Chalet in Les Gets, Portes du Soleil, French Alps - Minutes walk away from ski lifts and Les Gets village

Chalet Nouveau is a very comfortable well equipped chalet offering a great base from which to enjoy the Portes du Soleil. The area offers excellent skiing and winter sports including ice skating and telemark as well as summer activities such as walking, cycling, golf and tennis. The village has a beautiful swimming lake in the summer and a high wire adventure park and horse riding. Les Gets is a pretty traditional Savoyard village and from the chalet you can walk to all of the shops bars and restaurants as well as the ski lifts.

We live in the UK with our two children and visit Les Gets in the summer and the winter as often as we can.

We bought Chalet Nouveau from new in autumn 2003 and have watched the ongoing investment in the resort of Les Gets and its growing popularity year on year.

Why Lisa New chose Les Gets

We had previously skied in Morzine and thought that was where we wanted to buy a chalet but then we discovered Les Gets which is a smaller village with everything within walking distance. We love Les Gets because there is so much to do in the area in both the winter and summer. In the winter you are in a family ski resort with lots of restaurants and shops and in the summer the village is buzzing with mountain bikers, walkers and golfers. The village also has a swimming lake with stunning views and the ski lifts are open in the summer for bikers and walkers to enjoy the wildlife and scenery.

What makes this chalet unique

The chalet is part of a small complex of modern apartments. It has three double/twin en-suite bedrooms. A spacious kitchen/living area with a large balcony, a garage for storing equipment and lots of parking at the front. The log fire is great in the winter but we also use it on chilly summer evenings. You can walk to the lifts and village in minutes. In the summer you can walk to the tennis courts which which we love doing in the evening as the view of the sun setting on the mountains is beautiful.

Outside: The chalet has a number of balconies but no private garden however there is a shared grass area at the front which is great for children to play on as well as for picnics. Utility Room: There is a washing machine in the garage as well as drying lines. The garage also holds a large store of logs for you to use for the fire. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Bed linen and towels are not included but can be provided at an additional cost of £20 per person. Cleaning is not included but can also be arranged for £40. Other: Dining area with table and chairs plus a high chair if required.

This chalet was just perfect; the accomodation is excellent and to a high standard. The location in relation to Les Gets is perfect, and access around the region in summer is easy and enjoyable. Les Gets is a wonderful base for a family holiday.

Les Gets is less than an hour away from Geneva airport. If you are hiring a car from the airport it is recommended that you do so from the Swiss side. You can also catch the Autobus from the airport to the village in the ski season.

Les Gets is about eight hours or 550 miles from Calais.
