The location is particularly suited to familites or to Golf or Surfing enthusiasts who want a central base to sample what Ireland North West has to offer. A major attraction is the very popular Beach Bar, an authentic old world pub/restaurant which is only 5 minutes walk from the house.

Downstairs is open-plan - dining room leads to patio which is a real sun trap with lovely mountain views.

Large sitting room with comfortable 3-2-1 and lovely fireplace.

1 single bedroom downstairs beside WC.

Upstairs 1 double en-suite, 1 double beside main bathroom and 1 twin (double and single bed).

En-suite bathroom has electric shower. Main bathroom has bath with over-bath shower.

About Sheila McDermott

We are a family of 4, living on a working farm in Sligo.

We have been happily involved in the Self Catering business since 2006 with our very popular Beach House in Aughris. In 2012 we bought and renovated another property The Snug in Dunkineely, South Donegal, for our own use and also as a Holiday Let.

Both properties are in wonderful locations on the Wild Atlantic Way.

Why Sheila McDermott chose Ireland

We purpose-built the house with separate annex for self-catering in 2006 because we know that it is situated in a fantastic location, beside the sea with lovely sandy beaches as well as the ever-popular Beach Bar.This is an area of outstanding natural beauty. The location is truly a walkers paradise. Many of our guests are families that bring their pets and spend their days on the many sandy beaches around. Aughris is ideally located for people wanting to explore the North West of Ireland. Some guests do day trips, maybe Donegal one day, Achill the next with some R&R in between. Others spent their time walking, fishing, surfing or golfing in the different hotspots around (Enniscrone, Strandhill, Rosses Point).

What makes this house unique

The house is just two minutes walk to 2 miles of sandy beaches. A five minute walk takes you to the very popular Beach Bar so you don't have to worry about transport. The Restaurant at the Beach Bar is open at weekends and nightly in High Season and is very popular with our guests.

The pub is open all year around with entertainment in high season.

This is an authentic old-world thatched pub and we are very fortunate to have such a popular establishment so close the the Beach House.

Wonderful property located off the water...comfortable 4 BR in excellent condition

We arrived at Aughris Head, Co. Sligo, 4 senior golfers each desiring a comfortable bedroom, and were surprised to fine such nice accommodations, including two 1/2 baths, one bedroom downstairs and 3 up, one with ensuite bath. Living room had very comfortable leather couch and chairs which all reclined. Nice large dining area and large kitchen with dining. We didn't mind at all that there was no sea view, as it was close, within 3 blocks of the beach nestled into farm land. We enjoyed the livestock as well.

This is a great place to stay for 4 golfers, centrally located among 5 fine links golf courses, Carne, Enniscrone, Strandhill, Co. Sligo, and Donegal G.C. And nearby is the inimitable Beach Bar, serving from 1 to 8 pm, singing sometimes in the bar....and you gotta love the friendliness of the Irish. They're the best!

Very good price for the fine accommodations, with fuel costs extra at end of the stay, about 93 Euros for a week. From N59, take 6206, then take the turn west to the Beach House sign, then North on the narrow road, about a mile, to the Beach House. Thanks, Sheila!!

Fantastic location, lovely house.

We spent a very relaxing week in the Aughris Beachhouse. The house was ver=y roomy and comfortable. Sheila, the owner was very helpful and obliging if we had any queries. The location was beautiful with the beach literally at the end of the road a short walk away, as was the Beach Bar with good food and good service.

Beautifully situated holiday home. House has everything you need for a self catering holiday.

Owner supplied good directions so we found the property easily.

We travelled as a party of 6 and the house had plenty of room for everyone.

Can not recommended the location of the property enough, the beach is a stones throw away which the kids loved, we saw lots of beach wildlife and even had a hare in the garden.

The beach bar is also a must visit, the food and hospitality are both excellent.

I will definitely be returning.

Great location, well equipped large house

The extended family stayed here for five days over the new year. The location is second to none with the beach a few minutes walk away and the amazing Beach Bar within walking distance too. Couldn't ask for more. The house itself was big enough for the seven of us to live comfortably. The kitchen had everything we needed. All in all, couldn't ask for more.

Family stayed at this beautiful house for a short break as a surprise for my wife's birthday. It is brilliant! The scenery is stunning and just a few minutes to the beach and a short walk to the Beach Bar where they serve very good meals. The house has everything you need for a home from home holiday. We'll be back for more of this lovely place.

Couples or groups of 4 or less might like an opportunity to explore both Sligo and Donegal during your holiday. If so then ( subject to availability ) you can split your holiday between the "Beach House" at Aughris and "The Snug" at Dunkineely.

The 2-bed house at Dunkineely sleeps 4, it is also a coastal property. For more details on The Snug, see Owners Direct property ref IR616.

Coast/Beach:

2 minutes walk to the nearest sandy beach. Most families with young children stay there. For walkers you can continue your walk from there to beautiful Dunmoran beach or to the scenic fenced in walkway at Aughris Head.

For surfers, it is 10 miles to Easkey, although many surf at Aughris or at nearby Trawee beach

Travel:

Knock Airport - 30 miles. Ryanair continue to add more routes from Knock to UK, France, Germany and Spain.

Dublin Airport - 120 miles.

A car is essential here - for going to the shop etc.

All guests walk to the Beach Bar as its just a short stroll across the beach or laneway.

Distances:

Shop with groceries/petrol - 3 miles.

Templeboy village with Church. Shop/post office - 4 miles.

Dromore West Village - Shops, ATM, Butcher, Chinese takeaway, pharmacy - 5 miles.

Sligo/Ballina towns both 15 miles in opposite directions.

Further Details:

This is an ideal location of people who want a quiet, scenic, coastal location with a good range of activities. There are great shoreline or hill walks nearby.

Surfing at Easkey is highly recommended. Many guests do the 30 minute walk to the top of Knocknarea mountain for panoramic views. Fishing for Mackerel at Augrhis Head or go deep Sea fishing from Enniscrone. Boat trips to Inismurray Island. Visit caves, tombs, megalithic sites. Sligo-Way walkways.

Enjoy an evening in by an open fire or stroll across to the Beach Bar and sample some excellent Guinness!

Booking Notes:
A deposit of 100 euros or £100 by cheque or account transfer is required to confirm booking, with remainer due 1 month before arrival date.
There are no extras for the Annex, for the main house oil and electricity are extras and are charged the same amount per unit as we are billed.

Changeover Day:
Changeover day is Saturday in July/August. We are fllexible the rest of the year. We are flexible about arrival and departure times unless somebody is coming immediately after you. No extra charge for weekend guests staying to Monday.

Main House
€800 (£580 ) per week July/August. €500 (£360) per week rest of year.

Notes:
Notes on accommodation: Oil fired central heating. Solid fuel stove also integrated to heating system. An open fire in the Sitting room makes it very cosy in Winter. There is a travel cot, high chair and lots of toys and books. Outside the garden is fenced in with a tarmacadam drive. The location is ideal for children/pets. Outside: There is a large fenced in garden. Separate patio area for house and annex with tables/chairs and BBQ. The patio has beautiful views and is a sun trap even when it is cold elsewhere.
