About Charles Ram
Much to my childrens amusement I now have my free London bus pass! I am married with three children and have lived and worked in London for the last 38 years. My family and I love adventure and so living in the city gives us a big incentive to get out and enjoy the wonderful places the world has to offer, I fell in love with Bovec whilst riding my motorcycle back to London from Dubrovnik in 2006. It was immediately obvious after only being in Bovec and the Soca valley for a day, it was a very special and secret place with warm friendly people. I bought a house here 3 months later in the centre of town. I spent a couple of long years renovating it and now I come here regularly with my wife and three children.
Charles Ram purchased this House in 2006

Bovec is the one of the most special towns in Slovenia... it has the magnificent river Soca running through the valley and ... If you haven't been to Bovec before here is a small list of things we do when we come here ... Rafting, Kayaking, Canyoning, Walking, Cycling and Exploring the first world trench lines The Soca Valley is not only an activity region, it is also a wonderful place to relax. The pebble 'beaches' along the banks of the river Soca make perfect spots for family picnics and lazy days. Painters and Botanists love Bovec as well: it's breathtaking scenery and stunning mountain and valley flora attracts both the relaxed and adventurous explorer. ... and more importantly, there is some great local food and fine regional wines to enjoy.

Wonderful location to explore the Triglav National Park
This chalet is centrally located in Bovec, a lovely base for exploring the beautiful Triglav National Park. The scenery is stunning with the beautiful Julian Alps and Soca river closeby. There is plenty to do for an active holiday from riverside walks to mountain hikes, river based activities and cycling. We covered 1000 km from our base at Chalet Floranneve visiting Bohinj, Bled, Postojna Caves, Piran (coast), hiking to the summit of Mangart and driving up the wonderful Višič Pass.
The chalet itself is well equipped, we are a group of 7 adults and rely on there being a fully equipped kitchen. Decent size pots and pans for our party size is a must and this was all provided. Plenty of cups, mugs, plates etc and decent size fridge. Plenty of hot water and a decent sized table for us to all enjoy a meal together. Parking is at the back of the chalet. Key collection and drop off was easy with a local manager on hand if you have any queries. The position is perfect, we would walk to the shops each morning to get supplies and fresh bread. It’s a clean, friendly mountain town with lots of places offering river based activities like white water rafting.
A very comfortable house in the heart of Bovec
The house worked well for 2 families. It was quiet yet central. It was well equipped.
Clean, spacious and well equiped
Our two families stayed in this beautifully restored chalet which has 3 floors, 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. A delight! Location was good and parking was available. The kitchen was well equipped. The living space was very comfortable and the whole design offered a welcoming ambience. We would go again which is the best recommendation we can give. The only problem was the mattress in the second double bedroom which we found very uncomfortable. Slovenia is such a beautiful country. There were some amazingly picturesque walks, waterfalls, and history for those who are interested. Plenty of water sports available and rivers to bathe and swim in. All Slovenians seem to be able to speak English fluently and are such kind and considerate people. You can drive to the capital, to the coast, to Italy and to Austria all within 2 hours - what more can you ask for from a location - something for everyone! Try it..... you won't regret it!
Excellent location. Immaculately presented. Modern, spacious, light and airy.
The house is located within a couple of minutes walk of the lovely town of Bovec with its numerous restaurants, bars and shops. Easy access to the surrounding beautiful countryside, and as we are keen kayakers the stunning Soca river is only minutes away by car.
The accommodation is sited in a small, quiet cul de sac off the main High Street with off road parking. The house comprises of 4 spacious double bedrooms over 3 floors with 3 bathrooms / shower rooms, huge lounge/ dining area, fully fitted out kitchen (with dishwasher, microwave, oven, grill, hob, fridge/freezer, crockery and pans galore) and vital for skiers / kayakers - a drying room for the kit.
The layout was ideal for our party - myself, wife and teenage son (19) and 2 kayaking friends - there was sufficient room for everyone to have their own space if they wanted it, but equally designed to be a social place at meal times. Our favourite room was the lounge, with its leather settees and arm chairs, rustic dining table and the fabulous window sill you could sit on with the huge windows open taking in the late afternoon sun.
Decor is light & modern and the property immaculately presented, providing you with all the creature comforts of your own home. It felt like you had just moved into some elses' home rather than a bland, soulless holiday let.
The property owner who lives in the UK could not have been more helpful running up to our holiday, the local property manager Dragan (and his family) were always on hand if you ever needed help or local advice and the neighbours were very friendly - so much so that we were invited to a birthday party whilst we were there !
If you like the outdoors then Bovec is definitely a place to visit. We went paragliding whilst we were there and there are numerous other adventurous activities to take part in including cycle hire, all bookable from the town centre. The walking is simply stunning with an abundance of waterfalls to explore.
So as the 5 of us flew back out of Ljubljana airport bidding temporary farewell to a lovely part of the world, the question was "would we return to this property - the resounding answer was "YES" most definitely.
Fabulous, comfortable family accomodation
Situated around 500mtrs from the centre of Bovec this comfortable , modern and very well maintained chalet offered 1st class family accomodation which is accessible to more and varied activities for the family, than you could possibly fulfill in one visit
Bovec is in the North-West of Slovenia close to the borders for Italy and Austria and being only a small country the Adriatic coast is only 100 kilometres to the South - about 2 hours drive, well worth making a trip there for a great day out
Bovec is approx 90 minutes from three airports - Ljubljana, Trieste and Klagenfurt. Also, it is under 3 hours from Venice and Graz airports. To make the most of the available activities car hire is recommended and is available from all airports, it is also available from the nearby town of Kobarid. We can arrange transfers for you to Bovec from any of these airports if required: this will incur an extra fee. Most tourist and transports can be provided by our house manager. You are in good hands!
Being in the Triglav National Park, there is a fantastic range of activities right on the doorstep. The stunning River Soca runs through the park and there are also many places of interest to visit nearby. There is a museum dedicated to the 1st World War in Kobarid: 15 mins drive. The world famous Skocjan caves are less than 2 hours away and the town of Bled with its stunning lakeside location can be reached by a combination of road and the old 'through mountain' motorail ... in about 90 mins.
This is an area of outstanding natural beauty: it is very popular for walking holidays, not just in summer but spring and autumn is still very warm with wonderful unspoilt scenery to explore. Bovec also offers some spectacular Mountain biking. Bikes can be taken up the 'year round' ski-lift that and cycled back to the village by a variety of forest trails. They can be rented locally and are sensibly priced. There is first class fly-fishing in the crystal clear Soca which has trout, grayling and the famous marbled trout which can grow up to 20kgs! Licences and passes can be purchased in the town. River sports include white-water rafting, kayaking and canyoning, all of which can be arranged in the town. Paragliding is also popular and available locally. Horse-riding is also available locally, however a drive of less than 2 hours will take you to the world famous Lipica stud and riding school with its dancing Lipizzaner horses. Bovec has several good restaurants serving delicious local food and great wines. There are shops for all your general requirements. There is a bank, pharmacy, hairdressers and a garage.
