A great place to relax and enjoy rural Brittany
Our second visit to Malvran proved just as good as our first. We had a much needed and very relaxing break soaking up the sun and the French way of life. Pat and Keith could not be better hosts: they are so kind and friendly and could not have been more helpful.
This is an outstanding gite in a beautiful part of Brittany with lots to do both at the gite (swimming in the lovely heated pool, tennis, walking round the extensive gardens) and close by (lake, way-marked trails through the amazing forest, cycling along the Nantes-Brest canal tow path). Lots of delightful French villages within a few miles and some superb eating places close by too. We made day trips to Pontivy, Dinan, St Brieuc and the beaches of Northern Brittany but were just as happy collecting our baguettes in the morning and having a great day by the pool with a walk through the forest in the early evening.
We love this gite so much that we will be returning again next year!
Thank you very much for your kind comments, the year will fly by, see you 2016
Beautiful property in a beautiful setting
This was our third summer holiday at the gite and was every bit as relaxing and enjoyable as the previous visits. We spent a week with our two young children (1 and 3) and two friends who also have a young daughter (3). Keith and Pat provide wonderful and friendly customer service, keeping every aspect of the property impeccably clean and always happy to talk and provide any information you might need on the local area.
The house itself is thoughtfully furnished and spacious with a large living spaces and bedrooms. The old stone construction means it stays lovely and cool inside on hot days.
The grounds are huge and very well maintained - there is plenty for children to explore and the gate to the (very quiet) road can be shut. There is also ample space to sit, eat and drink outside around the front of the gite and pool area which with the fine weather we were lucky to use every day. The tennis court and games room are excellent and the pool is impeccably maintained every day by Keith and kept at a lovely temperature for both children and adults to enjoy.
The main attraction in this peaceful and tranquil area is the huge lake/reservoir. It's a downhill 2km walk from the gite through the woods to the many paths around the lake edge - and there is a nice artificial beach a 5 minute drive away with a restaurant and water-sports rentals. There are a huge number of other attractions a slightly longer drive away.
Overall thoroughly recommended for a relaxing stay in a beautiful part of the world.
We have just returned from a wonderful holiday.
We have had the pleasure of staying for the past week and the accommodation is equipped to the highest standard with everything we should need. The pool is immaculate and we spent a lot of time with our toddler in and out of the water and wandering the beautiful grounds.
The owners have made the Gite a home from home. It is the perfect getaway set within a beautiful part of France. We hope to go back next year.
It was really great meeting you and your lovely family so pleased you enjoyed your stay we most certainly look forward to see you again next year, K & P
We are a family of four (2 children aged 6 & 8) and had a two week holiday at the Gite. From the moment we arrived we were not disappointed. The actual Gite is spacious, very clean and very authentic some parts dating back to 16th century. It is decorated and furnished to a very high standard in traditional furniture. It is equipped like a home from home. Fabulous welcome basket with lots of goodies. Light airy bedrooms with comfy beds all made up with excellent quality bedding.
The grounds are something else - large mature garden areas on different levels all beautifully tended, masses of flowering hanging baskets, full sized clay tennis court (all equipment supplied), covered outside eating area, fantastic pool with child safety fence, childrens play area, full size boules pitch, sun loungers, games room and utility area with washing machine and tumble dryer.
The owners Pat & Keith are there on hand and nothing is too much trouble from asking where the local supermarket is to having an aperitif with them on a balmy summer evening. There is lots in the area to do and see from beaches, lakes, great restaurants, bars and fabulous medieval towns to wander round.
Looking forward to a return visit.
Thank you very much for you kind comments, it was lovely meeting you and family so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us, looking forward to your next visit
