About the property

Cottages with private gardens

Lilac and Lavender Cottages are 200 yards from our farmhouse home. Until the 1970's they were farm-workers cottages but have now been transformed into two comfortable holiday cottages. Each cottage has its own private garden with lawn, trees and shrubs, garden furniture and barbecues so you are able to relax at home in this peaceful area. The cottages are on the southern edge of the Cotswolds, facing south, 6 miles from the market town of Cirencester with its Roman history and 2.5 miles from Bibury, described by William Morris as the most beautiful village in England.

Peaceful weekend away

  • 4 of 5

Well equipped cottage in a peaceful part of Cotswolds. We were very comfortable as a family of 5 including the 7 month old in the travel cot (provided). The girls enjoyed seeing the animals and we enjoyed exploring the area and relaxing in the evening in front of wood burner.

Cosy, quaint and beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

Lavender Cottage is cosy and well maintained in a beautiful and tranquil setting. The view from the front is uninterrupted across fields and the perfect way to wake up every morning. This is the perfect place is you are looking for a quiet and relaxed break.

Cirencester is only a short drive, Bibury is 2 miles away (a straight forward walk along public footpaths) and Quenington is also close by. If you do want to venture further afield there is plenty to do within a half hour drive.

The cottage itself is very well presented with a well-sized Master Bedroom with a large, comfortable double bed. A good size kitchen / diner and living room with a log fire are perfect for nights in. The garden at the rear is a decent size with a patio area at the far end, imagine it would be beautiful on a summer's evening.

Everything was clean and all the amenities you could need were there.

It was an absolute joy staying here and would consider coming back.

Notes on accommodation: In both cottages fresh flowers from our garden, crisp white bedlinen and large towels are provided each week. A tea tray is available on your arrival. The beds are always made up with duvets with a suitable 'tog' value for the time of year. Hairdryers are in the master bedrooms. Although we ask you leave the cottages clean and tidy, we take pride in ensuring the cottages are always cleaned and checked thoroughly before your arrival. All electricity and night store heating are included in the price. We provide enough wood for your first evening then you can either buy more locally or from us. Outside: The large private enclosed gardens are a great favorite with families with dogs or children or couples looking for a bit of peace. There is ample garden furniture and shade to sit under. Each cottage has its own barbeque. In Spring the gardens are full of blossom, and many visitors have commented on the bird-life. We have a tennis court near our house which visitors may use by arrangement. The field in front of the house are often grazed by horses and sheep and our pet pig, Clarissa is a great attraction! There is parking for 2 cars per cottage. The gardens have connecting gates if friends are renting both cottages.
