About Anthony Stoker

My husband Anthony and I bought the property in Morgins with my sister Lisa and her husband Patrick, principally to use as a skiing location. We are farmers in Northumberland but also have a self-catering holiday business and health club.

Why Anthony Stoker chose Portes du Soleil

We bought the property in this area because we love the vast ski area of the Portes du Soleil but we did not want to be in any of the larger resorts. We love the intimacy of the village and the fact that it is quiet and peaceful and everything is within an easy level walk. Everyone is incredibly friendly and there is a real atmosphere in the village.

It is very accessible from Geneva in the winter and in the summer we love to drive down through France (or Germany, if we have taken the ferry to Amsterdam).

What makes this unique

We have never had a moments regret about buying this place and in fact it grows on us every time we visit. It is fabulous in the winter but we had not anticipated what a pleasure it would be in the summer. We have been out every summer and always come home thinking there was so much more we could have done.

We will ski here for the rest of our lives and not ski all the areas of the Portes du Soleil. We are always finding new runs and new restaurants.

Coast/Beach:

25 minutes drive to Lake Geneva and the beach there where there is swimming and general water sports.

Travel:

Geneva airport is 75 minutes. Aigle train station 20 minutes by car. A car is not necessary in the winter, but is advisable and a car is preferable in the summer though again not essential. It is 9 hours drive from the channel ports.

Distances:

Only 5 minutes over the French border to Chattel. 20 minutes to Champery. 20 minutes to Monthey and Aihgle and 30 minutes to Lake Geneva. Montreux is 40 minutes away and Lausanne 1 hour. Also an hour to Chamonix and 40 mins to Sion and Verbier.

Further Details:

Unbelievable amount of activities to indulge in in the summer. The village has an outdoor pool and wonderful tennis courts. Locally there is parapenting, white water rafting, horse riding, archery, rock climbing and obviously hill walking and hiking. Nearby there are thermal spas and salt mines, golf courses and museums and galleries at Montreux and Martigny.
