Set in the the rural countryside of South Northamptonshire, Grafton Cottages are nestled in the picturesque village of Blisworth.
Grafton Cottages offer a collection of 3 distinctly unique properties situated in the grounds of Grafton Villa, a country home built by the Earl of Grafton in 1837 to show off the Northampton stone. Some years later the house became home to the local Doctor and the cottage provided the waiting room and dispensary for his patients. Over time both the cottage, the house and other outbuildings fell into a state of disrepair but both the house, cottage and stables have now all been lovingly restored.
Grafton Cottages are ideally located for walkers, with Blisworth boasting an abundance of beautiful walks. The cottage is within easy walking distance of the canal and Blisworth Marina. There is also a lovely walk along the towpath to the famous Blisworth tunnel and barge trips from Blisworth to Stoke Bruerne (and further afield) are available. Northamptonshire boasts a wealth of stately homes and museums - all within easy reach, as is the quaint town of Towcester and the Silverstone race circuit.
A bus stop serving Towcester and/or Northampton is situated right outside the house.
We consider ourselves very fortunate to live in a wonderful old stone building on the edge of the Northamptonshire village of Blisworth. Our house used to belong to the local doctor (pre NHS) whilst this lovingly restored cottage used to house his waiting room, the dispensary and the pump for the well!
The cottage is in the grounds of our house but totally self sufficient. It is just a short walk from the beautiful canal and a slightly longer stretch to the famous Blisworth Tunnel. We are also within walking distance of pubs and a shop and just a 10-15 minute drive to Northampton, Towcester or Sliverstone.
"Beautiful cottage, stylish and very comfortable. Thank you Nicky and Tim" - Mat and Vicki, Hertfordshire.
"Thank you for making us so welcome. Your comfortable, snug cottage was just what we needed - will recommend to everyone"- The Mansfield family, Northampton
"Beautifully furnished cottage located perfectly for us to visit family and friends. Happy New Year to you both and we will definitely be booking with you again in the future" - George, Carla, Isabella and Maria, Algarve, Portugal
Well equipped & clean property. Very friendly and helpful owners. Lots to do nearby. Train line was a bit noisy, but got used to it!
The owners were very helpful prior to and during our stay.
Frankel was spotlessly clean tastefully, decorated and had everything we needed. Lovely bathroom with hairdryer and big towels - shower pressure was strong. Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were provided. Nice little patio area to sit with a glass of wine where you might meet Herbie the Labradoodle.
The sign of a good holiday is when you book again for next year when you're there!!
We had a great stay at the stables, we rented both the one bedroom properties.
The stables are both extremely well decorated, very clean and have all facilities you need for a break away from home. The wifi was free and very fast and reliable...and no need to get passwords etc which makes such a change in holiday accommodation.
The kitchen included a small counter top oven, which worked well. I managed to prepare both a evening meal and a breakfast with it, with no problems. There's also a microwave in a separate summer house that also worked and was very handy.
The bathroom was again, very clean and shower was modern with plenty of hot water. Again this is not the case in so many holiday rentals.
The living area included a tv with cable as well as a very comfortable bed with clean bed linen and two tub type chairs.
There's plenty of off road parking that is also totally secure.
On arrival the owners had provided milk, tea, coffee, sugar and some biscotti, which again is a nice touch and welcome.
The stables are quiet at night, so sleeping and relaxing whilst there was not a problem.
The owners are also very friendly and gave us plenty of information about where we could eat out and info on the local area.
But for us one of the big highlights was Herbert, their labradoddle. A really friendly and lovely dog that came around to the stables when we were in. Although I'm sure if you was not keen on dogs he would be kept away. We had brought our dog with us and again this wasn't a problem.
I would highly recommend the accommodation to anyone, whether it's a weekend away or a walking holiday. We are already looking forward to staying again in the near future.
Thank you to the owners
Had a wonderful weekend at Grafton Cottage, a well equipped and clean property. We were attending a family wedding and Nicky and Tim were perfect hosts, going that extra mile arranging hairdresser appointments and exercising our dog whilst we were out. Lovely walks along the canal path and around the village. Would recommend without hesitation. Thank you again Nicky and Tim for an enjoyable stay.
Everything we could possibly need. A beautiful cottage; clean and tidy. Although I was using the cottage as base to visit friends and family,it gives easy access to lots of hidden gem villages. Nicky & Tim were perfect hosts, and I will try to rebook whenever I am back in the area.
We are situated just a 5 minute journey from junction 15 of the M1.
There is a 24 hour Tesco store just a five minute drive away. Restaurants and pubs are within easy reach and the town centre is just a 15 minute drive away. There are bus stops to take you to either Northampton or Milton Keynes, just outside the main house.
