Langoëlan Barn Rental Photos and Description

Farmhouses in Langoelan, near Guemene (Between Pontivy and Rostrenen) Morbihan, Brittany, France - South Facing In Peaceful Rural Location - Your Home In France For Your Stay

Welcome to Locmaria - two sympathetically renovated and beautifully presented 18th Century stone farmhouses set in 4 acres with fantastic views over the peaceful Breton countryside, just outside the village of Langoelan. A real home from home and a great base for discovering all that Brittany has to offer - or if you prefer, you can simply relax by the pool, explore the fantastic countryside around the farm and enjoy some of our local restaurants. Farmhouse sleeps 4-6 and Grange sleeps 2/3.

We have worked hard to ensure that both cottages are furnished to a very high standard and are presented as we would wish them to be if we were coming here for our holiday.

Whether you are looking to relax by the pool with a book or need a comfortable base to explore Brittany, Locmaria is the perfect choice. We are happy to make recommendations for days out, restaurants, walks in the forest or by the Nantes-Brest canal. In 2015 Brittany's largest lake, the Lac de Guerledan is being emptied for repairs to the dam and you will be able to see the villages that were submerged 50 years ago as they emerge from the water - there will be special events and exhibitions throughout the year.

Details for Grange Locmaria (Sleeps 2/3. 1 Bedroom) 1 Bedroom, Sleeps 3, 1 Bathroom

The living area has comfortable sofa (+ sofa bed) and leather armchairs , dining area to seat 4 and then leads onto the generously equipped kitchen.

The large and luxurious bathroom has a double-ended roll-top bath - even better with a glass of something fizzy!

Great for honeymoons, romantic holidays and also brilliant if you have very young children (cot/high chair available). A real haven of peace.

About Nadine Mason

We're David and Nadine Mason and bought what was a ruined farm over 15 years ago and have enjoyed bringing these beautiful buildings back to life. We set out to create gites that are as we would want them to be if we were coming here on holiday. That's why we have furnished them with high quality furniture, generous amounts of crockery, glassware and cutlery and kitchen knives that get sharpened regularly!

Locmaria is a haven of peace and we love to share it with our guests - many of whom have come back several times as they now love it as much as we do. We are always happy to go the extra mile to make sure you have a great stay - recommendations for places to visit, restaurant bookings or even sticking your bikes on the top of the Landrover so that you can start further afield.

Nadine Mason purchased this barn in 1998

Why Nadine Mason chose Le Faouet area

We chose the area because it had lots of green-edged roads on the Michelin map - and the scenery and empty roads do not disappoint whether you are travelling by car, motorbike or bicycle. We can recommend some great routes for rides out in the car and some of the best motorbiking roads in France - often with some great recommendations for attractions and of course lunch along the way.

Our location in the centre of Brittany means you really can make the most of all that the region has to offer - but is still accessible for a weekend visit. We love the peace and quiet but also quick and easy access to bustling towns, great restaurants and beautiful beaches. Nowhere is more than 90mins drive through beautiful countryside on empty roads but there's loads to do in the local area too.

What makes this barn unique

A real home from home that allows you to relax from day one so you get the best from your holiday - however long you spend with us.

We take pride in providing you with great quality furnishings and a brilliantly equipped kitchen - including a block full of sharp knives and a stack of cook books just in case the local food inspires you to start cooking.

The property is surrounded by fields and so you can find your own quiet spot to sit and read or just enjoy the views across the countryside - or you can have a swim in the heated pool or take a run around the local lake if you fancy a bit of exercise.

We have two lovely and very friendly french spaniels and we are happy to consider requests for our visitors to bring their dogs to stay too. There are lots of fantastic walks to enj

Locmaria delivers special holidays to its guests

  • 5 of 5

Leaving the city to linger in the space of Locmaria is profound. If you sit on a rug under a tree somewhere near the deliciously refreshing (heated) swimming pool to read a book or contemplate the universe you can hear your own heart recalibrating. The owners, Nadine and David’s flair in styling the renovation and furnishing of the wonderful original farm buildings at Locmaria is exceptional. The Grange, The Farmhouse and Bis. All offer home-from-home comfort, excellent functionality and endearing charm.

The hospitality of David and Nadine is a mixture between the best hotels and staying with the warmest of family – requests agreeably met, information given, assistance supplied and adventurous ideas explored. And More. Space to breathe is guaranteed, (with the best morning croissants fetched to your front door on days the boulanger makes them)

Locmaria is living centre to all sides and departments of Brittany. Vannes is attractive and bustling with a wonderful market - and the boats and beaches to the south in beautiful Morbihan are one hour away. 25 minutes north is Lake Guerledan with long walks and paddling adventures. The Nantes to Brest canal is close with great cycling paths. There are enough pretty villages to explore to keep you busy for a few years. I discovered that most guests return, there is no greater recommendation.

Coast/Beach:

Locmaria's central location means that we can recommend quiet and unspoiled beaches on the north and south coasts less than 1hr away (1hr30 for the west coast) - whether you want a gently sloping sandy beach with rockpools for the family or wide open beaches with atlantic rollers for surfing/kite-surfing. We know some great restaurants if you fancy enjoying some fresh Breton seafood. The Lac de Guerlendan 20mins drive away has beaches, watersports, walking, horse-riding and restaurants.

Travel:

Ferry Ports: Roscoff 1hr15, St Malo 1hr45, Caen 3hrs, Cherbourg 4hrs, Le Havre 4 hr 30 Calais 6-7 hrs.

Airports: Dinard, Brest and Rennes are all approximately 1hr30 from Locmaria.

You will need a car during your stay (or bicycle if you are very keen - and fit!).

Distances:

The village of Langoelan (1 mile) has boulangerie, bar, 2 restaurants and petrol station. The charming town of Guemene sur Scorff (5 miles) has supermarket and other shopping amenities, banks, bars & restaurants, doctor, dentist and vet. We are happy to make suggestions for visits to local towns and attractions - there's plenty to do within 30mins to 1hr of Locmaria, whether you are looking for activities, culture, history, scenery, things to keep the children entertained or a cracking meal.

Further Details:

We are happy to consider dogs - at our discretion following a conversation with you - and we will ask for a higher deposit. However we are happy to share our Picardy spaniel Islay and our Picardy Blue spaniel Fy with you for the week if you prefer to leave your dog at home.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: A truly romantic hideaway, the Grange is situated up the hill behind the farmhouse and has its own access and parking as well as outside space at both front and back for your own private use. The Grange is entered through the fully glazed arched doorway (the original opening through which the farm machinery was brought for storage) which makes the house beautifully light and airy and gives fabulous views of our majestic oak and other trees across the field. Open all year round with underfloor heating in both properties and also woodburning stoves in the sitting rooms. Double-ended roll top bath. Washing machine. Plenty of books and games provided, Freesat TV/DVD/CD player and also good supply of guidebooks and attraction leaflets. We ask that you refrain from smoking in the house but are happy for you to use your private outdoor areas. Pets considered - please give us a call to discuss. There is travel-friendly vet in nearby Guemene. Outside: The Farmhouse has a south-facing terrasse at the front of the house and there are outside areas for your private use at both front and back of the Grange, equipped with wooden garden furniture (and BBQ available). The 5 x 11m heated swimming pool is shared between the two houses and has a large sun terrasse with recliners and plenty of space for all to relax and enjoy. The pool area has security fencing to ensure safety for small children. You are welcome to explore the 4 acres of garden, fields, woodland and streams - and there are benches and picnic tables dotted around for you to make the most of our peaceful surroundings. Picnic in the top field with wonderful views and fly your kites; find a sunny spot to read a book in complete peace; at the end of a busy day enjoy the fabulous sunsets with a sun-downer at one of the benches dotted around the grounds and don't forget to make time to stand outside later on to appreciate the breathtaking starry skies un-spoilt by light pollution. Great place for a honeymoon too!
