About Veronique Jansen

I am Veronique Jansen, a passionate Interior Designer in the centre of Holland.. I have my own company in decorating houses for my busy customers in Holland, but also for people with second houses in foreign countries. My specialism to furnish houses completely turnkey. My passions are: France, Bargemon, colors, art, interior design and architecture.

Werner Wiggers, my husband, is managing consultant/project manager in the energy- and banking business. He works also on a freelance basis. His passions: wine and dine, golf, biking. We have 2 lovely children, Jeroen and Lisanne.

10 years ago we bought our house in Bargemon and so we created our second home and life in this beautiful area. Every time when we are in Bargemon, we are completely surprised by its beauty and nature. We feel privileged that we have this house and place in the South of France.

Veronique Jansen purchased this villa in 2005

Why Veronique Jansen chose Draguignan region

There are several reasons why we bought La Bergerie. This house has a very special atmosphere for us. It is cosy, authentic and has a beautiful naturally big garden. We live there in a quiet area, far away from the crowds, but not isolated en close to nice villages and beautiful cities. The climate is superb with 300 days of sunshine per year. That day, June 2005, we visited the house for the first time, we smelled the broom all over the place and we both fell in love. The house is only 2km away from Bargemon. My opinion, Bargemon is one of the most lovely villages in the Var I know. There is a big central terrace, cosy terraces with platens, good restaurants, galleries, but it is not to commercial. Bargemon is also very easy to reach: by car, TGV (30 min.) and airplane (3 airports).

What makes this villa unique

For me, for us it is one of the most lovely spots on earth -->

Every things comes together over there:

good food, beautiful medieval villages (SEILLANS is named as one of the most beautiful villages of France), several lovely beaches, the nature is so so stunning, cultural life and not to forget the beautiful cities as: NICE, AIX-EN-PROVENCE, CANNES, ANTIBES etc. etc.

Notes on accommodation: Most of the people are impressed by the charm of the old house (main part is a renovated bergerie), it's beautiful scenery and the lovely medieval village Bargemon. Also plenty of lovely other villages in the neighbourhood. Please note, it is a not a prefab modern house; la Bergerie is very authentic and has a real provencal atmosphere and soul. There is a pleasant climate, also in summer. Because of the level of Bargemon (485 M), you can count on a nice soft summer breeze; the house is situated between the sea and the mountains. 300 days of sun per year, makes that we have lunch on the beach at Christmas time! The garden is a natural one. The swimming pool is not in front of te house. We see it as a plus, also for familys with little children. You reach the swimmingpool by 2 little stairs. The terrain is completely private, but not isolated. We have to bikes available; the village is nearby (2 km). We also offer our guests a chest with nice local drinks (alcohol). Outside: The size of the swimming pool measures 10x5 and is heated by solar panels. It is a private swimming pool and has been renovated end of 2009. The view from the swimming area is beautiful. You will overlook a big olive grove with behind it, the mountains. Around the pool you will find 2 big olive trees, many cypresses, oleander, a rosemary hedge, a huge fig tree, and several others. And last but not least 10 places to sit and relax including the daybeds; see the pictures In front of the house/living room is a big veranda grown over with wisteria. There is a 3 M table and 10 chairs. There is also light, so can you read outside by 'night'. You have a view at a olive grove east, and south you will overlook the whole valley. There is also a big RVS gas bbq. The garden is 6000 m2, so with 10 people there is enough privacy and shadow. Utility Room: new wash machine, iron board + equipment, hoover, cleaning equipment. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The price of the cleaning of the whole house is 115 euros. When using just the 1st and 2nd level the price is 105 euros. The price of the linen package is 17 euros p/p: 2 towels and beds are made up on arrival. Both not included in the rent price! Other: The kitchen will be completely renovated for the season of 2014. All the bedrooms have beautiful views on their own way!

Nice holiday at Bargemon

  • 4 of 5

We had a very nice holiday at ?La Bergerie?, an old authentic house full of charm. We loved the kitchen, the living room and the outside terrace. The swimming pool was nice but separated by 2 stairs from the house. The lovely village Bargemon where you find some nice restaurants is only 2 km away.

A lovely house in an olive grove

  • 5 of 5

La Bergerie offered us everything we had hoped for on a holiday in Provence: a beautiful, well maintained and tastefully decorated house, a fragrant garden with rosemary, marjoram and lavender, apricot trees and cypresses, a terrace perfect for unhurried breakfasts and dinners and a pool shaded by ancient olive trees. The house is suitable for holidaymakers with different ideas of a fun vacation: while my children splashed away at the pool, my elderly parents spent long, relaxing afternoons in the various lounging areas in the garden. There was quite enough space for an extended family of seven, and the house would comfortably accommodate two families. All the appliances were in great shape and the kitchen as well as the terrace were very well equipped. There is free wi-fi and a nice DVD library for cosy evenings by the fireside.

The scenery is unforgettable. The house is overlooking a green valley, and there is a calming sense of space. Bargemon and Seillans are a short drive or bike ride away, and other medieval villages as well as breathtaking scenery in places like Gorges du Verdon and the lake of Sainte-Croix are within an easy distance.

I should also say that communication with the friendly, reliable owners was easy and seamless. All in all, my family and I were extremely satisfied with our stay at La Bergerie and are happy to recommend the house to families with children or adult groups.
