We are a family of 5 that loves London and fell in love with the Royal Arsenal and its rich history when we stayed as holidaymakers!! We have lived and worked in London but have also spent time living and working abroad as both children and adults. We enjoy sharing our home with guests from all over the world--many from countries in which we have lived...along with helping fellow Brits enjoy their Capital City or attend special events or family gatherings.
Andrea and Tim purchased this apartment in 2010
Easy & Fun Transport Anywhere in London by Thames Clipper, DLR or Train!
The Royal Arsenal provides the unique experience of living a modern life in surroundings where the entire history of the United Kingdom has evolved...and much of the world! The view and ambiance created by the flat's positioning, outlook and period features makes staying here a one-of-a-kind experience. You can stay in 'new build' anywhere but no other location in London affords the opportunity to stay in a place that influenced the history of the world in such a profound way.
English Heritage says the Royal Arsenal is one of London's most important historic sites.
"The rockets red glare...." & the Victoria Medal Cannons can be seen at the Firepower Museum.
The friendly and authentic welcome of the East
One-of-a-kind experience and location with so many transport options to hand. Our view of the Thames and historic Royal Arsenal buildings, within the gated 'golden square,' and the ambiance and spaciousness of flat are unique within both the Royal Arsenal and London.
It's the type of place that makes you want to just stay 'home', play games and watch movies together. My husband and I love to sit at the table in the morning with the sun streaming in and read the paper while looking out over the courtyard and the amazing history that surrounds us. The kids love that there is enough room to play Twister, watch movies or retreat to their own spaces with their electronic devices.
The travel links are superb to ANYWHERE in London-DLR/Tube, Train, Thames Clipper, London City Airport &
"Apartment was lovely and had everything we needed. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Royal Arsenal was very peaceful, the Thames Clipper was the perfect way to travel. We'll be back." Wolverhampton
"Fantastic visit, wonderful place to stay. Your home was perfect for our family--full of wonderful touches to make us feel welcome. Thanks especially for all of the helpful hints and guides." Germany
"My family of 4 big boys, my wife and I had a great time in this lovely apartment. A real home from home with a warm and friendly atmosphere. Easy access to everywhere." Spain
"Our holiday was perfect in this wonderful flat. It had everything we needed and more- and was in such a charming development that we didn't want to leave each day to sight-see. The flat was truly a perfect combination of luxury and comfort. Part of the charm of London is the juxtaposition of old and new; our stay in this flat was exactly that." Philadelphia
The flat was brilliant, we were two couples wanting to be tourists in our capital city. The first night we mooched round Woolwich town centre, finding our bearings. The next day on the Thames clipper into London for a full day seeing as much as we could, took about 50 minutes by Boat to the London Eye. After a full day out and about in London we then returned to the lovely flat by Boat as dusk came, opportunity for great pictures of the London skyline lit up. On initial arrival we found the flat easily with the help of Fran who showed us around and how things worked, it was beautifully furnished, very clean, had everything we needed and more, beds so comfy too. Andrea was most helpful returning email questions quickly, plus deposit returned promptly once cleaner had been in to check. Would recommend this flat to anyone, thanks for sharing your lovely home with us :-)
We have just returned from our second very enjoyable stay at the apartment. Thank you so much. It is like a home from home. It is so convenient for Excel and also we enjoyed occasionally getting the Thames clipper – an excellent way to see London. As a lover of history it is especially interesting to stay in a building that was once part of the original Arsenal site. I spent the final day of my stay exploring the Tower of London. It was great to walk around such a historic setting, to see the very place where Anne Boleyn was executed and to study graffiti left in the Beauchamp Tower carved by Tudor prisoners in the 1500s – wonderful!
Together with our two teenagers, we have enjoyed another wonderful few days in this lovely flat, having stayed previously 18 months ago! It is an excellent base from which to explore London; this time we chose to take the DLR in to the City centre which was both quick and really scenic. Previously, we have taken the Thames Clipper from the pier just outside the gated Royal Arsenal complex and only a short walk from the flat. It too is an easy and efficient way to get into the City centre with lovely views along the river.
We left our car in the flat's dedicated car-parking space and could then relax knowing it was securely parked and no car parking fees to worry about!
We found the flat to be a veritable "home from home": luxurious, comfortable, well-equipped and with all imaginable mod cons. The owners have left a fantastic assortment of books, both fiction and reference/guidebooks, which we all dipped into. There were also many games and DVDs.
The Royal Arsenal is a fascinating area and the flat offers a wonderful view over the historic buildings as well as the river. We were so busy this time that we didn't return to the 'Firepower' Royal Artillery museum on the complex which we had already visited and wanted to revisit- maybe next time?!
The flat itself is particularly quiet (lovely!), bright and spacious; we love coming here and are already looking forward to our next visit.......
Many thanks Andrea and Tim!

Royal Arsenal Riverside History: In 1512, Henry VIII established a Royal Dockyard at Woolwich. His largest warship, the Great Harry was launched here in 1514. The Arsenal, originally known as The Warren, was established as an Ordnance Storage Depot in 1671. Royal Laboratories were added in 1696 and the Royal Brass Foundry in 1715. In 1716 Royal Artillery companies formed by Royal Warrant. The Royal Military Academy (which has become Sandhurst) originated at the Arsenal in 1720. In 1805, King George III decreed The Warren be known as the "Royal Arsenal". By this time, Woolwich was already a busy military centre. Many of the Arsenal's original buildings remain (this apartment is located in one of them), and historic artifacts, cannons and modern art installations are found throughout the site. The Royal Arsenal carried out armaments manufacture and explosives research for the British armed forces until it was decommissioned in 1967. All Victoria Cross medals are struck from Guns residing at the Firepower Museum.
