Inverness Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 1 Bedroom, 1 bath, (Sleeps 1-2), Tomales Bay view

Pass through the Inverness Secret Garden Cottage gate into an enchanting world of sensuous delight. The mountain trails, wilderness, and ocean beaches of Point Reyes National Seashore are only minutes away. The Secret Garden Cottage is a unique bed and breakfast retreat, where cares fall away and dreaming is encouraged.

The one-bedroom, one-bath, bay view, craftsman-style cottage is nestled in its own private garden amidst six acres of forest. Curl up in front of the Vermont Castings fireplace for a romantic evening, or slip outside for a hot soak in the claw-foot tub set in the garden bath house. Seclusion and solitude are yours to enjoy.

“Quality and attention to detail - the best kept "Secret"”

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2015

I confess, I really didn't want to add this review; since in so doing I possibly lessen our chances of getting a room next time! It's a lovely, lovely cottage with Patsy and Phil's attention to detail that really makes a difference. Read the other reviews, see the photos, all true. What stood out for me were the extra touches -- makeup remover pads (yay!), locally sourced breakfast products (Pete's coffee, Clover Farms milk, half/half, orange juice), the crab apples - great in our yoghurt (we brought that along - the breakfasts are more suited to milk/cereal types, but the pantry is full of choice). There are great music CDs, an ipad/phone dock (bring a dock converter if you are > iphone 4). We enjoyed some lovely tango music on CD - and will purchase our own copy. The owners stay a respectful distance but check in to see that all is ok. The cottage is immaculate. Views and surroundings lush and just perfect. I enjoyed an outside tubby bath and they supply outside-tubby cleaning products (again, a very clean cottage - and appreciated for that). We also appreciated the collection jar for the local Marin/Point Reyes Seashore fund. And that they compost and are very green. The only suggestion I would make for those of you who like a very soft/feather down pillow is, bring yours with you. The linen is exceptional, but doesn't feature a down pillow if you prefer that.

We've stayed in many B&Bs and luxury places and this "secret" is the BEST. Worthy of a first place ranking. Thank you!

superb vacation rental experience

  • 5 of 5

This was one of our best experiences utilizing VRBO. Phil and Patsy were great hosts, providing important information about our stay, and allowing us to enjoy the serenity of this special vacation home. The cottage was spotless, we appreciated the hardwood floors, and the abundance of light from the windows. The gardens were spectacular, the view of Tomales Bay was a treat, and listening to the fountain at night was a nice touch to enhance the ambience.

Thank you for sharing the Secret Garden Cottage!

Bob and Christine

Truely IS a hidden jewel

  • 5 of 5

The Secret Garden Cottage was wonderful, clean and quant. The place was emaculate. The gardens beautiful. The hosts very helpful. They thought of everything! There is hiking right there from the property, great restaurants close by and a nice view of the bay. We loved the location and very much enjoyed our stay. We hope to make it back again someday. Wonderful Getaway for Two

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent 2 nights at this cottage. We have stayed in several rental properties in this area, and this is one of the best. It is exactly as advertised. Very clean and comfortable. The setting is beautiful and the gardens are a special treat. The owners have thought of everything and have provided good instructions as to how to use all the features of the cottage. We would definitely stay there again.

Garden Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Immaculately kept cottage with exquisite gardens. If you love gardens and hiking, it would be hard to beat this place. Phil is a most knowledgeable and gracious host. We appreciated his excellent advice on hiking and running trails. Don't pass up a soak in the the outdoor tub. Next time we'll stay for a week.

Paradise Found

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cottage. It was clearly built and designed with lots of love. It is immaculate and comfortable and cozy and well located. The gardens are magnificent and tended with lots of care. We don't usually hang out in a dwelling, but this place was so wonderful, we hardly wanted to leave. It was a perfect match for the scenery and hiking at Pt Reyes.

Phil was a great and caring concierge and host, and he provided great suggestions for hikes and food spots.

We'll return, for sure!
