About Ann

We are an Irish couple who have lived in the UK for over 20 years. We are kept busy with our two young children. We have been advertising on owners direct for over 6 years now and have been fortunate to rent our villa to genuinely delightful guests who all share our love of France, spending time with family and having a beautiful, private, peaceful place to stay in a great location. We manage the villa ourselves with help from English friends who live in France. For your security we process the rentals the old fashioned way where we post a contract to your home address to be returned to our home address before any deposit is paid, please feel free to call and speak to us personally at any time. We hope you have a wonderful time on holidays at our villa and we are always available in person on the phone or email to help with any questions you have before you go. While on holidays Jo and Darren will look after you. Please read our reviews to see what our guests have experienced.

Ann purchased this villa in 2006

Why Ann chose Saint-Paul-en-Forêt

We love escaping to the sunny warm weather and the gorgeous food in the South of France. We visit the villa in the school holidays and are amazed at how excellent the area is as a holiday destination for families with young children. My parents spend time at the villa in May and October when the weather is also great and you can explore at your leisure. My father is a keen yachtsman, he spends hours browsing around the yachts at Frejus harbor and was enthralled with the beauty of the Tall Ships which come to St Tropez in October. My mother loves the glamour, shopping and fine restaurants of Cannes which is an easy 30 minute drive from the villa.

What makes this villa unique

Guests will enjoy a spacious villa which also benefits from the convenience of having the outside terrace and heated pool close to the villa. The villa is in a large gated plot in a quiet residential area yet only 5 minutes walk from the local village. The location is excellent for exploring the local area and beyond. Our representatives who will meet you on your arrival are an English couple. They have spent time working and living in the South of France and have invaluable knowledge on the local area. They are available throughout your stay to answer any questions you have while you are enjoying your holiday.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We chose your house because we felt it offered us what we required

from a holiday home.

After a wonderful week staying in your beautiful home I can say

honestly say it gave us more than it promised.

From the lovely welcome from Peter, to the stunning interior of the

house and the quite magical outside space.

We all left a tiny piece of us at Les Colles.

Thank you for such a glorious holiday experience.

St Paul en Forêt is a delightful Provençal village. It has an excellent bakery, butcher and 2 great restaurants. Further Details:

General area - This is a fantastic holiday area. Visitors can explore the length of the charming Cote d'Azur, and yet delve deep into the heart of Provence within a couple of hours. The immediate surroundings are of rolling hills, woodland, olive groves and delightful medieval hilltop villages such as Fayence with pavement cafes, restaurants and artisan shops. These villages host many events and festivals during the summer. Within a 15 minute drive is the stunning Lac de St Cassien, an outstanding area of natural beauty, with swimming, sailing, kayaking, pedalos, fishing and horse-riding - it is a popular alternative to the Med.

Fayence and surrounding villages - Fayence is a well known medieval perched village perched high and with some beautiful views of the Esterel hills. It is situated in the unspoilt hinterland just inland from the famous resorts and beaches of the Riviera so it's very close to the fashionable Riviera, yet it edges into beautiful Provence. It is one of five villages all founded around year 1000 (Seillan, Callian, Tourette, Montauroux and Fayence). They are amongst the most beautiful villages in France – with stone village houses lining narrow cobbled streets leading to a 'Place du Marche' or castle and church. In addition to local shops and restaurants there is a different Provencal market for nearly every day of the week. Near-by is the local Marché Paysan (Farmers Market) which is open 6 days a week in the summer.

Gorges du Verdon - The breathtaking chasm of the Gorges du Verdon also called the Grand Canyon du Verdon is unique in Europe and is one of the greatest tourist attractions in Provence. It is dubbed as one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in France. It was formed by the Verdon River, which is named after its startling turquoise-green colour, one of the canyon's most distinguishing characteristics. The Verdon River has cut into the rock an amazing 700 metres (2,300 feet) to create the tear in the landscape.

Fabulous villa, we wanted for nothing!

  • 5 of 5

This villa is an excellent property, spacious and very well equipped, we literally didn't want for anything. The pool is a great size and, due to it being heated, meant we were in it day and evening, we had to drag the children out to eat! All bedrooms are spacious and cool (so pleased for the air conditioning) and decorated beautifully in keeping with the stone villa. The area is beautiful, unspoilt and not touristy at all - perfect - with the local village having 2 lovely restaurants, bakers and butchers. We ventured out to Cannes, Saint Raphael and Saint Tropez, all within easy reach of the villa, which is about a 30 minute drive to the coast. The next local village to ours, Fayence, was lovely and lively with bustling markets and a good range of restaurants and a huge lake was only a 10 minute drive away where we did water sports and an inflatable assault course - this is a great day out for the family. We all absolutely loved this holiday and will definitely be returning. Thank you Ann for your quick responses and help to the many questions I fired at you, you were a great help!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your great review and you are more than welcome for the help. We learn lots ourselves from these guest reviews about how to enjoy our holidays, its fabulous to see how quickly people discover the best of the area and how much activity they fit in while on holidays, very impressive! Definitely the air-con was a must this year as it was quite hot but also, exactly as you say, we found that the pool heating makes all the difference for enjoying the pool in the early morning and late into the evening/night. Would love to have you back anytime. Thanks again. Ann

"Far from the madding crowd" ... but not too far!!

  • 4 of 5

Les Colles was perfect for us. Set in a quiet, rural but also residential area,it was an easy walk to the village and just 10 minutes drive from Fayence. We didn't want the hustle and bustle of the coast but did want reasonable access to our favourite haunts. Being an easy 15 minute drive to the motorway ticked that box completely. The property itself exceeded the description being , spacious, well equipped and functional yet retaining its rustic charm. Outside the heated pool was fantastic for us and the table tennis table (dead easy to open and close) the scene of many a hard fought battle. Sunbathing was a joy with plenty of comfortable recliners and umbrellas to hand. We invariably retreated to the large canopied pergola at some point to escape the blazing sun - a great place for a tranquil read. The grounds were extensive and totally private with glimpses of the surrounding mountains from several view points. Vehicular access to the property and parking was refreshingly simple and uneventful - not always the case! . We ate well at reasonably priced local restaurants with Seillans being our favourite haunt. To summarise a perfect spot for both families or older couples like us who want the climate and "savoir faire" of the Riviera but also value an unhurried environment with plenty of peace and seclusion

So good we keep returning!

  • 5 of 5

The Villa is situated in a quiet area and the grounds are surrounded by trees. There is a lovely view across the grounds and out across the mountains.

The pool is salt water, not chlorine, and is lovely to swim in. At one end there are steps down in to it then it slopes towards the other end where it is too deep to stand.

The Villa is lovely and has tiled floor throughout. There is airconditioning in the bedrooms and sitting/dinning room but on all our visits we have never needed to use it because the Villa has always remained at a comfortable temperature anyway.

Only point to note is if you don't like Geckos then you may not want to sit outside as they are always around on the buildings stonework. They are NOT a problem though (we certainly do not mind them at all) but if you have a phobia of them you may need to consider this point.

So to sum up, a lovely Villa with a lovely pool, well furnished and well situated. The owner is always very helpful and we certainly intend to keep returning.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the review, we really appreciate it, and we would love to have you back to stay again anytime. Glad you like the pool - it is a joy and the steps and depth make it really practical and good for kids to jump and dive into for all day fun. We think its such a lovely climate in the south of France and the villa is designed to remain cool inside during the hot summer months with the traditional shutters, thick stone walls and tiled floors. Sounds like you have figured out how to really enjoy your holidays, hope to have you back soon.

This was our second stay at this amazing villa.

  • 5 of 5

The only word that comes to mind is "amazing". What a beautiful place to stay. The grounds of the villa give the impression of being far away from civilization yet your close enough to walk to the beautiful village. The villa itself is wonderful and beautifully decorated. If you like to swim, then look no further, the pool is Magnificent. I loved the fact that it was heated and some evenings I found myself sitting in the pool for hours. I found the location perfect for day trips to Nice, Monaco and St. Tropez. This was our second trip and I can't wait for our third!!

A week wasn't long enough

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic week at the villa and would recommend it very highly. A lovely setting, first class accommodation, and exceptional outside space.

There were 6 of us (including 4 teenagers) but it easily felt spacious enough for everyone to find a little peace and quiet when they wanted it. We had a week of great weather and so spent all our time outside around the (larger than expected) pool, mucking about in the water or playing table tennis. We ate every meal outside, which was wonderful. Swimming in the pool at night was a treat. Everything felt easy, comfortable and relaxed. The house is beautiful: stylish, clean, spacious, well kept and with everything we needed. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the bedrooms pretty. We did lots of exploring: Cannes, Antibes, Ste Maxime, as well as Fayence for the market. Everyone enjoyed getting out and about but equally we could have spent even more time just hanging out by the pool! We were given a very warm welcome by Jo and Darren, who were also at the end of the phone if we needed them. Everything was easy, from booking to departure. We all decided that we would like to return - only for much longer!

Superb

  • 5 of 5

The villa is excellent, the area is beautiful. Seillans is a typical old hill village, sadly the church was closed. Grasse market was the best, and we got caught for an hour in a bar during one of Provence's late summer thunderstorms. Moules in Fayence with a bottle of rose. Our favourite restaurant is La Ponch in St Tropez, a short drive to St Maxime and a boat across the bay. Fun at the villa included table tennis, ball games in the pool, lengthy lunches and suppers. Our favourite local vineyard, Domaine de Marchandise, is still producing elegant rose wines. In all, all 6 had a great time. I'm trying to round up a party for 2018.
