Only 10 minutes from the town of Bagni di Lucca, and beautifully positioned within its delightful hills, lies Orchard Heights. A newly constructed house that is surrounded by an abundance of fruit trees, cocooned by a chestnut forest and is completely secluded sitting in its own grounds of 3 acres. The house is detached and consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining area and living room. There is a private swimming pool and a large terrace that borders the property.
We are Brian and Deborah Cave and we moved to the Bagni di Lucca area in 2007 with our two boys, following the sale of our business in England. We decided to start a new life in Italy and live ‘La dolce Vita’. We had been welcomed with open arms by our fellow villagers and although we have since returned to the UK, we are still overwhelmed by the hospitality and friendliness of everyone that we have met.
We decided to buy two additional properties to renovate and rent as holiday lets which we have done so successfully for a number of years.
We want everyone who stays in one of our holiday homes to have a fantastic time, experience this wonderful area of Tuscany without paying a small fortune to do so and feel that they have received a good service with value for money.
Brian Cave purchased this villa in 2003
Having fallen in love with Bagni di Lucca, we found an idyllic area in the hamlet of Riolo - one of the many mountain villages that make up the commune of Bagni di Lucca - and decided to build our own holiday home.
The spot was absolutely perfect, set in 3 acres of unspoilt country side. We have a property sitting in its own wildlife park with the occasional visit from deer, beautiful birds of prey catching the thermals as they soar high above the house and the seclusion and peacefulness of being with one's own thoughts.
Perfect for an away from it all holiday or an active holiday for walkers as the property is reached by car or on foot via its own no through track.
As the house is set on its own in 3 acres of countryside and woodland it is the perfect destination for a relaxing holiday. It's not too far from the town of Bagni di Lucca, only 10 minutes down the hill and a 5 minute walk from the main village of Riolo.
Lovely and quiet - very easy to relax here. Directions excellent, despite our reluctance to follow them! Good service by train to Lucca and beyond. But done be fooled by the station being in Bagni di Lucca as it is actually in Fornoli (approximately 2 miles outside Bagni di Lucca).

Fantastic villa which is very well equipped for a holiday rental property. The owners couldn’t do enough to help out. Don’t worry about the entrance slope too much - it’s easy after a couple of times. The DVDs were very helpful on a couple of cloudy rainy days. The only thing missing from home was our dogs!

We had a fantastic holiday, the villa is stunning and on numerous times we saw hawks deer and eagles. We recommend that you go to Garnaiola they have live music and good cheap food. The owners were a delight to talk to and they helped in every way they could.

When you arrive to Riolo and see the track to to the villa you think that why on earth someone has a house down there - but when you arrive to the house you understand :) With your own, private villa and pool there is no hurry to do anything, just enjoy Italian feeling.
Thanks to Monia and her husband, house was clean and everything as promised as we had two families with 3 toddlers and one teenager.
There is no air-con but it wasn't problem as it was nice breeze through upstairs in the night time.
As Brian and Debbie wrote, Il Birribisso offered great food and was nice drive from the house.
I recommend the villa for anyone who want's to enjoy private villa, pool and Italian wine instead of busy bar right next to hotel. Just be prepared - the track to the house may be scary at first.
We had a wonderful stay at Orchard Heights. The villa and its amazing grounds made for a perfect relaxing holiday and the housekeeper, Monia and her husband were always on hand and so helpful. The property is someway up the hillside and in quite a remote spot but it was perfect for us. The track to the property was initially a bit daunting but we did master this after a few days.
The villa is very well equipped with a lovely kitchen and modern bathrooms, and the large pool and poolside seating area are perfect for an afternoon in the sunshine.
We saw plenty of deer and wall lizards around the property during the day and fireflies at night, but our favourite part of the stay was leaving the bedroom shutters open at night with just the insect screen covering the window and watching the stars....really beautiful!
The information given regarding supermarkets, restaurants and local attractions was very useful, and would recommend "Il Birribisso" restaurant in Granaiola, 5-10 minutes drive from the property.
Every year we pick a villa somewhere in Europe to stay with our grown up children for a family holiday/catch up, and I have to say this is one of our favourites to date :-)
