Lovely location. Very quiet. Nice inside and cute garden
Really cosy country cottage convenient for Sheffield city and the Peak District
We very much enjoyed our stay. The thick walls insulate the property very well. The back garden is simple but tidy and colourful. The view over the valley is superb: just fields, and those within a kilometer of the suburbs! We would, however, hope that the outside table (at present shown in the photo) will soon be reinstated. In good weather (with which we were blessed) this would make a huge difference. A peaceful, relaxing spot. Some young children now and then and a little distant road noise, but neither of these disturbing and not at all audible in the house. As mentioned in this review's title, the situation is really convenient for a mixture of city and country: we were visiting friends and family in Sheffield but also enjoying the Peak again.
The cottage is well-equipped and comfortable: the beds, too. Cosy really is the word. We found the hot (and cold) water plentiful, so any problems reported by the previous reviewers have apparently been solved. The water is very hot, but good mixer taps throughout give you the right temperature. The bathroom is indeed modern and well-fitted.
There were just two of us. Three adults could manage, two plus child certainly. 4 persons is pushing it. You absolutely need a car, we would say. There are a couple of steps down to the property, two between kitchen and living room, and more up to the bedrooms, so anyone with mobility issues needs to take this into consideration.
It's a pity we can't give 4.5 stars, as we feel this would reflect the quality more accurately. We'd certainly recommend it and would look forward to a further stay.
Good for 3 adults bit squashed with 2 +2
Typical country cottage cold in January until we lit up wood burning stove for 24 hours each day. Whilst my wife had a hot shower all I managed was a cold one
But great position in Valley with lovely views and 400 yards to a real ale country pub which did good steaks with good beer.
It rained all our four days and worth taking cards or your own dvd's if you just want cosy evenings
