About Vincent and Maria Lynott

We have lived in the Dordogne for 9 years, but have nearly 30 years knowledge of the area. We're happy to answer any questions you may have and can advise on all the best spots to visit;

Vincent and Maria Lynott purchased this barn in 2006

Why Vincent and Maria Lynott chose Perigord Noir

Before we bought this property it had belonged to friends of ours - so we knew the house for about 20 years before we moved in. We fell in love with it when we first saw it, just as we did with the Dordogne area.

What makes this barn unique

Outstanding uninterrupted views. Tranquil location yet is only a short drive to some of the most beautiful villages and sites in the Dordogne.

Utterly enchanting!

  • 5 of 5

Our hosts, Vince and Maria, were wonderful. Full of helpful advice and guidance about the local area. They recommended the Friday night fete in the village of Saint Cybranet, it didn't disappoint - live music and a variety of food vendors offering regional specialities as well as more international cuisines (e.g. Thai). A fantastic evening was enjoyed by the whole family.

Owl Barn is a complete home from home, in fact it's rather lovelier than our own home! We can't wait to rebook and visit again.

Another Wonderful Return Holiday

  • 5 of 5

There is an old adage that you should never return to a place where you have had a wonderful time in case you are disappointed, fortunately Les Bruguettes is the exception that proves the rule. Everything was as lovely as we remembered, the only minor changes were all improvements! The view was still stunning, the pool area was still immaculate and Barn Owl was still as attractive and comfortable. Maria and Vince were the perfect hosts as ever - always attentive but never intrusive. Their suggestions and advice really made the holiday perfect and we managed to explore new parts of the Dordogne this time by bike on the dedicated local cycle tracks. We still miss our evening BBQs on the balcony watching the sun go down so we may have to test the old adage again sooner rather than later. We would have no hesitation in recommending this gite to anyone.

Wonderful return visit

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at Les Bruguettes the first being at Treetops in 2016.

We found Owl Barn just as pleasant with that added extra space as it sleeps 4, but don't let that put you off as it's fine for two people.

Returning back for two weeks meant that we could relax more and also visit places that we missed last time.

As it was our anniversary Vincent and Maria kindly booked a table for us at the Le Maraval restaurant, which we can recommend.

Thank you again to Vincent and Maria for making our stay memorable and relaxing, for the anniversary card and flowers.

For just being there when needed!

We were so happy to return back to this beautiful gite with stunning views. Enjoying sitting out on the balcony with a glass of wine soaking up the relaxation! It was lovely to see Vincent & Maria, owners, lovely couple, and nothing is too much trouble. Visited different places, markets and chateau's. Would highly recommend this gite, perfect ! Beautiful gite in a beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We can highly recommend a stay at the Owl Barn. The views from the balcony were beautiful, the wood burner and central heating kept us warm, the kitchen was well equipped for self-catering and the beds very comfortable! In addition, there is lots of useful information provided - guidebooks, maps, walk guides, leaflets on local attractions, handy tips about restaurants, supermarkets etc. The owners live next door and were very welcoming and helpful - even to the extent of stocking us up with non-dairy milk & spread (in addition to the standard welcome pack of eggs, bacon, honey etc)! Everything very clean and in good condition. Sadly, it was too late in the year for us to use the pool, but it looks very well set up with separate lounging areas for the two gites, and a shady covered sun-terrace further down the garden.

It proved to be a very good location for exploring some of the beautiful cliff-top villages along the Dordogne, which were very peaceful at this time of year.

Many thanks to Vincent and Maria for the warm welcome!
