Half a mile from the sea, the house has lovely rural views and is set in its own beautiful gardens. Manaccan is a quiet village with pretty, coloured and thatched cottages with tennis courts and childrens' playground. Walks through woods take you to the village of Helford. From Helford a foot ferry takes you across the river to the tropical gardens of Glendurgan and Trebah. St Anthony is 1 1/2 miles away where moorings, launching of boats and trailer storage can be arranged. A short drive away are the sandy beaches of the Lizard with body boarding and surfing. Nearby Helston has Flambards all weather attraction and the naval air station at Culdrose. Falmouth and St Mawes have a wide variety of shops restaurants and marinas and the National Maritime Museum. Gweek and the National Seal Sanctuary are 7 miles from Manaccan.I am afraid we are unable to accept dogs and payment by credit and debit card is not available. Parking at the house for one medium sized car.

About Paul Cahill

Charlotte and I live in London and have three children at university. Work and other interests keep us in the city but we spend as much time in Cornwall as we can developing the garden at Mulberry House and sailing. We have been part of the Manaccan community for 15 years and our children have fond memories of summer holidays and half terms spent in the village and body boarding at the beaches. For us the greatest thing about the house is the sense of release and quiet that you experience when relaxing over a glass of wine taking in the view across the valley.

Christina looks after the house while we are not there and handles the changeovers.

Why Paul Cahill chose Lizard Peninsula

We were spending time in the area on family holidays and thought it would be a nice place to come regularly with the children. We love the countryside and the sea and the large garden. The village has all one could need without going far, with woodland walks by the creek and the children enjoyed exploring the Lizard by bicycle as well as the beaches and sailing.

What makes this house unique

The house is comfortable, light and spacious with plenty of scope for a group of people to play games in the garden, read, cook or chill out indoors. It is warm and cosy in the winter and spectacular in the summer.

Guests at Mulberry House in August 2011 wrote : "Just to say how much we enjoyed our stay. The house was everything we needed it to be. Everything was spotless and we were able to make it a home from home. We explored many of the local attractions and were lucky to be there at Village Fete time. I think we only scratched the surface of things to see and do. The pub was excellent. We would certainly like to visit again. "

Notes on accommodation: On entering the house the open plan dining room and kitchen are to the right and on going through the front lobby door you enter the front sitting room, at the rear of which is the coat hanging rear lobby with door to the left into the rear sitting room and, ahead, into the shower room. There is a baby cot with mattress and high chair; and garden furniture. At the rear of the garden is a clothes drying hanger. The house is non-smoking and pets are not permitted. Outside: Garden to the front and side are grass. To the rear there are shrubs trees and grass. Patio area with outside dining table and sun umbrella close to rear kitchen door and rear sitting room door. There is space for one car to park off the lane in front of the house. Utility Room: Washer/dryer under worktop in ground floor shower room. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Telephone and wifi broadband, Oil CH, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Please bring your own beach towels. Other: Entrance hall and lobby for hanging coats.

Fantastic stay at Mulberry House

We had such a great stay at Mulberry House - exceeding our expectations. The house was very clean, well appointed, spacious and cosy. There's no mobile signal but the owners let you use the land line and the WiFi was excellent so our kids were happy! The house had everything we needed cooking-wise and the bathrooms looked liked they'd had a recent refurb too so that was great as grotty bathrooms are a pet hate. The rooms are light and airy - we especially liked the kitchen / dining room. The back garden in particular is very pretty and perfect for little ones to explore. However it could do with a BBQ - there were BBQ tongs etc in the drawer but nothing to cook on! Such a pity. Manaccan village is delightful and seems to be gradually coming back to life. Sadly the village shop has closed down and we were disappointed the lovely looking (am /lunch only) village café remained closed for our stay too - not sure of its future?? But the pretty thatched - now community owned - pub has reopened - and hoping to start serving food soon (summer?). But it wasn't a major issue as we regularly walked to Helford (c20 mins from the house through the fields/ woods) for an early evening drink and meal at the fabulous Shipwrights. Suggest booking meals though as its v popular. We visited the beautiful village church too - so if that's your bag, it was well worth it and we found everyone very friendly. Mulberry is really great value for money and we'll definitely return!

Mulberry House, Manaccan

A really enjoyable stay in this fantastic house. The house was warm, comfortable, bright and cosy. The house is very spacious, and very well equipped. The views from the front across the valley are fantastic. The village is really tranquil, and there are many walks from the house, including the coast path. We were very lucky with weather in early April, but it would have been great even if the weather was bad. The pub in the village has re-opened, but unfortunately we didn't make it there. The Lizard Peninsula is a fantastic part of Cornwall, and there was so much to do (even for three teenaged children) that we didn't leave it.

We would definitely recommend this house and this location.

Mulberry House at Manaccan

We stayed at this property for a week to do walking in the area. We found the house clean, comfortable, warm, well equipped and very spacious. There are no facilities now in Manaccan as sadly the pub, bistro and shop have all closed in the last year. The Fish and Chip van did visit on a Tuesday evening and that was very good. There is a shop and pub and nearby Helford both of which are excellent. The walks from the house and the surrounding area are outstanding and can be tackled by all abilites. We had a fantastic stay and I would recommend it highly.

Local bathing at Bosahan Cove and Gillan Creek, 15 minute walk. Beaches within half an hour drive: Coverack (harbour, wide sand and pebble beach), Gunwalloe (Large sandy beach at low tide, national trust car parK), Kennack Sands, wide sandy beach, parking), Poldhu, medium sandy beech, parking, Polurrian, sandy cove down a cliff walk, Porthallow, stone and fine shingle, parking, Kynance Cove, spectacular sandy beech at low tide set amongst rugged cliffs and boulders.


Railway Stations: Truro (25 miles), Redruth (18 miles), Penzance (21.6 miles). Car Hire at Truro and Penzance stations.

Newquay Airport, St Mawgan, Newquay, Cornwall TR8 4RQ. 40 miles. 45 minute drive. Channel Port: Plymouth 73 miles.


Helston is the nearest town, 8 miles. Truro 25 miles. Falmouth 20 miles. Penzance 21.6 miles. St Ives 26.6 miles. Newquay 40.6 miles.

Further Details:

The shop, pub and restaurant in Manaccan are closed at present. But as well as the shop in Helford, there is one at Mawgan 4.5 miles away which has long opening hours, and 24 hour Tescos and Sainsbury's at Helston. Fresh local fish can be bought on the road out of Newtown, 3.5 miles. Tescos Helston will deliver.

A non-refundable deposit of 25% is payable at the time of booking, with full payment due 4 weeks prior to commencement. There is an additional £200 security deposit payable when the balance is due which is refunded as long as the house has been left in good order and the keys have been returned. There is an external key safe for flexible arrival time.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Friday in high season - there is some flexibility in mid/low season. Arrival time: after 3 pm on the first day of the booking. Depart before 10.00am on the last day to allow for cleaning.

100% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
