Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Mary

It's hard to write everything in the guest book but we were absolutely delighted with your cottage. The attention to detail you give with regard to the items which you are not obligated to provide made all the difference. Washing up items, tea and coffee making, the fire made up, extra towels and even a spare tooth brush. We would love to come back again and have told all our friends and family how lovely it was.

Thank you again!

The delightful village of Longnor is an excellent base for exploring the Peak District and if you didn't have time to sample all the excellent local amenities including the local stores, pubs, coffee shops and fish and chip shop, perhaps you will on a return trip! Till next time!

Absolutely Amazing Little Gem

  • 5 of 5

Fabulous cottage with every amenity possible, Mary had thought of everything. Everything was comfortable, clean and extremely warm and cosy. Weather was good so didn't get the chance to have a log fire, maybe next time around. Great walk information and the visitors book is great for information as well. The village was a super friendly village with good eating places, ye old cheese pub great food. Would definitely stay again.

Delightful cottage with lovely atmosphere

  • 4 of 5

Charming and helpful owner, pretty cottage and easy walk to pub for meals - and we got to bring our dog! Spent two nights here for our wedding anniversary and it was great. Wine and biscuits left for us and kitchen well equipped. Bed comfy and had a relaxing break. Cottage restored with sensitivity so it easy to imagine the original family who may have lived there and the life they led. Thoroughly recommend Jack's Cottage!

Great stay in village-cottage

  • 4 of 5

A very nice cottage, that delivers everything as promised. Well-maintained, everything available and in perfect working order, clean. The only amenity we missed was a bit of internet access, but being on holiday this was maybe for the best. Great bedroom and bed, smart bathroom with rustic creaking floorboards - nice touch!

Longnor is a nice little town, in fact smaller than we thought. The local convenience store offers everything you would want for your daily breakfast or lunch. Nice tearoom.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review Jack's Cottage. I'm delighted Jack's Cottage met your expectations and you enjoyed your stay in the Peak District. We try to ensure our website truly reflects the cottage our visitors experience, but the question of wi-fi is a difficult one. Fortunately both the pub and tea shop in the village provide free access for those who really need it, but we will keep your comments in mind should we review our decision. With best wishes, Mary.

Beautiful cottage!

  • 5 of 5

I loved staying here, it was such an escape from everything. It was such a relief to have no wifi. The village had everything I needed (including the cheapest firewood I found in the area for when the evening got cold). The cottage is so comfortable, clean and well decorated but hasn't lost the original features or feeling. The walks around the area are beautiful - especially when the lambs are about. Manchester is a short trip into Buxton and then 50 mins on the train if you want to get into the city. It's idyllic. I couldn't recommend this place enough.

Whilst you enjoyed the lack of wi-fi in the cottage, the local pub and tea room both have free wifi if you really need it! With best wishes, Mary.
