Located in the heart of historic Dartmouth on a level position, our 2nd floor apartment is only a few yards away from the Embankment overlooking the stunning Dart Estuary. Situated above the Canoe section of the Royal Dartmouth Yacht Club, 'Rockferry' has 3 good sized bedrooms and newly fitted kitchen & bathroom. An array of individual shops & excellent restaurants are on the doorstep with Dartmouth Castle only a 15 min walk or a 10 min ferry ride away. The local beaches at 'Castle Cove' and 'Sugary Cove' are within a 15 min walk/10 min ride on the Castle Ferry or 5 mins by car, the beautiful Blackpool Sands and Slapton Beach are within 15-20 mins by car whilst you can explore the Dart Estuary and it's stunning villages by boat or on foot as well as the fantastic towns (Totnes/Kingsbridge/Salcombe) in the South Hams and further afield.

About Claire Kettle

I live with my husband and my 14 yr old son in a small village near York. Although I am from Yorkshire, my husband originates from Devon where he was brought up we still have family in the area so over the years we have been regular visitors to this beautiful part of the country. Dartmouth is our favourite place to relax and enjoy time with family and friends.

Why Claire Kettle chose South Hams

As a family we love many parts of the South West of England but we have fallen in love with Dartmouth. With it's historic background and superb position at the mouth of the River Dart it appeals to us in a variety of ways. There are plenty of fine bistros, bars and restaurants amongst the winding streets and an array of specialist shops. The Estuary is a delight at any time of year where there is always some activity on the water whether its boats cruising down to Totnes, Ferrys taking visitors to Kinsgwear or simply people sitting on the Embankment watching children crabbing for the afternoon. It is a town with plenty to offer without having to use a car, however there are many attractions within a 20 mile radius so a car is useful to keep most visitors happy.

Our apartment is in the heart of Dartmouth on the level only one street away from the Estuary. It is spacious and well presented. A real home from home.

Notes on accommodation: The property is a no smoking property and no pets are allowed. Children of all ages welcome. A cot and high chair can be provided at an extra cost. Tea, Coffee, Sugar and all cleaning products are provided. There is no parking space however there is on street parking for loading / unloading. A free parking permit is provided to all guests which can be used in the main car park (5 mins walk away). We also provide a free park & ride pass for use during busy periods. The Park & Ride is located 2 mins drive and runs every 10 mins. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Towels and linen are included and the apartment is cleaned weekly. Other: Landing storage cupboard & coat rack.

Cracking place to stay in a wonderful town!

Really enjoyed our stay at Rock Ferry. Apartment is perfectly placed and has everything - and more - than you need. Dartmouth is such a buzzing little town and being smack bang in the middle of it (as you are when you stay at Rick Ferry) is awesome. Nipping out for the shops or for fish & chips or for a spot of crabbing is so easy. And then coming home to such a comfortable, spacious, and well-equipped rental property is just brill. Thank you very much.

Very good location, comfortable apartment.

Just had another lovely stay in Dartmouth. This spacious apartment is very convenient for the town and right opposite the famous Alf Fresco if you want to eat out for breakfast or lunch. Despite being central, it's not noisy during the night. The apartment is in good condition and supplied with all the kit you need for your stay. This was our second stay, we'll be back and I would recommend it.

Comfortable home from home amidst the delights of Dartmouth.

A clean and comfortable apartment, well furnished, with everything needed to hand. An excellent base to explore Dartmouth and the surrounding areas. We parked the car in the central car park and forgot about it for most of our stay. There are so many walks, boat trips and a steam railway line to keep you as busy as you want to be. Our teenagers enjoyed crabbing, mackerel fishing, and kayaking with Tim from the canoe club below the apartment. We had some lovely meals out locally, but also cooked meals ourselves in the modern well equipped kitchen.

I would definitely recommend this property to families with children of all ages. This is our fourth visit and we are already planning outings for next time.

Lovely week in Dartmouth. Apartment is well equipped, clean and in a great central location for Dartmouth and surrounding Devon countryside. Lots to see and do, even with the three older teenagers and warm but not very sunny weather.

excellent apartment near the waterside

We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay in Dartmouth at this lovely apartment. Everything was clean, fresh, and stylish. My wife commented numerous times on Claire's great taste in decorating. Our kids liked having a bedroom each and took full advantage of the fast, reliable wifi. The use of the parking permit was greatly appreciated - the car park was only about 400 yards away, and it was easy enough to load/unload our car right outside the apartment. We highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting Dartmouth. We had a wonderful stay.

The famous blue flag beach - Blackpool Sands is only 15 mins drive away with a super cafe/restaurant. Slapton Sands offering a 3 mile stretch of pebble beach is a further 5 mins away whilst Dartmouth itself boasts two small coves (Castle Cove & Sugary Cove) close to the Castle within a 15 min walk. Bigbury on Sea beach is a sandy beach within an area of outstanding natural beauty just over 30 mins drive.


Totnes is the nearest railway station which is approx 12 miles from Dartmouth. There is a good hourly bus service to Dartmouth from Totnes. Exeter is the nearest airport (1 hour) but it is a good idea to have a car to enjoy the many wonderful places in the surrounding area.


Within a 1 min walk you can catch a ferry from the Embankment over to Kingswear (5 min ferry ride) & the famous Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway. There are also ferry's to Dartmouth Castle, the pretty village of Dittisham, 'Greenways' the home of Agatha Christie and a variety of other trips up the Dart Estuary. There are many beautiful villages within a 20 mile radius and numerous stunning walks in the area.
