About the property

4 bedroom 3 bathroom with quiet, secure garden in village with amenities.

Our house is a conversion and extension of four old cottages,used by the "flotteurs", who used to take logs from the surrounding forests, make them into rafts and float them to Paris. It is all on one floor, with cellars below and large attics, which are unused.

Part of the property has oil fired central heating, which also heats the water for the kitchen. The rest has hot water and heating provided by electricity.

There is a large kitchen, with electric cooker, microwave, frig/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and drier. In the kitchen is a large expandable dining table and chairs (also a high chair).

The living room has seating for eight, with satellite TV receiving French and English programmes. Wi-fi is available.

Thee are 3 bedrooms - 2 with double bed and 1 with twin beds. A large room at the end of the property is set up as an additional living/TV room, but the settee can convert to two single beds, if a fourth bedroom is required.

The large end room and the adjoining twin bed bedroom share the use of a bathroom with shower. One other bedroom has a small en suite with shower. The remaining double bedroom has a stand alone bathroom, next to it, with bath.

The living room and 3 of the bedrooms have doors which open to the gardens outside.

The property is accessed by a communal courtyard, with private enclosed gardens behind. These are on three levels. At the top is a heated swimming pool (9 X 4.5 metres) with an electrically operated cover. The heater used a heat exchange system, which gives a reasonably warm, but not hot (!) temperature. We ask guests to do routine pool maintenance (filter cleaning etc) but there is help if required.

There are steps down to another garden, which has a small lawn and paved terrace with dining table/chairs and BBQ.

Further stone steps lead down to the bottom courtyard, which is paved, with a well in the middle. This is a working well, with an electric pump for the garden and pool, if necessary. The well is covered and has a metal grid, for safety.

There is parking for two cars.

In the basement we have 5 bicycles (2 mens, 3 ladies) for tenants' use.

Outside: In addition to the courtyard, terrace and lawns there is a garage and parking for 1 more car. There is outdoor seating and dining for 12 at two tables. The swimming pool (9m x 4.5m) is heated, with contra-current, underwater light, electric powered safety cover and robot cleaner. There are sun beds and loungers. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bedlinen with one change of linen. One set of towels.

By car. From Dover. In addition to the Eurotunnel, there are frequent ferries to Calais (11/2 hours) and Dunkirk -(2 hours). From the French coast the drive takes just over 5 hours, excluding stops.

By rail. Train connections are available from London or Ashford to Paris Gare du Nord. Then metro or taxi to Gare de Bercy and local French railway to Chatel-Censoir station via Migennes (two and a half hours from Paris).

  • Service Fee fully refunded on cancellations that qualify for 100% refund.
