Il Forno, originally the old bakehouse, is a two storey stone cottage dating from 1743. It still has the original, terracotta pizza oven in the sitting room. The house is shaded by a large, productive fig tree.
Upstairs, the pretty sitting room has a wood burning stove, antique furniture and a TV to view a selection of DVDs. The small kitchen has an oven and a small fridge.
Downstairs you'll find a double bedroom with a metal, four poster bed from Designer's Guild, as well as a shower room. The bedroom has double doors onto the private, outside terrace, which will allow you to enjoy extensive views over the valley from your bed!
The terrace has wi-fi internet access, deckchairs, a table and chairs for dining and a small BBQ.
Borgo della Madonnina, a former olive farm dating from 1743, is close to Celle dei Puccini, home to the family of Giacomo Puccini. The feel of each cottage is light and airy, with simple but thoughtful décor, pleasant furniture, pretty bedding and plenty of fresh towels. You’ll also find fresh flowers and a small selection of books and DVDs. A welcome pack offers local treats and a bottle of prosecco to enjoy on arrival .
Our location means that the Medieval and Renaissance glories of the walled city of Lucca are only 18km away, while Pisa and Florence, Volterra, San Gimingnano and Siena are close enough for day trips. The glamorous beach resorts of Viareggio, Marina di Pietrasanta and Forte dei Marmi are a short (40 minutes), but stunning drive away. Around us, the mountainous Garfagnana national park is one of alpine meadows, rivers and lush hills, making it ideal for walkers, hikers and skiers.
We, Adrian and Christopher, have made Borgo della Madonnina our permanent home since 2003. Previously living and working in London, we recognise the stresses that life can throw at you and aim to make your time in Tuscany as carefree as possible. We have extensive local knowledge, so you will get to see the real Tuscany. However, we can also leave you to discover the area and its beautiful features all on your own

Just returned from a lovely chilled week in Il Forno. Location is very relaxed & Adrian & Christopher are perfect hosts - fonts of information, good company& wonderfully helpful.
Accommodation was great - just as pictures show. Delightfully small but perfectly formed!
Good location to visit larger centres of Pisa, Florence & the understated Lucca, but also a welcome escape of peace & quiet to balance things out.
Would definitely recommend a visit.
