Chalet de l'Abbaye is set in a beautiful rural location. It stands alone and is one of a group of 4 chalets built 15 years ago and has its own garden. It is charmingly furnished in a typically Haute Savoie style, and is equipped to an extremely high standard. Now with Wifi. The layout is very suitable for families,and also provides excellent accommodation for 3 or 4 couples or 3 or 4 guests each wanting a separate room.

We have 5 children and 10 grandchildren and as we had been lucky enough to get all our children skiing when young, we had long dreamt of being able to do the same for our grandchildren.

Our own personal ambition is to still be skiing at 80!

We are a retired solicitor and physiotherapist and live in a small village in Warwickshire l

Why nigel phillips chose Portes du Soleil

We have always loved skiing in the Portes du Soleil and have always dreamed of owning our own home in this wonderful area.

We are 75 mins from Geneva airport (on a perfect run) and have a wonderful small town half a mile away and a great Carrefour supermarket 2 miles away.The chalet is definitely our home in the mountains and we love it in every season of the year.The Winter for skiing, the Spring for wonderful mountain flowers, the Summer for all the summer activities - climbing, hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting, summer luge, swimming,riding etc. Autumn is amazing with fantastic walking, autumn colours and cosy moments snuggled in by the woodburnerwith a good book!

It's a magic place!!

The chalet is self contained, with 3 car parking spaces in a peaceful meadow setting.

What makes this chalet unique

In the Winter, we have cheap convenient local skiing (5 minutes away) and the amazing 650 km of skiing in the Portes du Soleil approx 12-15 minutes away, including Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets, giving access to Swiss/French resorts such as Chatel, Morgins etc.

In the Summer there are stunning walks from the chalet, a challenging rock climb (the elephant's head) approx 200 metres away behind the chalet and once again all the summer sporting activities available in Morzine and Les Gets.

We have a small garden around the chalet,for BBQs, lazing in hammocks and admiring the stunning views of mountains and valleys to the sound of cowbells.

There are several small villages and restaurants nearby and the towns of Morzine, Thonon, Annecy,Yvoire and Geneva are all easily accessible

Ski heaven

This is a wonderful chalet! Very comfortable for 6 adults (plus sofa bed and z- beds if more needed) Delightful area with huge scope for exploring different ski bases, by car. Great place for a family get together. You'll be surrounded by stunning scenery. Owners are extremely helpful. We had a brilliant time there. We know the area is also fantastic for mountain biking in the summer! If you enjoy adventures and are looking for a great time with a small group/family- we highly recommend this!

Idyllic chalet, Brilliant skiing!

We arrived to fantastic snow and what was so great was the choice in resorts within a 10 minute drive. Literally hundreds of runs to choose from for all abilities. The views from the chalet were sensational and the chalet itself was like being in a home from home. We were lucky enough to meet the owners Mags and Nigel who were such lovely people and made us feel very comfortable and were incredibly accommodating.

The chalet has everything you could ever want for either a group of friends or family and the log burner really pumps out some heat for some very warm and cosy nights. Overall a fantastic ski trip and we will definitely be booking again and telling our friends as it's also great for the summer to mountain bike and climb too. Thanks so much for a perfect place to stay. X

Special interest holidays:

Cycling, golf, mini golf, mountain biking, climbing, white water rafting, tennis, horse and donkey riding,paragliding, swimming, summer luge and water parks are all in the vicinity. A little further afield are all the water sports available on Lakes Geneva and Annecy. There is a vast and wonderful selection of marked and guided walks in the area, several of which can be accessed from the chalet without having to get in your car!


The nearest airport is Geneva which is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes by car. Car hire/use of a car is highly recommended. Calais is 8/9 hours drive away.


St Jean d'Aulps village is 2 minutes by car (15 minutes on foot).

Carrefour hypermarket/filling station is 6 minutes by car.

The Grande Terche skiing area is 5 minutes by car

Morzine 10 minutes.

Les Gets 15 minutes.

Thonon les Bains 25 minutes.

Annecy 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Further Details:

Amenities within walking distance include bars and restaurants, bakery, tourist office, butchers, fromagerie, pharmacy, newsagents, ATM facility, small supermarket, hairdressers, ski hire shops, garage. Morzine and Thonon les Bains have excellent shops, restaurants and leisure facilities.
