Beautiful house, in spacious, peaceful grounds
We stayed at Casa Crescina with three friends and all agreed that the house and grounds were beautiful. We had some pool days of non-stop sunshine, and some days were cooler, with interesting clouds and mist rising from the river below us. The house is quite isolated and, consequently, very private and quiet. Everything is provided for a very comfortable stay. We loved the "Welcome Basket", and, in addition, there were other basics in the cupboards, which helped with our food preparation. Beds are comfortable, showers hot, and all rooms are beautifully decorated and appointed. The driveway is a bit daunting at first, but becomes easier as each day goes on. Once we discovered the Carrefour in Gragnola we had no problem with shopping. The shop in Monzone is a little limited, but good for emergencies. Our day trip to Lerici was lovely (about an hour away -
you have to park in one of the parking lots and walk to the harbor, but it's not too bad.) You can also take the ferry from Lerici to the Cinque Terre, via Portovenere, which we did. It was an easy day out. We also took the train to Lucca from Monzone one day. Takes about 1.5 hours, but a comfortable and interesting ride - only about 8 Euros each way. Lucca is worth a visit. The pool area at Casa Crescina is fabulous. Pool is refreshing, poolside furniture comfortable, and all so private. Claudia and Angelo are available to help if you need anything. Altogether a lovely week spent in an area we have never been to, nor thought about, before - Lunigiana, very untouristy, very natural, very Italian. Not much English spoken, but everyone friendly and fun to communicate with. Excellent communication with owner throughout the booking process. Great directions, information, and recommendations. We thoroughly recommend Casa Crescina.
We returned to the property some 13 yrs from our first visit. Previous memories did not disappoint in any way. From the superb vistas across the valleys to myriad seating areas around the property and gardens enabling one to enjoy the property throughout the day The wonderfully appointed pool , new since our last visit ,was a delight to cool off from the Italian sunshine and equipped with comfy sun loungers The Alfresco dining areas were perfect for eating outside and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere , only interrupted by the occasional chimes of the local village churches.
The property had everything on offer from utensils to laundry fascilities etc to enjoy a home from home experiance.
There are plenty of oppertunities to walk the many scenic paths nearby in addition to beautiful ancient forts and towns just a short drive away. All up there was simply nothing to complain about .
We will return without doubt. Thankyou to Gaynor and Edward the owners for such a wonderful holiday......
Wonderful Italian experience.
We stayed at Casa Crescino for 2 weeks in July 2017. We had a fantastic time there in a delightful stone country cottage in a superb location. The house was spotless , well laid out and very spacious. The main rooms and the bedrooms overlook the valley with glimpses of hillside villages and church towers. The house and wonderful pool are totally private and there are loads of quiet secluded spots to have a drink, read and watch the sun go down over the mountains. The housekeepers Claudia and Angelo were excellent and we arrived quite late and in the dark and the lights were left on for us together with a comprehensive arrival hamper. We travelled about quite a lot we would recommend getting the train from La Spezia along the coastline visiting the Cinque Terre, we got off at Vernazza and hired a small motorboat for 1/2 a day which was a perfect way to spend the day. The owner Ed, was helpful throughout with excellent communication. The house is a home from home with lots of books, games good wi fi, and we
thoroughly recommend this property.
Many thanks for your review, great to hear that you had such a good time.
Charming villa in a stunning location
We have just arrived back from this beautiful villa where we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. It is set in the valley looking out onto the most majestic mountains I have ever seen. The scenery is simply stunning. The house is charming and the pool is kept spotlessly clean. Our 3 boys swam every single day and loved it. Perfect location to explore the Cinque Terre, Viareggio and Modena amongst others. The local restaurant Da Remo in Monzone is a must and the antipasti is amazing!
The perfect haven in a stunning location!
It took us a while to come down to earth after a most wonderful 4 weeks in this beautiful house. Our special holiday was so perfect and exceeded all our expectations, thanks to being able to stay in a fabulous location and more importantly, such a comfortable and lovely home. We feel very privileged to have stayed at Casa Crescino, set in the most stunning location, with fantastic wildlife, fabulous pool and breathtaking views from every window! Every home comfort has been thought about, which meant it is more than just a base and it was so lovely spend time there on our less adventurous days. Just minutes from Monzone, with excellent train links, the location is ideal for exploring everything from the fabulous coastline of Cinque Terre, to the Tuscan hills and Lucca.. The most perfect place to relax and unwind - we cannot wait to return!
Our family of five enjoyed an extremely peaceful and relaxing holiday at the wonderful Casa Crescino.
The location is superb, and villa is beautiful. It's the perfect place to unwind, and to enjoy fantastic scenery from the extensive grounds of the villa, and the extremely clean and well maintained pool.

The little known region of Tuscany which borders onto Liguria is the Lunigiana, known for the beauty of its mountains and old fashioned pace of life. Extending from the Apennines to the mouth of the Magra river, the Lunigiana is rich in medieval history: castles, Romanesque churches and ancient villages of extraordinary beauty dot the landscape. The property is set in a quiet hillside location between the villages of Monzone and Mezzana. Monzone has a range of local shops including a bakers, butchers and two small supermarkets. There are a number of good local restaurants in both villages and in the nearby town of Equi Terme.
