Why Diane Ramsay chose Scotland

Wester Derry is a beautiful small farm which we have farmed to enhance its biodiversity. As a result we have an abundance of wildlife and a completely unspoilt rural retreat to share with you

What makes this house unique

We are in a peaceful rural location but only 25 miles from the Fair City of Perth and Scone Palace, home to the Stone of Destiny, 20 miles to Dundee the City of Discovery which offers a wealth of restaurants, cinemas, ice rink, science centre, wildlife park and the fascinating Discovery Point where you can board the ship used by Captain Scott during his Antarctic expedition. An ideal holiday base for exploring the region, enjoying the beauty of the Angus Glens enjoy hillwalking, horse riding cycling, fishing or golfing or maybe just relax Wester Derry and watch for our resident deer, heron or barnowl

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a fantastic weekend at Wester Derry. The house was extremely clean, spacious and comfortable and was equipped with everything we needed. The log burning stove was a real winter warmer, difficult to tear away from at bedtime. The children loved feeding the horse, Beau and had a lovely time with toffee the farm cat. It was quite a task trying to encourage the children away from the games barn.I mustn`t forget the fantastic traybake that greeted us on arrival, so good we have come away with the recipe. A huge thank you to Alastair and Diane for having the vision to rent out this house to allow us city/town dwellers the fantastic opportunity to get away from it all- I am sure we will be back for more.

Lovely, welcoming holiday home perfect for large families/groups. Owners were very helpful and accommodating. Our little 2 year old was amused for hours with all the toys and books that were made available (which was much appreciated!!). Lovely open plan home from home which was warm and comfortable. Highly recommend and would go there again in a heartbeat.

Lovely Weekend Away

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Holly House was excellent. There was plenty of space, a superb back garden, wonderful layout, and very child and dog friendly. The kitchen was stocked with most of the things we needed to cook most of our meals with, and the house is situated in such a superb location, we were easily able to find plenty to do. Our only concern was with the bed in the master bedroom, the bottom bunk bed, and the single bed downstairs. The mattresses were very uncomfortable; we could feel the springs through the top of the mattresses. It might be worth considering replacing these?

Thank you very much for such an enjoyable weekend.

Family Birthday Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful house, with stunning views, it has all you need for a family. My 18month old grandson had a wonderful time especially playing with all the toys and tractors in the garden. Lovely welcome from The Ramsay's with freshly baked Lemon drizzle loaf waiting for us. Would recommend and stay again.

Charming house ideal for family gathering

  • 5 of 5

The property was just as described - if not better. You want for nothing in the house and all the facilities are as good as new. I loved the layout downstairs which meant everyone felt together - whether you were in the kitchen preparing meals or chilling in the main lounge.

We were here to celebrate a family birthday with a range of ages from 88 to 2 - and perfect for all. Our 4 year old and 2 year old loved running around the house and you never felt crowded.

All bedrooms were of a high standard and well maintained.

The help I got from the owner, Diane, couldn't have been better. She always answered my emails promptly and went out of her way to help us make this a surprise birthday treat by allowing us to "hide" our cars round at their farm!

A lovely welcome was also in store by way of a huge tin of home made tiffin!!

The location is secluded but plenty of places to walk for all levels and only 45 minutes took us to Dundee to visit the Discovery - well worth the trip.

We were only here for 3 days and would definitely return.

Great holiday home

  • 5 of 5

Great holiday home, as described. Very clean and well maintained. Lots of space, well equipped kitchen, very friendly and welcoming owners. We did all sorts of things from climbing in the Cairngorms, visiting castles and playing golf to relaxing at the house, picking raspberries and local walks. An ideal base for a relaxing holiday in the Highlands.
