Our property lies adjacent to the village of Beckwithshaw and only 2 miles from the centre of Harrogate, in a stunningly beautiful, rural location. A very spacious property, probably 10 times the space of a standard hotel room. We offer a home from home feeling, privacy and peace and quiet. Beams throughout this idylic property. Bedroom and bathroom on upper floor. Downstairs kitchen, dining and lounge.

About Mr. and Mrs. A. Scott

Kate is a Special needs teacher and I am an Engineering officer in the Merchant navy. My wife and I own Emcee, in Barbados and The Old Barn annex in Beckwithshaw, Harrogate. Both homes are very dear to us and guests have commented on how welcome they were made to feel in the home from home atmosphere in both properties. Indeed, we aim to offer our guests as much care as possible during their stays in warm and friendly environments. We have travelled quite a bit and stayed in many self-catering villas, both home and away and so have gleened from this what we all need during our breaks from reality. Why Mr. and Mrs. A. Scott chose North Yorkshire

The "Threshing Barn" is an annex of our own home which we converted in 1999. It is a wonderful, rural location, but close to the town of Harrogate and a number of rural pubs and restaurants.

Probably, a 40 minute walk into town, or a 5 minute car ride.

What makes this barn unique

Judging by comments we have received, our guests have enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the countryside, coupled with the close proximity to Harrogate. We feel that the space which is offered, is by far in excess of a standard B&B or city hotel.

We thank Kate & Andrew, for a very warm welcome in there wonderfull barn. Very clean and cosy.

Perfect position for Harogate and walking in the dales no where is very far from the barn.

Great pub only a short walk away. will certainly stay again.

Delighted with our barn!

A word of thanks to Andy and Kate for having us at their delightful barn conversion. The barn was just perfect for the two of us and excellent value for money. It was cosy and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet of the countryside - the added bonus was being so close to Harrogate and all that it provides. Would definitely return and recommend.

Car: recommended

Special interest holidays:

Lots of walks and cycle paths nearby.

Harlow Carr gardens are only 1 mile away if you were looking for a horticulturally based holiday.

Whatever your culinery requirements, we are more than happy to recommend the best restaurant we can.


The nearest coastline or resort is Whitby, or Scarborough and this is about a 1.5 hours drive.


Leeds/Bradfort airport is only 8 miles away.


"The Old Barn" is situated adjacent to the village of Beckwithshaw, with Harrogate being only 2 miles away. Leeds and York are also only about 25 miles away, with excellent rail connections.

Further Details:

Between Harrogate, Leeds and York, I doubt you will be short of the opportunity to shop. Harrogate contains a wealth of bars and restaurants and Beckwithshaw itself has an excellent country pub. Harrogate is a conference town, so we are happy for our annex to be used for shorter termed, business purposes.

If you wish to book the accomodation at the last minute, or need instant confirmation, please call us on 01423 508008. We will require payment by cheque or cash on arrival for short term weekend bookings, but will require a 20% deposit for longer term lets.
For stays of one night we charge £80 per night. We ask that you would kindly leave before 10am on the day of departure.

Notes on accommodation: The annex is essentially one large room with a mezzanine level, on which the bedroom and en-suite is situated. Effectively you get far more space than a similarly priced hotel suit. Outside: The property has an excellent, shared garden, patio and BBQ area. The local village pub is only a 5 minute walk over the field. There are a number of terrific walks towards Harrogate, via Birk Crag and Harlow Carr Gardens. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: The property is cleaned prior to and following your stay. All linen and towelling is provided.
