family love Pézenas (so much so that our eldest daughter and her husband have just bought a property close to Villa Toulouse)

Graham Barnard purchased this bungalow in 2001

Why Graham Barnard chose Pézenas

We love France and after much searching found this development in Pézenas. We love the town and the area. Access is good with choice of airports, but we often drive, taking advantage of the Millau bridge. and the toll free A75, and sometimes the train Eurostar/TGV which is very relaxing.

The area around Pézenas is very attractive, never ending vineyards, winding roads shaded by plane trees, the mountains and Regional park areas to the north, the meandering and enchanting Canal du Midi, and more medieval towns and villages than you could shake a stick at!

What makes this bungalow unique

We love the convenience of Villa Toulouse, its space and the high ceilings of the lounge and sitting room. Walking into town for a coffee is one of the family's main morning activities. However there are so many interesting places within reach of Pézenas that we are still exploring.

Villa Toulouse is about 20km from Marseillan Port, and Meze; 25km from Marseillan Plage, Cap d'Agde and Vias Plage. There is a 10km long sandy beach between Marseillan Plage and Sete.

Airport options include (with approx distance) - Béziers/Agde 27km, Montpellier 55km, Perpignan 110km, Nimes 110km, Toulouse 210km, Girona (Spain) 220km.

If driving from the UK, distances are (approx) - Calais or Dunkerque 1020km, Boulogne 990km, Bilbao (Spain) 640km or Santander (Spain) 740km.

Alternatively, a very relaxing way to travel from the UK is by train. Take the Eurostar London to Paris (2h20) and TGV to Montpellier (3h20) or Béziers (4h15) and hire a car.

The villa is on the outskirts of Pézenas which is a thriving medieval market town. There are many interesting local villages, including "circulades" which are typical of the Languedoc, within 25km. Other places of interest include Aigues Mortes and the Petite Carmargue (80km), St Guillem le Desert (43km), Roquefort - with the possibility to visit the cheese caves (100km), Carcassonne (110km) and the beautiful winding Canal du Midi. The university city of Montpellier is only 50km from Pézenas.

There are many interesting villages on the way towards Spain (such as Argeles-sur-mer, Port Vendres, Colliure)

Further Details:

Pezenas has many opportunities for eating and shopping, and it is centred in France's largest wine growing area. Wine can be bought direct from the hundreds of small caves in the area, from the cooperatives or from well stocked supermarkets. There is an Leclerc about 15min walk from the villa, and a Carrefour Market a little further away (both now open on Sun mornings). The weekly market (Saturdays) is not to be missed; Pézenas is also renowned for its important artist/craftsman community and bric-a-brac dealers.

Pezenas is well supplied with (French) banks and cash dispensers.
